Yeah VATSIM has been getting crazy with this stuff. Had a kid pretending to be Air Force one earlier tonight and just couldn’t figure out how VATSIM network works. Hats off to ATC.

@@flyingwithethan8170 If supervisors are online they usually handle it pretty fast, that is if they aren't offline or busy.
From what I´ve seen, the bigger problem is that new pilots tend to fly in highly populated areas, without experience or any interest to learn and do things the right way.
Once a kid got handoff to unicom .. Came back and said "unicom is offline sir"

In *some* fairness to NC0055, there is a persistent MSFS bug that will just spawn you on the runway even if you select a ramp parking spot.
EVERYTHING ELSE... don't be that guy. And if you do get that bug, just apologize and reconnect lol.
This bug happen if selecting your spawn point is not the last thing you do before pressing Fly. For example, changing airplane or livery after the spawn selection. It's annoying.
The last thing to select should be your spawn point and you wont have that problem.
It's only a bug that affects VATSIM and other people when you choose to connect to the network on the runway. Disconnect the client, spawn your aircraft, reconnect. It's simple common courtesy.
That's exactly why I connect vpilot always after spawning at the correct gate!

I think this shit is hilarious and it always gives me a huge laugh. When logging onto Vatsim I always make it a point to front my best professional radio courtesies and proceedure but people forget that at the end of the day Vatsim is still a video game, and the best thing you can do in these situations is laugh and move on with your life. You’re sitting at a desk flying a fake airplane is what it all boils down to, there is no need to waste your anger and frustration on someone who connects in and decides to throw a curveball at the whole op. It’s funny.

I think you're missing the point. The controllers on VATSIM study for hundreds of hours to get to C1. A lot of pilots do the same thing, especially when flying commercial aircraft. Individuals like this just end up causing disruption and are disconnected from the network.
If a controller has a number of of these individuals, they will log off. The result? Less ATC service for everyone.

As someone who has been flying airplanes for 7+ years and knows flight training all too well I absolutely loathe the sim traffic controller training argument when everyone gets high and mighty about a computer flight simulator video game...

I just dont understand how you can mess up this much. People say its an excuse for being young and new on vatsim, but i did a shit load of studying before my first flight, so i knew absolutely everything, and guess what: Nothing went wrong. PREACH! Myself joined Vatsim like 6 months ago and still flying mostly as observer while learning as much as i can. Did 2 flights on the network , was stressed as fck but thought that i might just make a written on paper 99% of pilotToATC conversations and it did the trick .

Yeh I think it's not so much messing up, more just not caring. I don't really know why this kid bothered logging onto the network as he doesn't seem at all interested in following procedures or doing things properly - he just wants to fly around and do his own thing, which is fine but then stay offline and don't ruin things for everyone else. Admire the patience of ATC here - I think a lot of other controllers would have given him short shrift.
Well I did screw up at the beginning but I learned and now I’m like the guy in the video, pretty professional. But I get sick whenever I see kids on vatsim crying because they don’t have VFR clearance
Same I’m a young bloke from the uk I studied a lot before I did my first flight in Vatsim I don’t understand why people think it is acceptable to do this it’s for realism not for messing about but if you do do it where there is not traffic or atc the atc have enough stress and things to do rather worry about someone in there airspace not listening to to traffic calls

There was a kid on vatsim today who was using the airforce one callsign and he didn’t even know how to request clearance he was just saying can I go to Miami and he was clearly not old enough to be on vatsim and was just screaming over other people already talking on the frequency and was saying why can’t I go to miami!!!! He got banned. I’m 14 years old and sometimes I struggle on vatsim but I don’t disrupt others fun like these guys

@@finnleithomczyk5292 we can use a command ".wallop [pilot callsign]", which sends a message to a supervisor that we have a problem with an aircraft. We don't have the power to kick them off the network or ban them, only a supervisor or actual VATSIM admin can.

@@finnleithomczyk5292Not really. Some controllers on a very rare occasion choose to grief or do something against the VATSIM COC. I have experienced it once before. Both controllers and pilots, however do have the ability to report members to supervisors who should respond in less than 10 minutes with an appropriate punishment.
This definitely beat the kid I heard who was meowing to sky harbor tower.

To be honest that was me NO0055, I’m very sorry I was so stupid at that time and I learned, I hate when kids do that now pls forgive me. I was just flying out of Boise and wanted to be so funny but it was so dumb. I haven’t done that since that and I told the controller sorry a month ago. I am now doing long realistic flights on Vatsim.
Don't beat yourself over it, in the end it's only a video game, the point is to have fun!

@@ZZ24667 Well is it real life? Then it is a game, albeit a very deeply simulated one. Different people have different goals when using a sim, some like to practice as real as it gets, others just want to have fun doing something they can't do in real life :)

Honestly, as a Vatsim Pilot, I get really annoyed when something like that happens to me - I choose a gate and then it just spawns me on the runway. So I end the flight and then pray to the spawning gods.

I thought my first months on vatsim where bad....
Im a C1 controller for VATSIM UK. By now, I would request a supervisor to disconnect him. I still remember being on a radar position At Birmingham which as a 40 nautical mile range. I had a pilot call me over Wales asking me to direct him to London Heathrow. He was outside my airspace so I asked him to monitor unicom. What ensued was several calls from the same pilot, stating I was refusing service. The supervisor disconnected him and backed me up.

Where do you usually fly?
This has been happening for many, many years on VATSIM. Until pilot competency is required, it will continue to occur. This video displays an all-to-familiar situation controllers have to deal with. Controllers are required to spend countless hours in online study, practical and written testing just to be able to connect to the network to control. Pilots? Download a game, connect on the runway, show their ass.
Geez if the controllers are having to go through all of that then they should be getting paid by the hour.
the COC is pretty clear about what Vatsim expects from you as a pilot. Even if there is no sort of certification, if new pilots would follow it there should be no problems following ATC instructions. Yet of course there is a lurning curve.
@@schmidde5202I agree with you and, in-theory, the CoC is supposed to curb this behavior. Unfortunately, there is a constant stream of controllers reporting this behavior. The learning curve isn't that steep but it's built on the backs of the controllers who are forced to be friendly and take the time to educate. That's not fair for them. They've done their due diligence and trained properly. There needs to be a minimum competency requirement for pilots to fly on the network. It shouldn't be the controller's responsibility to educate them.

I think ATC was especially patient in this case. The kid was sitting on the edge between incompetence and trolling. I suspect ATC opted to lean towards incompetence and attempt teaching for that one. I suspect if the kid was somewhere like LAX on a busy day he'd have just been kicked fairly shortly after his comment about acrobatics.

Command i am 16 years old and i'm playing vatsim. Vatsim is a server for peole who want to do like the real pilot. So if youre doing some shits like him you might be banned of use Vatsim.
I don't control under Vatsim, but under IVAO. that NC55 guy is quite annoying if I have to say. couple times he only read back portions of the instructions given, he randomly asks ATC if different runway is avail for landing when there are other acfts in the airport waiting. I can see how he doesn't like the instructions given, and he drags time of others. He only thinks of himself.
Look at is ID and logged hours. I don't know how it works in vatsim but he should have pilot training (I don't think it's mandatory in ivao, only atc is).
These actions shouldn't be tolerated especially with the presence of others. atc should also decide to wallop him

Try as I might, I just can't see the fun in this. I'm happy others have found it to be enjoyable.
And this is the crux of the Vatsim issue. Accountability and in-depth training programs for controllers and zero for pilots outside of a simple test they can Google the answer for.
Unfortunately, with the behavior getting worse and worse with the maintenance popularity of MS2020, steps need to be implemented for higher barrier of entry for pilots, check rides, further tests, just SOMETHING before they can decide to join the network and be disruptive.
Pilots almost always get controllers that maintain immersion, us controllers just want the same thing. We know how to do the minimum of what we're are trying to simulate and I wish all pilots did too before being able to freely fly on the network, that's all. It's not a big ask

It's a GAME folks. Too many pseudo pilots take this stuff seriously. If you are getting stressed out you should probably walk away from the GAME. if you wan the real thing go get your private pilot's license and have as much realism as you want.
Vatsim servers are specifically there to keep things as realistic as possible and get human ATC, with rules in place. That's the whole purpose. if that kid wants to fool around, it's all good, but he should just do it somewhere else.

@@TheWorldWarriorCompletely agree with you on that. Flight Simulator is definitely a better thing to learn than Fortnite. Flight Simulator has an excellent Flight Training section, that's the closest thing to actual flight school that I've seen.
However, Vatsim has rules that you HAVE to know and follow, new or not. The kid was told to disconnect and reconnect; he did neither.
