i just recently learned that each time you load a world, the spawn chances for ladybugs/butterflies and stinkbugs are rerolled. was not happy when i found this out. bad game design imo
i’ve been wanting to collect everything in a world like all the weapons and stuff. i really appreciate guides like this because this is more obscure information and you’re explaining everything really well

They actually “nerfed” flower/fairy boots at some point since I last played. They basically made the chance for critters to spawn from flowers made by the boots abysmal. The exact numbers can be found on the wiki
This is mostly theoretical, for now, but it might be of use to anyone trying to make a critter farm. If you have a town in the space biome, critters will still spawn as if on the surface. This means you can use water candles and get the increased spawn rate buff for being in space. You will want to do this on a classic mode world in hardmode. Expert worlds have a 1/30 chance of enemies spawning even if there is a town. Also hardmode increases spawn rates slightly. Compared to using a battle potion and a water candle on the surface, your spawn rates will be twice as good. The stuff I still need to test is if you can use a guide to critter companionship to negate the damage inflicted by ramming enemies with a minecart. If you can (and if critters can spawn on grass when there is a minecart track above it, need to test that too) you'd be able to make an afk farm that only requires something to hold down left click for you so you can constantly swing a golden bug net. wear solar armour with full warding accessories and keep a lil bit of regen gear and you should be able to completely afk, blood moons, and hardmode goblins. especially if you have the minecart upgrade kit. Pirates, I need to test that one I'm not sure. pirate captain deals silly amounts of damage.
With banners I think you'll be fine. I also think against monsters, master mode is better due to defense scaling end game, especially with said banners.
This video is a good resource for info on the butterfly/stinkbug/ladybug thing I did this myself last year and didn’t use any special farms for it. Ladybug wasn’t so bad for me, the worst were seahorses.
yeah seahorses are extra annoying with all the other ocean critters that take up space. it's crazy how you could hypothetically get every gold critter in like 3 minutes, so some people (like me) have a whole (51 hour) journey hunting a critter, while others just saw a gold ladybug one day and caught it ezpz no problemo
For the gold seahorse (or pretty much any other farm), you might also want to put some sentry summons under the water to automatically deal with any enemies that also spawn without having to move the screen and mess up the spawn conditions. I use rainbow crystal staff and lunar portal staff. Obviously use guide to critter companionship to make sure the sentries don't also kill any (gold) critters
if you are trying to get gold worms for golden delights then its really good to find a seed with a chest with a can of worms so you can keep making worlds with that seed to grind the gold worms
I recommend adding the "titles" in videos, for example, minute 5:49 - 6:07 gold gold fish. It'll make users be able to "want" to see different parts of the video without having the watch the whole video, yes, it means sometimes that u won't get viewers who watch everything, but it'll make them come back to you for your clean editing of the video. Personally, I enjoyed mostly the statistical parts of the video, I also like that even though some people won't be able to understand it, you even simplified it enough for them, really nice of you to explain some mechanics of the game that nobody really pays attention to, it's useful but no one even knows them, mostly they focus on building, fighting, or grinding for specific items. For the statistical part of the video, if any in the future, I recommend opening up a black board and put in the information there alongside the images instead of putting them behind a terraria screen as it makes it more appealing and easier to understand. Lastly for the intro [I don't know why I didn't put it first], the intro is very loud, maybe lower sound or use a different one. Overall, nice vid, 8/10, I hope this helped.
I'll turn down the intro in future vids, and timestamps are a good idea. for the statistical parts of the video, I was just doing my best to keep it from looking like a boring math class video, so yeah I should've used images, but I thought a blackboard would make the viewer feel like they're in school, not fun to look at (in my opinion). thank you for the feedback, it definitely helped.
This seems crazy I was looking at the banners, and there’s a drednautalis banner, an ice golem banner, obviously the Tim, nymph, mimics, but also the corrupt, hallowed and crimson mimics, rune wizard, doctors bones, the list goes on man, luckily those ones specifically have a lowered custom kill count to unlock the banners, but still, they all over 10, and some are 25, still not gonna be a fun grind to say the least
Flower Boots reduce drop rates from cutting grass only while wearing them, so you can grow the flowers on one pass, take off the boots, then mow it all down and you should be able to get some yield
im needing some help, i trying to farm for the gold stryder in a normal world in harmode with jungle biome with 3 npc in each town with 50 block distance from the other towns and the arapaimas are still spawning
Same thing for me aswell, but at the edge of my farm the biome turns to forest and if I stand there only critters spawn, so maybe keep strips of jungle but make sure its not a jungle biome. But I'm still tryna figure this Shi out
i got to say this is absolutly insane. the hidden face of terraria wiki unrevealed.. i'v done this challenge before in 1.4.3 i collected about 5050 unique item./5124 most the other were unobtainable Id. or things i can only see if you seperate each item base on the ID list. this took me arround 550h and is extremely messed up run. curiosety also strike me in a sense. Starting in 1.4.4.9: Just how many unique item is obtianable in a single World (no word hoping 1 caracter) ?
in a master mode world you could get nearly every item from the single world if you're extremely lucky, except for the items that are only found in secret worlds like the waffle's iron, ocrams razor, and otherwordly music boxes. but in most cases you wont find all of the pyramid items, floating island items, the terragrim, maybe you cant get a queen bee drop. most of the time the world gen wont provide enough opportunity, so it's the items that you get exclusively from generated structures that you probably wont obtain all of the possible drops from (unless its a 100% guarenteed item, like a lihzahrd altar). also, if you're trying to collect every item like you and i have, the accessory crafting trees compound this issue, so instead of needing to get lucky by finding one shiny red balloon on a flaoting island, we needed to find like 8, which is impossible to get in a single world.
Hi I’m having trouble with the seahorses because I did everything you did in the video but the town seems to be a regular town and not a ocean town, how do I make it an ocean so that seahorses spawn because right now all I’m getting is goldfish
you can't really create your own ocean, you have to build the town inside the already existing ocean biome (on the beach, directly next to the water preferably). you can tell when you're in the biome by the background screen and music. if you don't hear ocean music, you're either too far away, or you completely destroyed the ocean somehow. if the ocean you're at is too scuffed, you can just go to the other ocean and try again or make a new world. you can also try rebuilding it I guess, it's just sand. make sure that all the floors of the ocean are sand. no dirt or stone underwater. let me know if this helped
So what I did was I made worlds until I found a Florida beach like yours and did the same things you did, but the rates are pretty bad it’s like 2 seahorses a minute. How long did it take you to get yours?
@@ladybug1601 it took me about 3 hours of waiting, and I think I got lucky. seahorses have a super low spawn rate, but if you have it set up like I did then hopefully they're the only critter spawning. just keep an eye on that lifeform analyzer. they despawn after 13 seconds off-screen so don't miss the golden one

also a bit surprising that you go buying seeds from driad...when staff of regrowth and axe of regrowth exist which do the grass part for free and I think...faster?

@@allyroad3544 I'd say it's up for debate between the gold seahorse and water strider. the sand structure is there because enemies/critters can't spawn inside of a block, they can only spawn on top of a block, on top of water, or inside water. and they can only spawn within a certain area away from you off screen. so if you're at a certain distance from that sand structure I made, and there's no blocks or water to my left, the only valid spawn point for enemies/critters is in the water underneath the sand structure. and I built a town, so only critters can spawn, and the only ocean critter that can spawn underwater is the seahorse. so it's a good seahorse only farm.

It got rid of them, yeah just make strips of jungle and in between put dirt an make sure its a forest biome.
