In this episode, I reviewed Les Indemodables Vanille Havane and talked about a few other scents in the range, all of which have been composed by Valerie Pulverail and Antoine Lie.

Here's the blotter update:
- Vanille Havane has perhaps become a touch quieter than I might have expected, but it remains gorgeously intact, playing the vanilla against the tobacco to delicious effect.
- Oriental Velours displays a heavenly drydown: not quite powdery, not quite woody, not quite balsamic... and yet somehow encompassing the most sensuous, most skin-caressing aspects of all three. Stunning work.
- Fougere Emeraude retains that stubbly 'edge' that you want from a fougere - thanks to the sage note, I suspect - but it's also soft, approachable and tender. Two thumbs up.

These guys have been on Lucky Scent in the US for a while now, but I never paid any attention to them given the sheer number of so called artisanal perfumes in the universe. Thank you Persolaise for highlighting this wonderful brand! I was introduced to it last winter in the lovely perfume store Sens Unique here in Paris, and fell head over heels in love! Just like you, I reached for the rose first but it was Chypre Azural that I went back for the following day. Fougere Emeraude is another favorite, but they are all incredibly well made from the best possible raw materials.

Sorry I missed this live! I was so excited to see this house featured today! I am keen to try Vanille Havane so it was great to hear your thoughts! I don't often find banana in many fragrances, so it will be fun to test this out. Vanilla and tobacco are two of my favorite notes. Love the shirt by the way!!!

Finally got a Les Indemodables sample set. The line is very good quality and I will wear most of them. Oriental Velours was a real standout myrrh-centered fragrance. I was also won over by Cuir de Chine, a fruity floral suede. I was quite surprised to have liked Fougere Emeraud (I struggle with tuberose normally) and was irritated by Rose de Jamal (I usually love rose).

Interestingly, Rose De Jamal is the one which has taken me the longest to enjoy. I think that, at first, I expected it to be like the brand’s other work: grand, opulent, ‘retro’ etc etc. But when I realised that what they were trying to make was a very ‘fresh’, bracing rose, I was able to re-appraise it.

I came back to this after receiving their sample set today. I agree with your tepid reaction to the rose, but Cuir de Chine is blowing my mind right now. I'll have to try Vanille Havane tmr with a fresh nose!

Just to let you know that I have received this wonderful sample set and it’s chock full of gorgeous scents . I am blown away by the beauty of the fragrance s . Iris perle ‘ vanille havane ‘ chypre azural and Cuir de chine and oriental velours to die for . I can’t afford to buy a full bottle but I will definitely buy another sample set as just stunning .

@@Persolaise Oh my, they are amazing. I was smelling some other niche perfume along and they did not stand a chance. They seemed kind of blurry and muddled, while Les Indemodables were sharp and clear. Like when you're adjusting the lens while taking a photo with an analog slr camera and you hit that sweet spot when everything is perfectly focused. Also, that fruitiness in Vanille Havane very much reminded me of szarlotka :)

I love this brand, my favorite ones are Chypre Azural and Fougere Emeraude. Vanille Havane is beautiful, but i don't like gourmand fragrances that much.

I just received the sample set. It is so good. I wanted it for the Vanilla Havane and I am loving the Iris Perle and Chypre Azural...the citrus in the Chypre is so happy. Cannot wait to try the rest. What a great house! I'm excited that I got to try Oriental Velours with you...I paused when you got to it and sprayed on my arm. I'm getting a subtle minty vibe...what is that??? Fun. I wish I could get all of them. to dream

You are a very bad influence Mr Persolaise.
After watching your glowing review, I sampled this Masterpiece which I believe is arguably the best tobacco fragrance ever created. A rich and luxurious dry tobacco leave essence mixed with a textured puff of smoke on a bed of “anti-sweet” naturally fragrant vanilla. Deep, meditative and transportive fragrance, WOW!!!!!

I ordered 2 full bottles and have no regrets (did not tell my wife as she thinks I am still abstaining from buying new fragrances in 2021 :-)

Does Vanille Havana smell like genuine, real vanilla bean?
Well yes, but amongst other things. It's a very rich, complex composition.
@@Persolaise thanks! Some vanillas are too confectionary. I hope this isn’t too tobacco too, although people say it’s a tobacco fragrance. I was hoping for a more authentic Madagascar vanilla experience. Actual vanilla beans are very complex in aroma.
I do really want to smell these now. And please don't sell your kidney.....as tempting as it may be ;)
