I think Ben and Ralph are the best voice acting I've ever seen in videogames. When Clive screams in pain, cries in sorrow, yells in rage, I felt it every time, like a punch in the gut. Like all those emotions came from somewhere deep, and he channeled it into the role. I kept tearing up throughout the game, even parts that weren't even that significantly emotional, and wondering what was wrong with me since I almost never get so invested. Then finding out how his father passed away during development just...put all the pieces together. Top tier actor. I hope he gets many more roles in videogames.
damn had no idea his father passed away, RIP, Ben was the perfect cast for Clive, every time he yelled, cried, roared during the boss battles, I felt it! Especially wearing headphones! I played the game twice, some into 3rd playthru, but it still sounds so cool when he yells out the Eikon names!

As a big brother, all I can say is that I respect and admire how the character you portrayed had his ups and downs. But showed true courage throughout the whole story. You should be very proud for voicing this character, and I hope you enjoy the feedback for the game and cherish this moment you have with the character you helped make. None of what clive is would be possible without the effort you put into it as well as the rest of the team and actors as well. Hope you have a wonderful year ben star, and hope the game continues to succeed big time.
As a big sister watching her younger brother play through the game, there have been so many moments this game has nearly brought me to tears. I ADORE the family dynamics and the characters. Voice acting like Ben's is also incredible.
He seems so cool, is articulate, has played Final Fantasy…And then there's his voice! They couldn't have given this to someone better. He did one of the best main FF character voice acting jobs that the series has ever seen
I LOVE this guy. There are so many actors out there who kind of just come in and do their job, and that's the extent of their relationship with the franchise. And I'm not saying that in a disparaging way - there's nothing wrong with that, and plenty of them give stellar performances, but there's just something special about when you have an actor in a franchise who's *also* a fan. I guess it just makes it feel more.... intimate? Like "Oh, not only is he the voice of a huge character in this series, but he's one of us too!" Again, that's not to speak negatively of those who aren't fans. I think the entire cast for FFXVI was top notch. I just also think there's something really special about Ben being someone who isn't just part of FF, but also someone who's loved this series pretty much his entire life. I'm very happy that, like he mentions with that Dissidia promo art, he's now among other great actors like Ray Chase, James Arnold Taylor, Ali Hillis, and so many other great performers who bring these characters to life! Can't wait to see more of Clive when he inevitably shows up in another future Dissidia game!

Jill has an understated strength to her and I love that the woman speaks in pure poetry sometimes, but due to the writing of the character and the performance of the actress, it still feels real. I love this guy! I’m glad he has the same experience with final fantasy games growing up. And he blew me away with his performance. He held his own to Ralph Ineson who f-ing killed it. Best Cid ever.
Congrats on ben's preformance, especially good direction/acting in terms of pausing and using pauses to communicate, lots of media seem scared to allow an actor to go longer than a few seconds without speaking.

You know Ben Star is a big FF fan when he mentions how iconic the Dissidia roster is. He should feel incredibly proud of his work in FF16 because it was absolutely flawless. I don't think he had a poorly delivered line the entire game. FF16 has one of the best English voice casts ever... period. I used to consider FF12 the highlight of the series voice acting wise, but 16s cast is giving them a run for their money.
The FF16 team certainly seem to have approached this entry wanting to optimise it for the english language as much as possible. They chose to prioritise doing the performance capture with the English va cast over the Japanese va cast for example.

This is one of the rare times where the English voices are the original and Japanese is the dub.
It really depends on the setting, ff16 is clearly European medieval inspired so they focused on European language and accents.
