As Catholics we don't worship them and a lot of people confuse that. Although they have died, their job to do Gods work is not done. They continue to pray for us and our sins and perform miracles even after death. They are huge a testament for God's greatness, glory and majesty. They were just God's instruments. Any gift of the Holy Spirit, The Paraclete, the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, God. The saints teach us how to reach heaven. They give us the example of belief and trust in the Lord. We as Catholics read and study sacred Scripture, believe and try to live out the Lord’s teaching and learn from the lives of the saints. St Francis is a great example of one who gave up everything, heard a message from Christ , and tried to live a Christ-like life. Today we still have the Franciscan orders which teach, preach and have many hospitals. Also St Padre Pio is an awesome saint to teaches us how to be reliant and to trust in God. For over ten years I have been praying with the Servites of Mary the First Thursday of ever month at St Vincent's Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. At the appointment the next day the doctor asked what I had done to make my infection improve, and I told him that I was at a prayer group the night before praying NOT TO GO BACK TO SURGERY! Stigmata is, actually, a very strong demonic (spiritual) attack. It happens when one gets too close to God when they have not yet deveoped their relationship, gifts and armour of God in a full enough way. Yes., you are correct. But catholics shouldn't feel guilty about spending time of their day reading, praying or feeling like they have something in common with a Saint or an Angel. Being a fan of a saint or an angel or feeling comfortable around their stories doesn't mean you worship them. And God knows that and is not shallow lol. To say "I only pray to God or to Jesus" ' and if you pray to an Archangel or saint you are being disrespectful in any way is ridiculous and you're missing the message that God is trying to teach us. Female Saints did God's will in their life and Saints lived their lives doing penance and made sacrifices for sinners to expiate their punishment due to sinners poor choices. The saints teach us how to reach heaven. They give us the example of belief and trust in the Lord. We as Catholics read and study sacred Scripture, believe and try to live out the Lord’s teaching and learn from the lives of the saints. St Francis is a great example of one who gave up everything, heard a message from Christ , and tried to live a Christ-like life. Today we still have the Franciscan orders which teach, preach and have many hospitals. Also St Padre Pio is an awesome saint to teaches us how to be reliant and to trust in God. From my understanding Saint Joseph of Cupertino was thought to be possessed at first for his levitation and thus was given a lengthy exorcism. I’m reading a book on him right now. I love the saints and I love learning about them!

They do not have super powers. All they do is pray to God on our behalf. The holier they are, the more God answers their prayers, that's it. God does all the miracles and all the healing, through His servants the Saints.

When I was growing up in Catholic school I was fascinated by the saints that our Lord allowed them these spectacular gifts. A good priest told me they did not become saints because of these- it was their imitation through the Holy Spirit of Jesus’ true charity !

True. Very true. Saint Antony was a great help when I and my family had lost my way in dark. He lead us to the church of St Francis strange enough when we were planning to visit a St Antony instead.

I had a double mastectomy last summer followed by a massive infection to my left breast. When it was not healing properly the doctor scheduled me for another surgery to clean. For over ten years I have been praying with the Servites of Mary the First Thursday of ever month at St Vincent's Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. We have a first class relic of St Peregrin, and expose the Eucharist in the monstrance during the prayer service. I was in really bad shape but the night before my appointment my friends drove me to the prayer service. After we were done prying for all of the patients in the hospital Fr Isadore and my prayer partners gathered around, and asked for the healing of my infection. Jesus through the intercession of St Peregrin ( the cancer saint) healed my infection. At the appointment the next day the doctor asked what I had done to make my infection improve, and I told him that I was at a prayer group the night before praying NOT TO GO BACK TO SURGERY!

We honor and glorify Christ and the holy trinity by remembering the saints and Mary. We ask the saints to pray for us because they hear our prayers in heaven. I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention perhaps the most famous and loved saint of them all. The one who worked miracles that almost no one could before or since, The one who is looked up to dependent on by sailors, the poor, the homeless, the sick, the right and the most vulnerable among us, our children, The one who visits and gives to a 3rd of mankind every December the 25th. if it isn't obvious the saint I'm referring to is Saint Nicholas. Better known round the world as Santa Claus.

Stigmata is, actually, a very strong demonic (spiritual) attack. It happens when one gets too close to God when they have not yet deveoped their relationship, gifts and armour of God in a full enough way. As you journey on a righteous path you learn and become higher and closer to God. But the enemy also takes notice and will try to attack you in different ways. The closer you get to God the harder they will try. God will NEVER harm one of his children and call it a blessing.
