    Of course the medals should be properly blessed. But even an unblessed medal is more than 'a piece of metal', because the image on the medal conveys both the truth of the Catholic faith and of the holiness of St. Benedict.

      No Sacremental works on its own.
      Only the Sacrements work on their own. Not only is the Proper Blessing important they only work in conjunction with our faith.
      Your statement is not according to the teachings of Holy Mother Church.

      It is so important to have medals, Rosary Beads, Crosses, and Scapulars properly blessed. The St. Benedict Medal has a special form of Blessing attached to it and the wording can be obtained from a Benedictine Monastery.

      Not only ALL SACRAMENTALS MUST BE PROPERLY BLESSED , EXORCISED, AND USED WITH REVERENCE AND AS A SYMBOL OF FAITH ; A REMINDER OF GODS PRESENCE AND PROTECTION.
      There are demonic, new age, santerian rosaries disguised as Catholic Rosaries. Crucifixes, medals, and scapulars. Think about rappers and gang members who wear heavily ornamented gold and platinum crosses decked with diamonds. Does it mean the pieces of metal do have any spiritual benefits... Think not. I actually don't feel comfortable wearing a Rosary as a pendant. A blessed Rosary MUST ONLY BE WORN IF YOU HAVE FAITH AND STRIVING TO LEAD A CATHOLIC LIFESTYLE ALWAYS.
      AS A PROTECTION FROM THE ENEMY, THE FLESH, AND THIS WORLD. HOUR OF DEATH AND SICKNESS.
      I recently learned that the St. Benedict medal must be properly exorcised, just like I realized that the Brown Scapular MUST BE PROPERLY BLESSED AND IMPOSED BY A PRIEST ( THE FIRST SCAPULAR) . IT used to be like in St Benedict's case only Benedictine monks could exorcize it, only Carmelite monks could bless and impose the scapular. Mother Church authorizes any ordained priest to bless and impose the first Brown Scapular. I hope this helps some of us extremely uninformed and poorly chatequized and evangelized Catholics. The priests themselves were ordained soo poorly after the Vatican II. This is one of the many ways the Enemy weakened our faith.

    After confession today, I just asked my priest to bless the St. Benedict medals and a Miraculous medal. I told him what they were and asked if he needed the prayers that I printed out and brought with me. He told me it's fine and blessed them. No holy water and very short like when blessing a rosary. I thought it curious and had a nagging feeling he didn't do it right from the videos I saw on YT and the few articles I read. Guess I have to go get them blessed again and exorcised properly...

      @@harambesstepbrother7579 Actually it was a blessing in disguise. Ended up going to another parish with a wonderful and humble priest. He was more than willing and gladly accepted the prayers I had printed out. Very devout and reverent. He used the holy water with exorcised salt as well. He has blessed three batches of medals on three separate occasions I had bought (last time to give to him to hand out to anyone who needed them). He is seen constantly blessing people after mass, and not the "God bless you" type as you walk by, but actually prays for them. He takes the blessings of the Church seriously. So the wanting to find another priest who would bless the medals in correct form brought me to him. And through finding him, going to masses at that parish, and praying the rosary with my kids every night has resulted in a 'small' miracle (to those outside the family, but huge for us in the family). God is so good! And thank you Mother Mary. All for Mary, with Mary!

      I had the similar response from my priest when I asked for blessing my rosaries I purchased at vatican city. I had some blessed by our Pope Francesco 🙏. But I purchased additional ones. So I thought the purchased ones needed blessing, he told me that they're already blessed. So I have faith that the ones that were blessed by Pope Francesco spread the blessing to 😂the other ones 😂. As a Native American, calling a dream catcher "satanic" is hateful, uncalled for and not at all correct. One could say any religious object is "superstition" if they are not of that faith.. but calling something elders lovingly made to protect their children "evil/satanic" is unacceptable. Did Jesus not tell you to love and accept others even ones who are different from you?! It isn't the 1100s anymore. I'm not telling you what to believe only that you should refrain from vocalizing hate speech about other people's cultural background of which you clearly do not understand. Please do not speak ill of others. This is the judgment & animosity your religion admonishes its followers to eschew, yet here we are still seeing "faithful" people not following even the most basic Christian pronciple. 🙄 We need to do more than just sit in an assembly and hear a religious leader speak. (Especially if we don't listen!) Leaving your place of worship shouldn't mean you leave your faith there too. Faithful shall carry their faith with them as they walk through life & practice the tenants in every breath not just on Sundays for a few hours with people who are like them. That is all to easy. You will be tested in life. With animosity & hate toward anything or anyone who is different, you will fail.

      @catholicaromana  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching my video! I made it some years ago to inform a few people who asked about St Benedict Medals and it has now reached a wider audience. I did not mean to attack you or anyone's culture by mentioning dream catchers. One of my favorite saints is a Native American named Kateri Tekakwitha (Algonquin-Mohawk descent). She was Native American and maintained her culture while putting her faith in God rather than her ancestor's deities. Saying that I think something is superstitious is not hate speech. I did not judge nor condemn any one who is Native American, but rather spoke of an item (dream catchers) that people of all cultures now use. Believing that an object in itself can ward off spirits of the night or have a neurological effect on the brain is by definition superstitious. The argument can be made that people think St Benedict medals are superstitious. The difference here is that one power comes from the true God, while another comes from ancient beliefs. Dream catchers only became widespread in the 1960s and were only used originally by some natives (the Chippewas - which St Kateri would have been closer to). They believed the spider woman Asibikaashi, an earth goddess would protect children so they created willow hoops with webs. This tradition has been lost to many and often people now culturally misappropriate dream catchers to every Native American tribe in history (for example the Iñupiat and Tlingit of Alaska never had dream catchers) and many people use them as car decorations. That is like saying all English people wear kilts because certain Scots did. I understand now because of the popularity of dream catchers that it goes beyond it's origins and now symbolizes solidarity and something all Native Americans can share in. This is due to the pan-Amerindianism movement in the 1970s. There are other items such as tomahawks, canoes, and moccasins that were not used by every tribe but now symbolize Native heritage and these are really great. These, unlike dream catchers, are not related to the spiritual world. However, there have been cases where exorcists have had situations with demons regarding vexed dream catchers because people have them in their room simply as decorations. The psalms (96:5) say that the gods of the gentiles are demons and this includes Asibikaashi. You can believe demons are real or not and that occult items such as dream catchers, saging, voodoo dolls, healing crystals, spells, and other items deeply rooted in people's cultures have no negative effects, however I will not back down from my stance that as my religion affirms that we cannot use these items not of God. I'm writing a historical fiction book on the side for fun with the main character being a native in colonial America so I do like researching Native American culture.

    Any priest who bless this medal with just a sign of the cross and a little prayer and by not doing the proper way are lazy priest who does not do properly his vocation. Many priests today don't even know how to conduct exorcism or how to speak Latin. If Latin is the official language of the Catholic church then how come many priests don't know it? It's sheer laziness and the influenced of naturalism in the Catholic church. It really is sad. Thank you for the video.

    Today we really need to have a Holy Priest to Bless them live in videos perhaps every First Friday. Blessing done live are valid. Sadly, most Priests today do not know nor are willing to do the Blessings completely. Most do not even know how to read the Latin. Our church is about to completely ban The Latin Mass. This should tell us how effacatious The Latin Mass is versus the Bogus Or do Masses. My Church only has the Latin Mass twice a year. Last month I attended it and felt this would be the Last one I would be able to attend. You cannot buy Blessed items nor should you sell one. There are Holy places that charge for the chain or string on a Scapular and give away the Blessed Sacremental if you can trust who is doing this. Thank you for doing this. 🙏🙏 A man who came to my Parish gave away these medals, Holy Water, Salt, and cross all properly Blessed by his Traditional Latin Mass Priest. He wrote a powerful testimony on how his life and soul was saved through this. Sadly a person at my church made him leave. Lord help us, convert us and our Fallen Religous,. Guessing you're a cradle-Catholic, but I'm coming into the faith after decades of studying world religions, mythologies, and a stint as a Lutheran, but I'm trying to wrap my head around some matters of Catholic practice. You commented in this video that dream-catchers are "superstitious," and somehow, despite undergoing comparable rituals and being subjected to similar intentions, the consecrated medals, aren't. What's your definition of "superstition?"

      Superstition and divination is putting your belief in some other power than God. This is looking for luck or help from either an object or demon rather than from God. A saint Benedict Medal even if you do not believe in it, is attributed to God’s power and blessing and the item itself is meaningless without it.

    • @gerryscully9248
      @gerryscully9248 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a fair comment, however these items are Not talismans, that type of thing is witchcraft, it’s all about asking God to diispence some of the graces earned by these holy men or women by recognising and observing their example and asking through the intercession of these holy people to patition God for these graces for you in their name.

    Did you realize, that you can use the medal as a single decade or ring rosary? The cross with four arms, three of it with pearls or rings and ten letters: CSSMD NDSMD. For this, of course, the letters must be noticeable, when you touch them with a finger. Furthermore the "Vade retro Satanas!", according to the bible, are words, told us by Jesus Christ. He said, when spoken in the Lords name, the devil has to obey. I'm sure he used no latin, but the aramaic or the hebrew language. So, our (roman-catholic) teacher told us, that it should help in any language. Which version is true?

    • @catholicaromana
      @catholicaromana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never realized you could use it as a Rosary before to count. Yes, any language is effective against evil. It does not matter what language you use, but Ecclesiastical Latin as proven in exorcism and evidenced by many exorcists has an extra hatred from the demons because it has been sanctified over the years as the official language of the Church.

    My medal says INRI rather than PAX. WHat does this mean?

    • @catholicaromana

      INRI is the inscription written on the Cross that means, ‘Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum' meaning 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews'. This isn’t necessary for the validity of the medal’s exorcism blessing so it will work even if it doesn’t have “Pax”

    Is the short form of the blessing/exorcism of St Benedict’s Medals valid/efficacious? I had mine blessed by a priest with the short version. Is it better to have them blessed by the long version? If so, can they be blessed again?
    Here’s the short version that was used
    Our help is in the name of the Lord.
    Response: Who made heaven and earth.
    Priest: In the name of God the Father + Almighty, Who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, I exorcise these medals against the power and attacks of the evil one. May all who use these medals devoutly be blessed with health of soul and body. In the name of the Father + Almighty, of His Son + Jesus Christ our Lord, and of the Holy + Spirit the Paraclete, and in the love of the same Lord Jesus Christ Who will come on the last day to judge the living and the dead.
    Response: Amen.
    Priest: Let us pray. Almighty God, the boundless Source of all good things, we humbly ask that, through the intercession of St. Benedict, Thou pourest out Thy blessings + upon these medals. May those who use them devoutly and earnestly strive to perform goods works be blessed by Thee with health of soul and body, the grace of a holy death, and remission of temporal punishment due to sin. May they also, with the help of Thy merciful love, resist the temptations of the evil one and strive to exercise true charity and justice toward all, so that one day they may appear sinless and holy in Thy sight. This we ask through Christ our Lord.
    Response: Amen.
    The medals are then sprinkled with holy water.
