Episode 143 of Love At First Scent
This was a TH-cam Live broadcast streamed on Sunday 29th November 2020. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
In this episode, I reviewed Perfumer H Pear, Salt and Cucumber, composed by Lyn Harris.
    Introduction 0:00
    Cucumber 5:30
    Salt 16:00
    Pear 19:45
This was the first of three videos broadcast on the same day. The others were:

    Here's the blotter update:
    - As one might expect for a cologne-style, citrus scent, Cucumber fades relatively quickly. I'd say this isn't a massive problem. I'd much rather have a cologne that tells a convincing cologne story and then disappears, rather than some noxious brew that never manages to be charming and is made to last and last 'artificially' through an over-use of musks.
    - Salt moves more prominently to its rosemary facet as it develops. It's a commendable attempt to present saltiness, if not entirely successful.
    - Pear remains limpid, pastel-hued and gossamer thin. Quite lovely.

I was very kindly sent several samples.. ‘Neroli’
    ‘White Smoke’
    ‘Snowdrop’
    ‘Incense Water’
    ‘Charcoal’
Favourite scents were Charcoal and Incense Water. Charcoal is so beautiful..brought me back to when I was a child, walking back on a Sunday evening after church with my dad.
The Juniper note in this fragrance must of been something that my dad had splashed on 😂
But it’s the smokiness that has me..Iove smokiness/incense fragrances!
Alas my only gripe with this beautiful fragrance is that the projection is not there as much as I would want..I want people to know I am wearing this because it is so lovely!
    Definitely one for the Autumn/Winter.

Thanks, Angela. I don't actually feel too bad. It's all gone to my throat, obviously.

Lyn Harris composed Fleurs de Sel for Miller Harris, which has been sadly discontinued. It is one of my favourite salty marine scents, it had also a prominent rosemary note. Wonder if they are similar. Have you ever tried it?

Ah, well done for mentioning that, Szymon. No, I haven’t smelt FdS for ages, but maybe that’s what Salt was reminding me of.

Hey. I know you’re a chicer guy than I am and have a more c’este la vie attitude about a perfume’s performance, but if you had to estimate, could you say around how many hours, for example, cucumber lasts on you? Or any of the other ones you discussed? Are they fleeting, great, or somewhere in between.

I ask because I live in the US and cannot stop by the Perfumer H boutique in London to try it for myself.

Oh dear, it’s hard to say, because I haven’t worn it for a while. I’d say maybe around 5 hours. Do bear in mind that I tend to apply perfume to both skin and clothing.
