I hope you see this comment to advise me before any purchase...I'm going for a m111 turbo build.
In my country the EVO 230's are difficult to find...So i just found one w202 1996 engine 2.3ltr m111.971 **NON VVTI**.
What's your overall thinking about the pressure this exact engine can handle?
The block is the same on m111.973 vvti and m111.975 right? With that said i was planning on putting an EVO 230 VVTI head on the block from this engine. Could this be done with no other changes?
How does VVTI affect m111's and do i have any advantages on vvti vs non-vvti m111 engines on tuning?
    ECU will be Standalone.
Thanks in advance! Waiting for news for your m111 build!

I have the N47 engine on my Mini R56 LCI and just trying to eliminate the easy fixes. I have a cable tray on top of mine valve which is different to yours as yours seems more exposed. how old is the car you have there? mine is 2012. N47C16A

@@minimad8793 hi, mine is a 2014 N47 2.0, are you having high oil consumption issues? I had insane high consumption when I first bought this car, but this one had an engine rebuild by the previous owner thanks to the timing chain. But first time round was the turbo charger oil seals on the exhaust side, but that opened up a rabbit hole, then the car was mediocre for about 6months then it began again, so knowing BMW engines I went straight for the PCV it's a common failure on nearly every post 2002 BMW engine it seems. There are many choices available so look carefully at the design's, I nearly bought the wrong one for mine, I also recommend a DPF delete or flush if you have had high oil usage. Hope that helps 👍

@@M-oneeleven-M111 had mine from main dealer, had 26k on the clock so only one owner previous. Only stsrted hearing it after having the rocker cover gasket changed so could be something or nothing to worry about. I heard someone say change the chain tensioner also so may give that a go. Gotta love BMW. Diesel engines eh

Not noticed excessive oil tbh, only just recently changed it ( 5 days ago). I will check again next week and see if it has gone down.

@@minimad8793 normally with a PCV issue you will see increased oil consumption as the excess crankcase pressure ultimately causes blowby so oil in the combustion chamber, on a diesel you don't always notice the smoke, but that and a filler cap being sucked down hard can also be an indicator. Yeah BMW really nailed it on this engine 🤣, I'm hoping to get mine useable again soon but first I need to remove the DPF for cleaning and that itself is removed the front end 🤦, as far as the car goes I like it and the 4wd works well but they gave the choice of a self destructing petrol or a self destructing diesel it's a shame these cars could have been so much better
