- I take this scrap Yamaha FS1M fuel tank that has rusted out on the bottom seams and decide to restore it as a Man Cave item. I repair the holes with silver solder rods, Fill and prep the tank and finish off with the correct colour and the new decals buried under 3 coats of 2k lacquer. Enjoy.

Thank you Martin enjoy watching your old videos watching from South Africa
I had this model FS1E Yamaha 50cc...Same colour.. It was registered in Sept '77 as an R....Lovely colour..Fab job Martin...brought back all the memories...had a black leather jacket & a black AGV full-faced helmet...At 16 turning up in the school car park I was king of the road...🤔
Nice one Doug.
As always martin spot on presentation
Quality finish 👏 👌
Beautyful work!
Thanks for this I had the exact same colour fsie. This brought back so many memories for me .
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful job, especially since the tank is basically the focal point of a bike. Those old painted metal tanks are way better looking than plastic.
Nice job Martin...'Brigade Blue'...thats the colour I believe....how can we forget the 'immortal' FS1-E.....Roehampton FS1-E boys rule.....great memories....take care..
Haha, nice one Rob
So many fond memories,
I proudly owned the earlier FS1E in the early 70,s ,,a fantastic decade by the way, they really were the best times,,👌👌

What an incredible transformation, and superb repair, a ton load of work in that, looks beautiful Martin, love all old yamaha 2stroke bikes, fizzy was first bike i sat on, a yellow one with the same speed block decals, those were the days, rd 250 after that, then the lc 350, heaven, great video Martin, 👍🏻👏
Great times I had on my fizzy tpp

Brilliant video, back in the 70s i had a fizzy, N reg: and it was the same colour, not sure if mine was resprayed before i bought it
Nice to see a retrospective Martin …do you still have the tank ? …Have spent much time looking back over 70 plus years myself….in view of recent events …Good Luck all Peter P
I do still have it
👍👍👍
When’s the live streams back ??? Sat afternoons never been the same
Great job can you do my xl250s tank.
Do you know anything about isopon zinc 182 anti rust primer. I bought a tin on ebay and when it arrived it was six months out of date but the seller said it will be ok because he worked in a body shop. So when I used it I think I painted over kurust and the stuff wasn't sticking and it seemed really thick to use.
Paint doesn't like to stick directly over rust products I have found the same with the Vactan rust treatment I use.
Mr Butler, is there money in restored vintage car parts?
Hi Martin I have a Yamaha fs1 engine top end rebuild kit brand new in my shed I no longer need if you want it you can have it for t I have no need for it anymore as my fs1 was far beyond repair.
I don't have one Rob, thanks though.
Martin, aluminium oxide. Have you ever used it on glass, is it any good.
It etched the glass cover on my blaster lol
@@retrorestore thanks Martin, as always helpful and courteous. I really appreciate the help as always and enjoy every vlog I see. TVs had its day in our house these days x
