I know this song only thanks to my parents and it will always remind me of them many years from now. Great song, great band, very distinctive voice of David Paton. No surprise he was an Alan Parsons Project singer too!
I was born in 1970, but my father listened to a lot of music like this, so I grew up knowing the great popular music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Abba, Franck Pourcel, Fenati, Bee Gees, Chicago, Al Stewart, The Association, The Mamas & The Papas, Italian New Wave songs, and of course, Pilot and much more). Over time, my favorite music became that of the great classical masters, from the Renaissance to Shostakovich and Pettersson, but these songs remain with me and will always accompany me.

Rolling Stones played in Buffalo, NY 6 times Led Zeppelin 2 times, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Aerosmith, The Who, The Clash, Doobie Brothers, the producers even got Allman Brothers & Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was cool almost every band opened saying HELLO BUFFALO. To bad they couldn't get David Cassidy. This was at Buffalo Bills Stadium 75,000 fans. I wonder if Im living in the past still listening to these songs. Im 58 & still have my IRISH Freckels on my face. Simi Valley sitting in the school yard after school on the black asphalt at Berylwood listening on a transistor radio this song in 1974 . It just made an such impression on me at 11 years old!
Although this song was a huge part of my childhood, this is the FIRST time I have ever seen the band themselves. Never saw so much as a photo before today.
People dont realize when we were kids we didnt know what people looked like who sang. Probably why we stared at album covers while listening to music imagining what was happening when they recorded.
I was born in 1958....could not be happier with the music. Magic and Skyhigh by Jigsaw 2 of my favs. Life was so much more simple. Now it is dangerous and embarrassing

I was 20 yrs old when this song played in 1975, I was in the United States Marine Corps on Okinawa missing my cute 19 yr old Blonde hair and her BROWN eyes, she was so cute. Transport me back to 1975.
"Magic" is a 1974 song by Scottish pop rock band Pilot, and was the first hit single for the group. It was written by band members David Paton and Billy Lyall for their debut album, From the Album of the Same Name.According to Paton, the song is inspired by the sunrise on Blackford Hill in Edinburgh. In a 2012 interview with Hotdisc Television, Paton also stated that at the time, his wife said she'd "never seen a daybreak," which also inspired the song.
I hear this and I am transported back in time to my subdivision. I am riding my Huffy bike (with banana seat) down the street (NO HELMET) with my AM transistor radio dangling off the handlebars. What a "magic" time to be a kid---the 1970s and 80s. I always thought this but as I see more and more people say the same thing I am convinced of it. Look at the Saturday morning tv now, and then look back at the 70s. I could write an epistle just on that, but if you are watching this video you already know how incredible a time to be alive it was.
Fantastic underrated Rock song🎸🎤🏴🇬🇧.. in the eventual respectable coined "category", for those who must split hairs within genres, of "power pop", a respectable term only because Pete Townsend of the Who coined it to describe themselves then as well 💯👈 and yeah I was there as a very young kid in the seventies as well and heard this on the "AM" radio, nonexistent now📻, and could not get enough of it and could never find it on the radio enough then, it's great to have the power to pull it up on Spotify and here at will now, it's an everlasting original - written rock song (so what if it was inspired by another song, which songs in Rock / "pop" are not influenced thusly often) and that not only harkens back to the great Rock of the 70s but is timeless.
Every time this song came on the radio my dad called me into the room or outside to listen, he knew it would bring a smile to my face and I’d start singing and dancing. I was like 5 or 6 it was one of my favorites when I was younger
Such happy memories. I feel 19 again! Going to my 50 high school reunion. I will.demand that they put this on the music list! Love this song even more now than I did back in the 70's

This song has always reminded me of her and since then I’ve been into older music ever since.
I was only three years old in 74 but I love all the music from that era. Its Magic. 👌👍
I was 15, those days were wonderful, WHAT HAPPENED????????
@@andymatthews7617 Most teenagers like to listen to people sing about chicks and cars at an abnormal pace now
@@BuddyMGS I suppose new era's bring different perspectives, still we had the best music that will ever be.
Goodness this song is so timeless 😍

Simi Valley sitting in the school yard after school on the black asphalt at Berylwood listening on a transistor radio this song in 1974 . It just made an such impression on me at 11 years old!
This song was always playing on the radio when I was in High School. Class of '79. Brings some fun memories back.
Cheers from Canada! It was a hit in Canada in the summer of 1975. I was 7. What a great song it was! Still love hearing it after 46 years ♥️
They wrote a song about Canada as well!
I don't know why but this beautiful song reminds me of christmas!!! 🎄🎁🎄
This song is one of the songs ahead of its time.
They are so young eh?
Same here I'm 40 and 1st time seeing them. Looks fun! 🎸🎶
i gave you thumbs up only because of your name

There are two songs which I hold dear to my heart. January and its Magic. Totally awesome.
I was born in 1958....could not be happier with the music. Magic and Skyhigh by Jigsaw 2 of my favs. Life was so much more simple. Now it is dangerous and embarrassing
Funny, I've been playing this one non stop lately and just discovered "Sky high" today. That one is also super catchy.
Loved this song when it came out in the 70s. Still love it in 2023! 😊❤
Memories 😊.. where did the time go!!
The lead singer: what a delightfully beautiful creature!
Great candidate for a trans
@@yeahsure8323 You jealous asshole, ha!
@@littlemissblackdress7587 Jealousy maybe or maybe Yeah Sure meant no insult and knows nothing is wrong with going trans if one wishes to do so.
I agree. He had a mesmerising smile. ❤
imagine this: you are running through the hallways but your eyes catch the most beautiful person you have seen, time freezes and you look at that person while this song starts to play
*chef kiss* perfection
Talk about criminally underrated.
Childhood memories of playing outside running through the grass barefooted....What a beautiful time the 70' s were!

Didn't realise they are Scots. Love this song. A '70's child here. Also, more than half Scottish.

The struggles of life....this song makes it magic.
I was born near the end of 1969. The 70's was my childhood and I vividly remember this song and it brings back the happiest memories for me.
@@lauramayfield5410 I was born in the middle of 1964. So sorry you weren't able to absorb even more of it!
I was like 5 or 6 it was one of my favorites when I was younger
what a sweet memory ❤
I cant be the only one who's not into new music but tend to like hearing old songs
I loved this song..it reminds me of comic books and summer day fun....
Always looked forward to a Summer Special for my holidays, Beano or Dandy usually
James Bell Jr me to I’m 55 now but still love this song wish I could go back to those days so much fun and disco 💃

Such happy memories. I feel 19 again! Going to my 50 high school reunion. I will.demand that they put this on the music list! Love this song even more now than I did back in the 70's
born in the 60's was a real blessing when it came to music
David Green Yes it was! Born in 1964, and missing when things seemed more normal to me
I was 30 when it was released. It's still mystical, even more so. Love galore nothing but good memories! 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been thinking about this song for a long while, I remember the oh oh oh it’s magic part since I was extremely young . And I’ve finally found this song
I was 16 when this song came out and I really liked it a lot.
