In Germany we used to use steel rope luquid / grease / spray to cover the metal parts and bottom areas but also doors, engine hood and trunk lid. If you do it on a new car and do it right rust will never come.

My Yaris under body is in great shape,no rust at all except on bolts and nuts which you can't help.I do spray everywhere with WD40 twice a year thou to slow it down.

In the States, this underbody is not of a Yaris. It that of a Toyota Echo and Scion Xa/Xb (1999-2006). The 2007+ U.S. Yaris is entirely redesigned (but similar). Check the seams that run down the center inside each rear wheelwell. Recommend undercoating these seams as preventative maintenance. If the rocker panels are rusted, that wheelwell seam is almost certainly compromised. Also check area rearward of each back wheel (i.e. behind the rear bumper cover).

Thanks for the video and very helpful.
Do you think with that level of corrosion in the spring and part of the bottom body are fine? I believe it need new springs unless it is normal for your area for that level of corrosion.

I use a camp stove and old cooking pot. 1 tube of grease and half a wax toilet seal ring. Heat and mix it up and brush it on underside car and inside body panels. Hard to reach places I use spray oil. No new rust and existing rust stops.

I recently bought a ‘08 Yaris with 87k miles .. was in a frontal (moderate) accident at 55k miles and was serviced by Toyota..everything looks clean. Is there anything else I should look for? I’m still hoping to get 200k miles out of her.

If it drives straight, no frame, radiator support, or appron damages, it should be fine. If the radiator support is not straight or the approns are bent, you may get killed in the next accident. If it is only bumper covers damage, it is fine.

Somebody please tell me. Had my yaris oil changed and after I got home I opened the hood and can see all the way to the tarmac on the road. Is there supposed to be like a floor underneath the engine? ??
