- These are the ultimate forms of a few tried and true utility items that were added in 1.4.4! They've been highlighted items that've received a fair bit of coverage, but I've wanted to make a video about a couple of them for months, so figured I'd go ahead anyways!

Fun fact: Zenith is post moonlord, and has the second most complicated crafting tree now.
Shellphone, the item with the most complicated crafting recipe, is post skeletron.

If you got it when 1.4.4 first came out you could use dungeon enemies spawning pre-Skeletron in drunk world to get tally counter, so it used to technically be pre-boss. I don't know when but at some point drunk world stopped having this be possible, but idk what it changed because I got a golden key to open the guaranteed Muramasa chest(drunk world thing that might also be gone now) before it was changed.
The shell phone is amazing. Along with the molecart.
@@Izzythemaker127 The muramasa chest is a mechanic in every world except if the first chest generated in the dungeon is a wooden chest in which the first chest will contain a cobalt shield
Actually the shell phone isnt, as zenith is the longest tree still in the game. The hardest part of shell phone is the angler daily drops, which is very annoying rng. The rest can be fished up, gathered in the world or swapped with shimmer.
I think the 3 real most important items are the copper short sword, copper pickaxe, and the copper axe.
None are required to beat the game(but without them the start is significantly harder), and you could get squire slime with a copper helmet, and zenith is post-moon lord so there's nothing to use it on.

I would say that the sword is useless, I would replace it with rope
Wind speed is actually very helpful as certain enemies only spawn in certain wind conditions so it is good for that and also it affects fishing

If you're enough smart (or just simply look it up), you can tell when theres a blizzard or a sandstorm in HM the weather information.

Used Wind Speed indicator to get the forbidden Armor from Sandstorms, would have been really annoying without it.

i really like the axe of regrowth; it's simple but the ability to chop trees and not have to worry about replanting manually is just so nice to me, and having the rod of regrowth functionality bundled in is a nice bonus too
Axe of regrowth is one of my favorite new items, lol, it's a good item with a convenient new effect, and then has the effect of an old items that I always like to try and use because it's good but that I often forget about
plus, I really love the axe strength it has by time you can get it, makes me feel reluctant to swap off it normally even later on

aw man that would be sick. since lucy is from dont starve, they could make the vines from the axe of regrowth into those dont starve rose vines for that.
thank you for including the step stool's hidden property of being stupidly silly. it's always great to have a "teabag your friends" option built into my mining/building loadout
Yeah it really is just a funny item lol, almost 0 real application after the very very start of the game potentially. I think slapping it onto the hand of creation because why not is just fantastic though
@@swyte I think it's also lowkey genious to add to the hand of creation as the stepping stool can help you reach even higher, making it actually practically useful in combination with the other accessory effects in the hand of creation.
@@nr.1yelansimp201 I mean it is, because the step stool is never worth it on it's own, but it can still have small applications, which you'd never use otherwise, but just because another feature since it's all combined on the same item :P
It so arkward using it in mobile, we can't double tap joystick so we have to jump while holding it up, but because of that having wings make it soooo frustrating; it only work after the initial jump, really needs it's own button.
3:51 ah, this I know about! Wind speed is useful for knowing when a sandstorm/blizzard has a chance of happening since the minimum requirement for one of those events to spawn is a wind speed of over 30 mph. It's especially useful in hard mode for efficiently collecting Forbidden Fragments and Ice Cores because the enemies that drop those items only spawn during those events
It is also used for windy days if you want a kite or something
I feel the need to say that the weather info is useful not only for its intended purpose (fishing) but also for catching the sandstorm and the blizzard in their related bioms which is needed to get the rare mobs' resources (like frost cores). That's mostly relevant for the summoner class.

@@russman3787, it's funny, however, because the frost core part doesn't necessarily invoke the summoner part. It's just the example here. Also, you can get Firecracker instead (we didn't risk it on Expert in our playthrough). Summoners do need Forbidden Armor, however; very much so. Hence the weather info being relevant for them the most because they want to catch the sandstorm.

Imma be honest, the shimmer feels like the PERFECT last update. It's this cool feature to send off the game, and were it not for TH-cam(no offense), we would be exploring the extent of the stuff for years after. It also just feels like it's doing one final polish of the gem that is terraria.

@@YetiCat28 windspeed has effect on enemy spawn rates for example ice giant (i think that's their english name) and different weather effects

I really want an upgrade to the hand of creation that mixes the hand of creation with the grand design.
That would be cool, though probably a little too difficult to implement, because it would be combining an accessory with a hand held item with an interface

The Shell/Cell phone is easily my favorite item ever. I love getting extra information, but all the stuff takes so much inventory space, so the ability to combine them all is literally genius

What's awesome about the shellphone is that it gives you an extra home, essentially. You will likely have a base right at world spawn, since you usually just build there at the beginning of the game, so you can freely set "home" to wherever you want.
I personally think an easy pick for best added item is terraspark boots. they function so perfectly to do everything you would want out a boot accessory and it basically is a autoinclude in every playthrough
I accidentally threw mine into lava yesterday and had to make new ones, it took me an extra 2 hours 💀

I kinda wanna see hand of creation mix with the molten gauntlet. Imagine having an accesory that uses both combat and non-combat effects
that could be the infinity gauntlet equivalent slap one of each gem on there and your set

No joke, I've used stepstools in worlds with several players and not enough resources (prior to even the first boss, of course), and it's honestly useful. The most interesting part of it being that if you jump while activating the stool, you get a nifty little jump height boost, for... whatever reason.
Wind speed info is good to know when a sandstorm is happening..if the wind speed is 35 mph or higher you get a sandstorm, which is good for an early hard mode armor set the forbidden set. I think its useful for fishing too
weather is amazing on seeds like the zenith seed where you don't really even know if it is night without a watch. also higher windspeed makes sandstorms more common, and the effect more powerful. additionally after a certain wind speed the "windy day" event becomes a thing. The use is very niche but it can be useful.

As an Endgame Character the Hand of creation is by far one of my most favorite accessories and the most used ever since it came out.
Being able to reach “ANY” items from afar is like the best, especially if you just “Destroy” anything in sight and not bothered to collect every little peace and bits of loot
And being able to mine farther means i can mine through walls, ceilings and floors, and being able to pick up the item i just mine behind it, being able to place blocks farther is also good, dont need to be right next to it always just to place a block.
Yeah, the different accessories that you craft into it really do just fit together really well and all work in combination to make building and mining feel much more smooth
I always get the Great plan as soon as I kill Skeletron, it's cheap and it's also very convinient to see all the traps BEFORE boulder smashes your head

Wind Speed is useful in determining fishing power (which is its own item) and creature spawning. I'm currently using wind speed to find the gold water strider, since water striders generally spawn below 10 mph

i recently completed the crafting tree for the cell phone, and i have never been more hyped
all i need now is the lava conch (whatever it's called) and then i have completed it before the zenith or anhk charm

Wind speed is useful if you want a sandstorm, but dont want to stay in the desert or check on the desert regularly, because a sandstorm has a chanche to spawn if the windspeed is greater than 30 mph

3:49 I kinda like this piece of info because I like to know if it's raining or not on the surface when I'm underground, simply because I just want to know it like the moon phase, and I guess windspeed can help you see things like when a biome event is happening (Snow / Sandstorm), or as simple as "Windy Day". The only ones I don't see being helpful for me are the stopwatch and DPS meter.
Also, one caveat towards the Rod of Harmony (And the Discord predecessor) is that the range is only as far as your cursor can go, or in other words, how large your monitor is. Which isn't much for a 1366 pixel wide monitor that is about 2 feet, if not less.
Shellphones item in the inventory is different from then one thwt appears when you are going to make it in the crafting bench
I hate the crafting for cellhphone though. Most information items sure, not bad. But fishing for the quests... painful
Fish
Its not too bad anymore. From what i understand, getting the accessories from fishing is more likely, and you won't get a duplicate if you have one in your inventory already.
If you don't have the right fishing items you can now chuck them into the shimmer and it'll transform them into another of them. Before shimmer was added though, a real pain to obtain.

I feel this lol. I personally love fishing in Terraria, so grinding for the cellphone has never been a real pain for me, but it certainly has always taken a large amount of time. It's significantly easier to do now regardless as other people have pointed out though, which is quite nice!

Wind speed determines the spawning of certain creatures and events, as someone who tried farming every gold critter, this info was vital
Imagine an upgrade to the shell phone that lets you teleport to the middle surface part of any biome
Single handedly mentioned my entire load out 😭 but also for big builds the auto paint feature is a damn godsend as well as surprisingly the step stall shockingly
I could see another upgrade to the Shellphone being possible. Allowing you to teleport to any of your pylons would make it even better

I remember watching a video telling me how the emblem upgrades were useless, yet you need the avenger emblem to make the fire gauntlet, and I think that’s way better
I use the hand of creation in my second set the mining/building set
I haven't actually used the different sets for anything yet, I keep forgetting about it. That's a good use! I'll probably end up doing the same at some point
@@swyte i used one for fighting , one for mining/building and the third one for fishing , thats really helpful , if you didnt use them yet its understandable , i didnt used them properly untill hard mode , but then they become a thing you can't live without
I would add it the capacity to teleport to your friend's position to the Shellphone, it adds a utility that makes sense with the thing. Also I would add more things to the Glove; following the logic you showed there, adding all gems and spirits to make a Glove that gives 50% chance of not consuming blocks when building, the step could be used mid air to stop fall/lock in place.
that would actually be brilliant, although i have a few changes. For one I would have an upgrade from the stool THEN add that upgraded stool as an item for the glove like for example: Stool + Locker (Random item i made up that locks the player in place in midair) = Hover stool + Other stuff = Hand of creation

late reply but to anyone else reading this and wondering about the frames, those are favorited items and you can set them by alt clicking on items
wind speed knowledge lets you know when a sandstorm is about to happen (speed over 30 mph) and therefore makes getting in position to farm the forbidden armor much less painful

How do you get the architects gizmo pack? I’m guessing you find it in golden chests or something? As I have the other 3 parts just need that last one and I can’t find it for the life of me😂
The traveling merchant sells you four different accessories that give you buffs related to building. After you get all four you can craft them together to make the architect gizmo pack at a Tinkerer's Workshop
that stepstool's comedy factor is off the charts. I'll never forget the time i found it in a multiplayer playthrough, and just said "everybody shut up and look at me" then just stood on the stool and laughed.

i finally beat terraria on my 3/yo world and like 7 years of playing the game (i took a lot of long breaks).. this was my first time doing it mostly legit… i played for 9 hours after and got the shellphone, zenith, and rod of harmony. it was surprisingly easy to get the zenith, compared to the hours upon hours of grinding for shellphone.
The wind speed is used for only one thing, the most important and pivotal thing added to Terraria… golfing.
The fun part is?
Hand of creation stacks with it's components (I think), so your miner second slot of armory and accessories can become the real devourer of world
There's mining speed cap actually
Well, you can stack boosts until it's capped still
I'm a big fan of the Celestial Shell, because of the myriad of buffs if gives you.
Now if only you could get a werewolf buff during the day....

there is also the fact shellphone is pre hardmode
with regards to the monetization thing, i wouldn't be surprised if it has to do with the _Gonzalez vs Google_ case that Captain Sparkles talked about in his latest video. so i think it's less about turning it into a platform for kids and more about avoiding as many lawsuits as they can
I believe it's something separate because what CS talked about is a huge departure from the guideline changes and what they entail, but they could be linked, yeah
Strong agree. Especially with the Hand Of Creation. With an endgame pickaxe, a type of 'well fed' buff, and a mining potion, you can mine faster than you fall. It was so, SO useful for getting the 'Good riddance' achievement in my world. The terraformer should also get a mention.

the shellphone is reasonably easy to craft for how good it is
Im very surprised alot of very hard crafting trees are literally before hardmode (or obtainable before ever beating a hardmode boss)
Windspeed can hinder projectiles sometimes aswell as golfing and kites
I use the Hand all the time after an event or in an area I’m over powered for to grab loot easier.

Yeah, even if you're just playing on a Post Moonlord world the Rod of Harmony feels to convenient, it's crazy
I want to combine the Terraspark Boots with the Flower Boots, Frog Leg, Dune Riders, and the Soaring Insignia. That feels like a true endgame item. Absolute mobility with a little bit of flair for the ground.
Also feel like the Hand of Creation could be combined with the Grand Design.
That would probably be really broken lol. And it would be cool if you could combine the HoC and GD, but wouldn't make the most sense, since one is an accessory and one is just a normal useable item

My personal thought is that you could upgrade the Shellphone to teleport to pylons, since scrolling through your map to do that is kind of annoying in large worlds.
I just finished building hand of creation and I wasn't even trying to. I was going for terraspark boots and just combined everything else I found that would go together. got Grand Design too. haven't even started building yet. and I won't, until I get the dadgum fish finder
I feel that the terraspark boots are also one of the best accessories added. It’s awesome.
I always felt that the gizmo pack, the chisel, the stepstool and the treasure magnet were all kinda meh on their own but now that the hand of creation is a thing I'm honestly confused how I ever played terraria before without it, its just really nice utility

Pretty much, I always used to try and have an architect gizmo pack if I could, but all of the others would very quickly just be placed into a chest and never be used, just very cool that they all got combined
That rod of discord I’ve managed to get only one in so many different worlds, and it was my original game I lost somehow along the way. Useful isn’t even the word :)
I dunno I think Sandcastle Bucket is leagues ahead of these three items

I try throw shellphone to shimmer just for test, it didn't have any effect, weird becuase cellphone itself have effect (the effect i mean is de-craft)

The Rod Of Harmony could be useful if you wanna try out some crazy mods like Calamity or Thorium.
Would probably be very nice in Thorium. They're gonna nerf the hell out of it in Calamity though lol, the Rod of Discord already has a 15 second CD during bossfights in that mod, so I can only assume the Rod of harmony will get hit as well
