  • I installed a Moto Fab 2.5" Leveling kit on my new 5th Gen 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn Sport. This kit isn't made for 5th Gen Rams, but it works just fine. No Modifications needed for this kit to work on the new trucks. 10/10 Recommend. Make sure you browse the channel and subscribe, as always, thanks for watching!

    To anyone who is going to install this on their truck, regardless of truck year - make sure you get lock-tite for the bolts that come with the spacers. When you go to tighten down the nuts on the spacer bolts without the locktite, it'll just back the bolts out. Locktite fixed the problem. My truck (2019 big horn) came out just like the one in the video. I love it. Ride quality still feels the same like stock.

    I wish I would have tried this out. The 2” Rough Country was a pain in the ass and it changes the ride due to the nature of the lift (pre-load spacers) keep us posted on your luck with the alignment. I have 4000 miles on my 2” and the tires are cupping. Awesome job!

    Great video man! One thing I do differently when undoing the upper ball joint, I loosen the nut off until about the last 2-4 threads, and hit the knuckle with my plastic mallet to brake the ballpoint free. Makes chances of destroying the ballpoint boot almost 0. But definitely a very instructive video!

    I just installed the leveling kit on my 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn, the video was great, i watched it about 20 times before i started the install. I just wish you had shown in the video the re-install, what a work out that was, but i got it done and back together, now i can't find anyone in my area that will align the truck, they all say they don't have the software for the 2019!

    I purchased my now former ‘21 Ram 1500 Night Edition 4x4 in late 2020. Installed 2.5” level kit as well with 295/55R20 AT tires. Looked so wicked. All my fellow Ram buddy’s along with Chevy and Ford owners gave me nothing but praise on how my Ram looked as well as the color it was which was Granite metallic. I kept the same stock rims and it still looked sharp. Wish I could post a pic of what it looked like. I so happened to sell it this past week. I couldn’t pass up the offer I was given. I look forward to buying another Ram maybe this next time will be 2500 HD Cummins. Liked your vid dude and keep up the good work.

    Me and my buddies took on this project last weekend. Took us three hours for the first side (some of that waiting for the pickle fork to show up) and an hour on the second side. Got it aligned the next day ( looks like they used 2018 specs) and it drove great. Picked up the Fuel Mavericks in 20” with the BF Goodrich K02’s 275/65R20 (about 34” tall). Looks and rides great! I figure if the ball joints or bushings go out prematurely, I will just upgrade them at a later date. Thanks again for the video, very helpful. I kept wondering why you guys were using the open end wrenches instead of sockets...then I realized that you need to hold the bolt on the bottom with the smaller wrench or socket to keep it from spinning 🤣. One note...make sure that the threaded studs are in good! I had one back out when tightening. Good luck!

    I’m picking up my ‘19 Laramie next week. Looking for a lift not so much for aesthetics but to minimize the drop with the weight of a plow (it’s going to drop X amount anyways with or without a lift kit). Any thoughts on why the bumps are harsher and the reason for a shorter ball joint life? I’m guessing the ball joint might be at the limit of its designed movement.
    Are there any caster/camber adjustments on these trucks?

    I did this in my driveway in about 30 minutes it was so fast I didn’t even wanna make a video of it. That pickle fork part is really bad practice unless you planning on replacing the upper control arm. Why not tap the side of the spindle to free up the ball joint. If there was a challenging part I’d say it would be putting the lower strut bolt back it you’d need someone to assist you. 22mm 21mm 24mm 18mm 10mm 8mm 16mm pry bar and hammer and at-least a 3-4 ton jack with jack stands and he’s right the 4th gen kit works on the 5th. On a side note if you doing this make sure you loosen the upper control arm bolts before removing the upper ball joint and then re tighten when the truck is on the ground if not bye bye control arms in a couple months🤘🏾

    Whatever you guys do, I wouldn’t recommend the 2in rough country leveling kit. I worked a deal and had the dealership install 2in leveling kit and 35x12.50x20 Toyo MT on factory 20s. I don’t rub anywhere at all, perfect clearance. Only issue I have, it’s still nose diving. I just ordered the 2.5 kit used in this video.

    I've been reading reviews and have seen many ppl say I need to change my control arms when doing a 2.5in level on my 2016 ram. Do I need new control arms??? I'm assuming the suspension would be the same as your right?
    Ps. I put on some nitto Terra grappler g2 (lt305x55xr20) on my factory wheels (same as yours) and love the way it looks. Plan on putting 2in spacers aswell. Seen your most recent video.

    Love your truck. Great job.
    I posted a question about the 2" spacers and I have the same question for the lift. Does it cause front end components to wear out quicker? Ball joints, etc. because of the "new" angle.
    Also - I looked on motofab's website and they have 3" leveling spacers available. Would that require additional components to reduce stress on front end? Was thinking about 3" up front and their 1" for the rear. I drive my RAM almost 1000 miles per week and don't wanna have to replace front end parts frequently.
    Thoughts?

    • @shadowballen6463
      @shadowballen6463 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      AT 1000 miles a week ( 52k miles a year) you will probably be replacing parts at an accelerated rate anyway.
      I haven't noticed any "additional wear" on my rebel but it would be a long term issue before you would notice, plus need a comparable baseline.

  • @DanielBrown-vh7yj
    @DanielBrown-vh7yj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are those spacers actually 2.5 inches thick? I’ve been looking for those Motofab spacers, but everywhere is sold out! All these other 2.5 inch level kits say they are just over 1.5 inches thick, but lift the front end 2.5 inches due to ‘suspension geometry’?

    • @davidd3574
      @davidd3574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats correct. A 2.5" lift does not require a 2.5" spacer. Go based on the rated lift by the manufacturer not the thickness of the spacer. Motofab, Supreme Suspensions, Readylift are some good brands. There are also cheaper chinese knock offs that are fine
