The paramount sign of a bad organization is an inability to trust their own judgement-thus, the instability whenever things start going wrong which, of course, they always quickly do for the Jets…
@@warlordofbritannia most rational level-headed jets fans realize this. i was screaming that we needed to do this with darnold from the day we drafted him. granted he gase was the main problem rather than him, but if we in theory fired gase after the 2019 season i feel like having 3 different head coaches in 3 years can destroy a players development no matter how long you keep him. i was pretty happy when we traded him but it definitely also gave me the sudden realization that this is why weve been fucking terrible for so long. we dont stick with the guys we draft and let them develop. however, it really looks like joe douglas is trying to do this with wilson based off all our picks we took after him this past draft, especially trading up for vera-tucker. i knew this year was going to be ugly, but we won the games we needed to win, and truly did somewhat alright for a team clearly going through a rebuild, not to mention with a rookie qb and first year hc. im 22 and for the first time since the ryan sanchise era i truly do belive we're on the uprise. IF we stick with and build around wilson that is.
Owners that have loyal fans are also to blame. Why improve the product when the fans will come to the games regardless? I see Sanchez had a career QB passer rating of 73, which puts him below average (in the modern era it's in the mid 80s) and yet he was their most successful QB outside of Joe Naimeth it seems. Jets have nice uniforms though, kind of 1960s throwback cool.
The Lions being the only exception, but then... they keep individuals that you shouldn't have had as General Manager as General Manager for too long (Matt Millen) or keeping a QB who keeps dragging the team to around .500 with a roster not good enough to advance any further given salary cap rules requiring a perfect draft and the NFL stands for Not For Long before it unravels.
As a Jets fan, I wish they'd quit the NFL and found a megachurch instead. They've already mastered the art of getting thousands of people to simultaneously shout "JESUS CHRIST!"
After 2011, 11-year old me said the jets and cowboys wouldn’t make the playoffs for 10 seasons. I got half of it right ; imagine if I had put a straight bet on the jets

Not to mention that they (the Jets) won arguably the most important game in the history of the NFL. No matter how long ago it was. It's like a Yankees fan celebrating Ruth and Gehrig even though they lived 100 almost 100 years ago.
@@grogery1570 That's irrelevant to me. A title is a title is a title. No matter how long ago it was. At least logically. WHich is the main problem. Fans are illogical
Except the Yankees have won championships and have been to World Series in almost every decade since Ruth and Gehrig retired. The Jets are more like the Cubs or NY Rangers before 1994.
Poor ownership for the most part. That being said, they should be treated as the Chicago Cubs of the NFL. The loveable losers. Instead everybody hates them. What about the people who work for them, and don't make decisions? Should they be booed and made fun of? I've always had that problem with the perception of the Jets and making fun of them. @@eckesg2 of course it's not fair, but hating on NY is one of sport's oldest pastimes and is considered every fan's time-honored right. As we say in the Big Apple, whatayagonnado
That's not a fair comparison for the Cubs: they actually won a title in recent memory. The Jets, however, consistently find new reasons to illogically fail. So no, it's not fair that we keep getting dragged like this, but the organization and team did it to themselves for the past 50+ years of failure.
Im a Charger fan but ever since the Jets beat us twice in the playoffs the past 20 years they've grown on me and they're my #2 team. They're going to be contenders in 2 years. I'm calling it.
As a Jet fan they are so bad because of these factors- Ownerships, Front Office, Head Coaching, Worst Drafting Team In the Draft Era and They Still Have Not Found That QB. Jets never had an elite QB and Joe Namath was never elite the stats prove that. That is why the Jets are so bad
Not a Jets fan but Namath is the first QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season during a pre Mel Blount rule era when DBs could do whatever they want more or less
@@eaglefang8656 not agreeing or disagreeing with you but I do feel like Namath gets un-needlessly shit on do to a mix of era blindness and recency bias. I think Namath was a top AFL era QB who’s peak makes up for his lingering years
@@eaglefang8656 If you put Namath's numbers in context with the era and situation he was in he was a great QB when healthy. If you look at Pro Football Refrence, his AV ratings from seasons that he played a majority of games are 9, 12,16,15, 14, 15, 12, and 9, implying great qb play when healthy. Namath was a great QB when he played, the major reson Namath stats look so bad is because he was very injury prone. Since he played in an era when people just put ice on an injury and told the player to go back on the feild, Namath's numbers took a massive hit with the large amount of times he got hurt.
The big issue the Jets have had is failure to find a QB. The Jets have had some really good teams at times, but have never really hit on any of their QBs. The closest they came was Pennington, who I continue to hold would have been a top-10 QB if he hadn't gotten hurt. And it's not like they haven't had chances to obtain one, but they either draft the wrong guy, or perhaps worse, hold onto the guy they have too long passing up a real franchise QB in the process.
Pennington was good but I think the closest they ever came in my memory was 1999 after Elway retired and there was no clear dynasty in the AFC. The Jets were coming off a 12-4 season where they had lost to the Broncos in championship game and then the Meadowlands carpet ripped Vinny Testaverde's leg off.

Being the 2nd choice team in NY also hurts. It’s like a toned down version of Yankees-Mets with Giants-Jets. There’s just a lot more clout if I’m even just an average NFL player going to the Giants as opposed to the Jets, even if the Giants finished 2-14 and the Jets finished 10-6. And the reverse is true too. If I’m a GM and I want to go to NY, I might have an unconscious bias against the Jets simply because the Giants feel more like NY’s team. It boils down to: “you’re not the Giants”. In addition to getting the lower-tier players, management, etc., it’s also why the Jets have had trouble holding onto and developing talent. Granted, both teams are a giant mess right now, but the culture around the Giants has been a lot more positive historically because it was the choice destination.
I think the jets are better then the giants and i follow both teams 🤷♂️. Djsaquon , fant>thomas. All that matters 2 me is next year , couldent care less about history.
Ah yes, that time the Giants were a 7-7 team playing the Jets on Christmas Eve, down 7-3 in the 3rd on their own 1 yard line when Victor Cruz took a 99 yd catch to the house and didn’t lose another game all season 💪
As a Jets fan, I also feel it bullshit that the minute something promising looks to occur. Injures nullify anything from starting. I'm already used to the incompetence occurring, but when it comes to any mishap that's out of anyone's control that's when it sucks
Jets needs their own stadium. They will always be the "little brother" to the Giants as long as they share the same place. When they won SB III, they HAD their own stadium (Shea) and their own independent identity. This will always have a psychological effect on all the players until they break off
Shea Stadium was utilized by the Mets as well so that’s not necessarily true, but if you were referring to the era when the team wasn’t sharing with the Giants I get what you’re saying.
Primarily because our record sucks so when we do reach a playoff game it's on the road I mean we won 4 Road playoff games those 2 years we reached the AFC Championship game
Aside from 1967-1970 and a couple of years in the late 00s, the entire organization had no idea what they were doing (and the Rex Ryan years were just them getting lucky)..
Yeah, in case there was ever a question as to how lucky Rex was to have that D during his time in Jersey, just look at what he did to the Buffalo D after being hired on there. My Bills went from being the 4th ranked D with over 50 sacks to the 15th ranked D with just 21.

I think of him like Ryan Tannehill. Or even Jim Plunkett, or Eli Manning. Guys that were really mediocre in the regular season, but in the postseason could turn it on. His playoff QBR was 94.3 opposed to his abysmal regular season QBR of 73.2. 🤷♂️ I guess by Jets standards, he was "good".
Don't forget they won the Sam Darnold trade too. The Jets have 7 picks in the first 4 rounds and thanks to the Panthers wasting a 2022 second and a 2022 fourth for a terrible QB.
lol it depend on the gm so far right now the jet gm know to make good trade deal, but his draft pick is unproven. i dont see jack wilson out dueling josh allen or robert saleh out coaching billecheck any time soon

The Jets aren't even thinking about trading Becton, c'mon now. He was awesome his rookie year and had a fluke injury his second year. I'm not even a Jets fan
As a jets fan its really hard to be optimistic about anything when your team does this stuff every year. I will say though the Jets looked good at the end of the season and have surprising talent from late draft picks that are able to fill positions at least at a decent level.

@@raylopez99 bro 90% of jets games home games are opposing fans. and when theres a team from further away the stadiums almost always totally empty.

I was watching with my then girlfriend's 12 year old son. He was not into football but decided to watch that game with me. I don't think either of us stopped laughing for 20 minutes. Probably the greatest play the kid ever witnessed.
As a Bengals fan, all I can say is be patient, it might just happen even when you least expect it. Unless you're a Browns fan, then just accept.

He was traded to the saints in 2018 before the regular season started
He was signed after his injury, the year we drafted Darnold. Darnold was the future not Bridgewater.
Can’t forget about the legend Mike White🙏🏼😮💨
2021 starters now were Zach Wilson and Mike White alongside the aforementioned Joe Flacco
The Jets also drafted James Morgan in the 4th round and never played a snap for them
that’s not tht weird
He is too busy playing madden rn
And they also refused to play him at 0-13 which would have locked up Trevor Lawrence.. Now maybe we got the right guy, who knows. But at that moment I couldn't believe the jets pissed away the number 1 pick
I think the seeing ghosts is rock bottom for the jets, it’s the culmination of the whole previous decades failures
The Buttfumble was the rock bottom along with Adam Gase many years later
I feel bad for super fans like Fireman Ed, I can totally understand why he wouldn’t want to go to games for a period of time. Fandom is weird in that you kind of give a piece of yourself to the team, some people give a little, some people give a lot more. I’m sure that got harder and harder for him to do over time with so little success.

@@njyankeesfan Exactly. And those teams were not as hated as the Jets.
Not a good comparison man because legends like Ruth and Gehrig won a little more then 1 championship putting it lightly
Thank you you beautiful unicorn
If anyone was to look objectively at this team, they could see you are speaking the truth.
For the same reason why the Mets are so bad: because if they weren't, it wouldn't be very, very funny.
"With a list of mistakes so long, you'd think the Jets are Bill De Blasio"
As a Jet fan they are so bad because of these factors- Ownerships, Front Office, Head Coaching, Worst Drafting Team In the Draft Era and They Still Have Not Found That QB. Jets never had an elite QB and Joe Namath was never elite the stats prove that. That is why the Jets are so bad
You forgot the #1 reason: New Jersey sucks
Not a Jets fan but Namath is the first QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season during a pre Mel Blount rule era when DBs could do whatever they want more or less
@@Mustafa777. Does not make him elite look at his season stats year by year not an elite QB
You could've said: "because they're the New York Jets", and I wouldn't disagree with you
Then he would be a lazy youtuber instead of doing the homework and research....

To be fair to siemian he lasted like a quarter before he suffered a season ending injury
As a Jets fan, I also feel it bullshit that the minute something promising looks to occur. Injures nullify anything from starting. I'm already used to the incompetence occurring, but when it comes to any mishap that's out of anyone's control that's when it sucks
Can you do the Giants next? The McAdoo, Shurmur, and Judge years were all incredibly painful.
Have to also include the Coughlin years after 2012.
Psychological effect if you are mentally weak AF
Fun fact: the Jets have not won a home playoff game since 2002.
Primarily because our record sucks so when we do reach a playoff game it's on the road I mean we won 4 Road playoff games those 2 years we reached the AFC Championship game
That's also the last time they even hosted a home playoff game.
