    Brilliant, so simple and easy. Makes me wonder why some folk scrabble to buy an expensive complex car. Seems it would be a weight on my shoulders wondering how much repairs would cost. With this wee Toyota it's all so straight forward - truly happy motoring.

    When removing the oil filter, slacken it a few turns then slip a poly bag under it (bread wrapper- take the bread out) and when it comes off the engine the excess oil is held in the bag - clean hands.

    Thanks chief... very straight forward instructuons, needed this so mum could service her car. Little tip though... fill the filter back up then apply new oil round the rubber... just so theres no tapping or air pockets...

    • @bluudysgarage
      @bluudysgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did put oil around the rubber. I'm just in the habit of not putting oil in the filters. As normally they are sideways or upside down etc.

    • @Asto508
      @Asto508 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its better to fill the filter by just pouring in more oil. The manual will tell you how much you need with or without filter change. In this case about 300 ml.

    Kudos, enjoyed the video.
    When replacing spark plugs ensure you don't cross thread. Actually that a friend do that years ago. What a nightmare!
    You should add a little used oil on the seal of your new oil filter.
    As you did, hand tighten and turn back just slightly so the rubber seal can seize back on itself.
    I like to add the date and mileage on all my air, fuel and oil filters with a Sharpie. This way there is never a doubt has the condition.
    Cheers

    Have you tried changing the passenger side headlight bulb on the yaris as I need to change mine but there's no room.

    • @Arestas25
      @Arestas25 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to remove the headlight and for that you need to loose the bumper on both wheel sides and in the motor area. You don't need to remove the bottom of the bumper but be careful to not force it when you remove the headlight.
      Each headlight has 3 screws you have to remove. Sometimes you can also replace the headlights bulbs without loosing the bumper but you need to have really small hands and I don't advice that because the headlight bulbs need to enter in a specific position and you need to remove and put back again the rubber protection around the bulb (protects against humidity and rain )...

    Great vid. I'm glad you didn't put any anti seize on your new spark plug threads...neither did I. I wasn't sure, but I know if it's an aluminium head you can do more harm than good with copper slip etc. It's the same engine on my 2008 Sirion, only the oil filter is the paper insert type held in a metal housing, a bit more fiddly to deal with (special tool can be purchased) but it has a drain screw at the bottom to empty the housing of oil before you remove it - so you can do it without making a mess. 😁

    • @Asto508
      @Asto508 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Low idle rpm can be caused by a carbonized throttle body. Also, If you have an old mechanical throttle with cable, the idle screw could just need re adjustment due to wear over the years. Ideally, get a obdii scan tool and measure your idle rpm when the engines has warmed up, for the 1.0 vvt-i, it should be around 700-800 when warm. When it drops below that usually the heavy vibrations start.

    • @bluudysgarage
      @bluudysgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Afraid not. It started tappy as most cars do after a service as it takes a second or two to get the pressure up and pump the oil back around the engine.
      The tappy sound comes from the top of the engine not lower down where the filter is located.
