How to release a stuck ileocecal valve

  • In this demonstration, Dr Nirala Jacobi demonstrates a three minute maneuver anyone can try at home to free a stuck illeocecal valve.
    The ileocecal valve is a small segment between the small and large intestine. The valve is supposed to prevent back flow of large intestinal contents (that are teeming with bacteria) back into the small intestine. It can be stuck open or closed, causing abdominal and digestive symptoms, including SIBO. In this video, I show you how to get it "unstuck" with this simple maneuver.
    For more self-help resources like this check out my course The SIBO Success Plan. It's a self-paced online course that encapsulates my clinical approach to treating SIBO / IBS and other functional gastrointestinal disorders.

    I have been doing this exercise for the ileocal valve for many years. My chiropractor showed me how to do the maneuver back in 1985 and I still practice it today when I get the nausea sickish feeling. I know immediately what the problem is. Thank you for bringing the video so others can get relief.

      Did they resolve this on the spot? I was told by a kine a few years ago that I had a floppy Icv and she did the procedure to unblock it, but I had not had any symptoms, so I didn't know any difference. Now I wonder if it's again not right, as I feel that area is often feeling very full... May try the procedure myself this time

    WOW... This worked for me! I had tenderness all day in this area, thinking I may have appendicitis. The moment that I start applying pressure, I hear high-pitched noises moving around in there like something being released. I did the massage twice in a row just to make sure I was doing it right. The pain is now gone... Thank you so much!!!❤️❤️🙏

    I'm in floods of tears after watching this. I called my GP in April 2019 with pain there. They said it was probably scar tissue (living kidney donor). Over time the digestive issues have gotten so bad. I had an in-person visit with no physical exam, and promises of an ultrasound. I TOLD the GP exactly where the pain was, it was like a 25 pound hot weight sitting right there. I haven't been able to work in over a year, living on savings, which are almost gone. I have pinpointed this thing and wanted to cut it out with a razor. I had even been to the hospital and told them, as well as intense pain in right shoulder blade- they told me interstitial cystitis.
    I hope you know just how much good you may be doing in the world by putting this out there, thank you so much.

    Thank you so much for this, Nirala and all the other helpful and encouraging information you are giving us. I live in U.K. and ileocecal valve problems don’t seem to be very popular, or even recognised by much of the medical profession here. After many years, and many tests, I had to resort to research and self-diagnosis to even know what has been troubling me ( in slightly different forms) for most of my adult life. I very much appreciate your support. Very best wishes for your continued success.

    I've recently started going to a chiropractor for my neck and lower back. My stomach has been an issue, and I mentioned this to them because they wanted me to take magnesium which can make u go to the bathroom. I had lost a lot of weight, I was going at least 3 times a day, and I had so much stomach discomfort. I didn't expect them to do anything about it, but she did! This was just yesterday, and after months and months, it completely stopped it immediately! This has changed my life, I still can't believe it

    I will be genuine and say I honestly thought this was some weird useless medical advice at first, but I was desperate so I tried this. I knew nothing of Kinesiology.
    I was having pain and very intense bubbling (felt and sounded like popcorn popping all the time) right where the valve was for months on end.
    I’m assuming it was closed which was causing the sensation of hundreds of tiny bubbles flowing into my large intestine, almost like a carbonated drink expelling into my colon.
    I tried this move several times one day and I ended up passing extremely gross smelling greenish-yellow bowel the next day. After that I had no more bubbling or pain.
    It actually works. I am sorry I doubted this type of medical advice and practice. Thank you for helping me. I’m definitely going to look for a local kinesiologist in my area!!

    I've been having pains in this area for a while. Had CT, colonoscopy, endoscopy, x-ray, and all sorts of blood work done, with no results. They said it must be stress and gave me an antidepressant.
    This frustrated me, because I was losing weight rapidly, not digesting food properly, and dealing with very acute pains. Functional dyspepsia shouldn't cause all that to the extreme degree I am dealing with.
    None of the internists or GI doctors I've seen have even mentioned ileocecal valve dysfunction, but I really think it could explain what's going on, although I have managed to put a few pounds back on and my pains have been less severe since I'm taking the meds. Still, it don't believe it's 100% psychological.
    Going to give this a try.

      hello. give up cheese and dairy , except butter. try whole food plant based diet. or start day with one raw egg before first meal. try raw milk, or raw kefir, or raw aloe vera, or fresh fruit as a first meal. but wait untill u r thirsy, then drink water, then try those things. then add home made pickled veggies to your meals, daily. some folks say to drink olive oil on empty stomac , daily. all of these things i have tested personally. no harm done. no more constipation. i eat vegan plus eggs and no alcohol, lol. thanks

    I’ve been doing slow fascia excercises movements that require a lot of slow twisting for the last two weeks. I all the sudden developed this nagging tender pain on my lower left abdomen on Friday 7/7. After all research it seems like I may have this and I still have the pain today. I’m in a lot of pain and had digestive symptoms such as constipation and diarrhea and stomach cramping in lower abdomen since . Whenever I move or walk this hurts and even laying down helps but I still feel the pain. How do I know if my valve is “open or closed” . I’m afraid of having problems and idk how this just randomly happened on Friday and now I’m in so much pain I don’t know what to do.

      Hi, Rowena here from The SIBO Doctor. We'd recommend seeing a medical professional who can review your symptoms, especially given that your symptoms have come on quite quickly. In terms of whether SIBO is a factor, you could do our quiz here to see if it is likely: sibotest.com/quizzes/1

      Yes it can get stuck closed. The chiropractor presses down on it and turns clockwise.
      , and it will release. Also, drinking a couple oz. of
      aloe Vera juice throughout the day lubricates the valve. Taking
      chlorophyll oil supplements before you eat, help detoxify intestines and taking
      black radish supplements relax the valve. It’s a lot but it helps along with watching spicy, crunchy foods. It seems to come back but helps get it under control. Have yet to find a permanent fix.

    Is this for helping appendix or chronic appendicitis type issues???

    • @thesibodoctor
      @thesibodoctor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Rowena here from The SIBO Doctor. No, it is more specifically for people with SIBO or functional gut disorders. It may help with chronic appendicitis if there is muscle tightness around the ileocecal valve as a result of inflammation but it would be recommended to seek the advice of a medical practitioner or a person qualified in visceral manipulation (such as an osteopath who has trained in this area) before using it for this type of issue.

    • @thesibodoctor
      @thesibodoctor  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, Rowena here from The SIBO Doctor. It may be possible that this is causing your symptoms but it is best to seek an assessment from a suitable healthcare practitioner, such as someone experienced in visceral manipulation.

    • @SS40-nah
      @SS40-nah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm not sure what country you live in. I live in the US and doctors here don't know because they are not taught in medical school, most of them don't do research and because no one ever asks for the test and the doctor probably don't know how to read the results. Conventional doctors here a lot of times don't deviate from their books. If it's not according to their medical books then the patient is looked at like they are crazy. They don't know about SIBO or even what it is. I had to find out from a Functional Medicine doctor on TH-cam. I am not sure medical insurance in the US covers SIBO testing. I guess it depends on which insurance company and plan the patient has. But they will have to call their insurance company. A different example....I asked for an Advanced Lipid Panel test and my doctor had no idea if the lab even had it. No one asks for it, she never ordered one before and I appreciate the fact that she mentioned that she never saw one. But I'm sure she will research it. Thank goodness she doesn't just throw meds at me (which is rare in the States). The test would cost $350+ if my insurance didn't cover it. I had to call the billing department to get a code so my insurance company could look it up to see if it was covered. I only learned about the Advanced Lipid Panel from research here on TH-cam. 😑
