I can't believe that someone from my "FF8 is my favorite FF" club ended up voicing the protagonist of FF16. Ben did an amazing job and I am so happy for him, it was a blast to see you all nerd about FF.
This and the Clivestream two of the things I've loved the most from Access recently. Add me to the petition to have Ben on again in the future - maybe for a Rosie and / or Rob FF16 platinum stream?
41:07 The sparkling in Ben's eyes when he said "And they are responding to it" just pretty much shows why recording podcasts on camera is a good idea. It complemented everything he's been saying perfectly.
5:40 Ben giving off Nath-like energy. I liked this moment where he smoothly gets Rosie back on track. Make him a regular, I reckon he'd make a good addition to the team!
Wow... this has been my favorite episode so far. I am ashamed to admit that ive never played a final fantasy game, but this podcast is the thing that has finally convinced me to put that right. I can't believe how likable ben is, he is one of the most listenable people I've ever come across and I really can't wait to see what he does in the future. His passion and skill and his deep love for gaming is so admirable and I am so glad he is a part of the FF world now, he more than deserves it. I would love to see him back on future episodes! He had so much chemistry with the team
This podcast and the Clivestream is the most I've laughed, like in a month. Thank you PSA and thank you Ben Starr for being an amazing sport and an absolute Starr. Also, thanks for answering my question. Rosie the Auctioneer at 2.0x speed is something else.
28:50 really well put from Ben! that’s exactly what pulled us into the world of RPG gaming: that richness of experiencing the world unlike anything else.
He absolutely killed it dude. So much expression care pain and love put into Clive it makes him one of greatest portrayed characters to ever grace a game.
I've seen ben at the friends per second podcast and now here. And i didn't know who he was, but only listening to him for 2 hours totally make me love him. He seems to be such a lovable and kind person and i wish him all the best. And by heading his voice, i am sure that ff16 won't be his last role in a game. He has such an amazing voice and i think he could suit very well in many games.
Ben is such an amazing guest. And my admiration to this true FF fan just grew even more as I continue to experience his powerful performance in FF16. Never change Ben, never change 😍💪👏👏✌
Ben Starr is absolutely incredible in FF16, quickly becoming one of my fave characters of all time. Really hope to see/hear him in a ton of other games cuz the dude is just awesome.
no one tallks abotu ff13 and this guys. OH MY GOD. YES YES YES! BIG LOVE FOR THIS GUY. FF13 pulled me into the series, and its so nice to hear someone whos like in the industry talk about it for a change.
When I am playing a video game, I always refer to the protagonist/character I'm controlling as "me." Playing God of War, I am Kratos, playing Horizon, I am Aloy, and playing FFXVI, I am Clive. It must be so surreal to play a game and actually BE the character you're controlling - to hear your voice and remember saying those lines. It must be so cool to see it all put together in the finished product. Ben Starr is a phenomenal guest on the podcast and he really makes Clive come alive in FFXVI.
Hearing Ben gush about FFXIII is really touching to me. My favourite game in the series, though probably second favourite now. FFXVI was incredible. More people need to know XIII's splendor. A remaster with auto battle combat would be wonderful.
Now that he's done with FFXVI, I'd love if they let him voice a major character when they do the next expansion in FFXIV. He'd fit right in with that amazing cast!
I think I've watched this video three or four times now. Ben is just such a pleasant and funny guest, tons of great bits all around, so cool to hear about all of your experiences with the franchise and the new game so far. I hope we get to hear about each of your FFXVI experience after you've all completed the game.
Halfway throught the vid (great so far!), I came in at a similar time and similar age to Rob and Ben (I'm 39). I got FF7 that Christmas (1997) when I was 13 and when I wasn't seeing family and friends over that festive season, spent hours and got so immersed in it! So of course 2 years later did the same with FF8, was one of the couple of things I was absolutely "yeah, I want this for Christmas!" with my mum and dad haha. It solidified FF as one of my favourite franchises of the time alongside Zelda and Tomb Raider. It's the characters/friendships and the stories, they always just grab me.
Brilliant episode. I said it before on the Clivestream but again Ben is an incredible guest. He fits right in, is incredibly funny and a really good sport. The boyfriend list bit 🤣. Would really like to see Ben back at a later date to discuss FFXVI spoilers and stuff.

I’m coming at this late, I had just finished 16 yesterday at the time of writing this. It’s the first final fantasy that I’ve ever fully experienced, I played through the whole thing and it was incredible. Hearing Ben talk about how special the series is to him, and that 8 was his first and will always be that special game to him. I honestly feel like that’s what 16 is to me. I fell into this world, followed Clive to the very end and I came out of that game crying. People can have their opinions about that franchise but 16 will for ever hold a place in my heart and Clive and his friends are a big reason why.

Playing my way through FF16 like a lot of people right now. Ben's performance as Clive is fantastic, it would have been so easy to just play him as a grunting edge lord but Ben brings so much pain, sadness, fear, and humanity to the character. Clive wears his scars with a tragic regret. A flawed and relatable hero, he definitely has gone into the canon of greatest FF protagonists for me.

Final Fantasy VII through to Final Fantasy X took me from high-school through University.
