If your ganna kill off the male lead of stranger things don't drag truck kun into this if you kill off this mc he ganna spawn somwhere else and ruin shows for other people😂😂😂😂
Bro when Eleven was passed out in that tub of water thing and Mike said “I don’t think my life started until I found you that day in the woods”- WHAT???? WERENT YOU TRYING TO FIND YOUR FRIEND WHO DISAPPEARED?????- AND WILL WAS THERE LISTENING TO THE WHOLE SPEECH
6:00 Wil had so much potential as a character who is sort of forever connected to the Alien Dimension and they basically did nothing with that. His connection ended in season 2. They could have had him develop some powers of his own but they are more horrific and border on the lines of ptsd instead of just being psychic with no repercussions other than a nose bleed.
The show has come down to basically evil things show up, and the Millie Bobby Billie Jean King James Earl Jones Brown shows up and screams and nosebleeds, goes emo on the evil shit, and then season finish. It's a shame.
All of these problems boil down to there simply being too many characters. With such an bloated cast, certain characters will always be neglected to some degree.
True, even The Walking Dead had this happen with Daryl who isn't even in the comics. He wasn't even supposed to be a character and becomes the most popular now he's the main character of the show and since that ended, the spinoff
I think it's cause they test out and experiment more w the side character especially character who was never supposed to be in the story and make him related to the audience or badass af but realistic af or a character they develop Steve was supposed to die halfway in ST season 1 but now he's gonna survive the entire show and make it past Season 5 and Jonathan a character who was supposed to survive the show if the show wasn't renewed for season 2 and end up w Nancy is now expected to pass
@@AlternateMichaelthis is not the same thing as the walking dead. Lots of side and main characters died in that show. Sure Daryl didn’t, but that’s because he was good at surviving. Hell, he was probably the most skilled at survival in the whole series.
I'm mad that Max was supposed to die at the end of the last season, but because the cast loves Sadie Sink so much, the creators decided to keep her alive. Like, that decision made the show WORSE. Main characters have to die for there to be stakes in the show, for there to be consequences for what events transpire. I'm glad they love Sadie so much, but that should have no bearing on the story itself.
she can still die this next season in a hospital bed or something. she may as well be dead right? im remembering the show correctly she was mutilated but not finished off?
@@art23428 but shes blind and crippled. unless she becomes neo in the third matrix movie they have a problem of what to do with her. ill follow this silly mess wherever it goes but what started out pretty bold has undercut itself by not having any consequences. i read somewhere season 1 was supposed to be a one off in an anthology and season 2 was going to be a different story. they could have done it. bring the actors back do a different story every season. american horror story for its inconsistency has pulled that off. you like sadie so much cast her as something else next season. ive been a staunch Halloween III: Season of the Witch defender for decades. if the Halloween movies went anthology at this point it would be better. i say the same for Stranger Things. end this story start another.
They didn't even have to keep her alive for Sadie to come back. They could have used flashbacks, and even if she isn't in the show, I bet she would have been allowed on set to help out
Mike's best moments were in the first 2 seasons where he was a fierce friend to Will and 11. He was the one who kept trying to find will and refused to believe his death, he was the one who kept reaching out to 11 despite the danger she posed and the dangers surrounding her. Honestly my favorite moment from him is S2 where he tries to attack Hopper for hiding the fact that 11 survived for almost a year. The last two seasons i have not cared for him.
Agreed. The show started being about the boys, and their friendship with Eleven, then suddenly it started out becoming the Eleven and Max show. With Eleven ditching the boys, to hangout with Max. The boys have basically become sidekicks in a show that started out being about them.
I really wish they had taken more risk. Will has gone from being one of the most important characters story-wise to a charecter who says a few words an episode (i don't like Will but i understand their prior importance). Its almost like they also abandoned the side-plot that Will may have become a bit sensitive themselves from their time in the up-side down. Like imagine this Instead of only Billy dying in Season 3, Jonathan dies too. It would have been quite poetic in the sense of both older brothers becoming marty's for the strange crew. Despite them both being polar opposites in demeanor, the over-lapping arc of "sacrifice" would have raised the stakes because both "bad guus" AND "good guys" can die. This would have changed ALOT. 1. The season four arc of Max feeling isolated and disconnected would have been accompanied by Will. Maybe instead its that they both understand each other and both find sanctuary in each other but stray away from the larger group. This gives more incentive to Lucas to branch out himself than the "oh well i wanna fit in" explanation we got. This gives meaning for Will to continue in trying to understand his sensitivity, Lucas more resentfulness, and Max more solace in trying to grieve. This would make the moment with Lucas inspiring Max to live have much more impact instead of us believing its just the brief moments with Eleven and Lucas that wev seen. 2. Nancy's charecter becomes more unapologetic and focused on her efforts to change things than the love - triangle. Having Nancy lean hard into the investigative journalism (almost becoming a noir arc) would have been awesome. 3. Joyce HAS to beat the upside-down. Joyce has already lost Jonathan, she can't lose hopper too. Instead of the weird shit we saw. 4. Eleven has to become more dangerous. The stakes are already high and now we see Vecna kill Max at the end. We've already lost Jonathan, now Eddie Munson and the Mayfield siblings died. Eleven has to train Will because she alone can't stop Vecna. But with Will and a supporting crew who are detirmined to give it all. It makes the final showdown and the "Apacolypse" that much more believable. This simple change would have made Will, and Nancy more curcial to the story-plot with legitimate reasons to continue in their investments to stopping the upside-down. The problem i have with the current story is if you removed Jonathan, Nancy, and Will after season 2. Nothing really changes from the overall plot beats. But making the change at the end of season 3 to kill Jonathan would have given Nancy & Will more stakes and keeping alot of the same story beats for the rest of the charecters as it would have unfolded in season 4. And when Eddie & Max die at the end. EVERYONE has a legitimate investment to actually being part of the battle. Its not just a convenience thing to have them there anymore
Thats by far my biggest complaints with the show. A bunch of kids fighting off weird alien monsters with nothing but baseball bats and somehow nobody dies. The show would be so much better if it felt like there were some actual stakes
Yeah also the fact that this is supposed to feel kind of like a d&d run, and one of the most common things in d&d is some characters dying specially if theres a big threat and you make bad decisions
You didn’t even mention Lucas. Season 1 Lucas was one of my GOATs. He was a gung ho kid who was actually pretty perceptive and ready to throw hands with the Demogorgon. Season 2 and 3, he just kinda fawns over Max but at least in season 4, he is returned (somewhat) to his role as the Fighter of the younger group.
I believe that people would be less critical of the show if there were only a year between seasons. We’re going on a decade since its release. Seems like the story should’ve been over with by now. In 2025 if they wanted to keep with it… we should have had spinoff or a sequel series by now
I disagree with Bus scenario. I believe the bus driver would realize his mistake after backing up, and in a panic would pull forward again hoping to free the victim. At which point a witness would yell "You're running him over!" causing the bus driver to assume he parked on the body, and once again throw the bus in reverse. Then a pack of coyotes would show up, each grab a limb, and run in opposite directions, as a meteor hits the torso.
sorry for the text wall... i wont be surprised if yt deletes it.. or if you don't read it. i just happened to see this video, no idea who you are buuut.. i like the way you think. Mike is a textbook narcissist. Eddie was American Bon Scott... couldn't help but love him. i had friends like him - they were THE best in high school. i was the introvert, they were the extroverts, but i always felt protective over them because, even though they embraced being outcasts they didn't like being judged. Jonathan never had a personality. i knew kids like him in high school too. they smelled funny, never washed their hair, and yeah total creepers. Steve was right to smash his camera. but Nancy was turned on by it.... for some reason. I immediately identified with Max. she was me as a kid - older brother and all. it's probably a good thing this didn't exist back then because she would have been a terrible influence on me - or a good one. my brother was awful. season 2 was cathartic just for the way she handled that situation. Billy got what he deserved. i totally hated that "he's a bag of D's because his dad was mean" trope... like i said, i have a brother just like him. he didn't need a reason to be hateful. he did it for fun. they wanted you to feel bad for him but again... it was cathartic to see the dad put him in his place in season 2.... we're supposed to believe he's abused but he has free weights all over the livingroom, had a killer stereo system, allowed to smoke in the house, his car is awesome, he can do whatever he likes as long as he keeps an eye on his "sister".. which he resents heavily. he was not abused, he was overindulged and allowed to run wild. "Nothing about his behavior is okay"... best line in season 2.... they should have left it there. we should not have been forced to endure his early childhood. i couldn't fall for it. if they wanted us to believe he was abused they shouldn't have set it up to look like he was a major spoiled brat who was given everything. because that's the recipe that creates someone like Billy. His polar opposite was Steve.. he constantly worries about his future, his dad's expectations, his grades, his job. buuut... he's a rich kid who is given everything? See how this doesn't make sense? Steve was.. meh... he was trying really hard to be cool but deep down he's just a good person. Erica was a cool character, i knew kids like her too. JUST like her. you had to be careful around them, they were dangerous with that sharp wit. Will should have died with Eddie. i'm serious. Will was supposedly the "wizard" ...what did he do exactly? he cried? a lot. i get why he was upset in seasons 2 and 3... he was denied his entire childhood. his parents split up, picked on in school, then he was traumatized and expected to get over it and be normal, but how? when you see "the other side" there is no going back. he wanted to regress, go back to playing with his action figures, and watch cartoons while eating lucky charms. that's what people do after they've been traumatized. they either go forward or backward in an unhealthy way. Ell was trying to leap forward - she was also deprived but didn't know it until someone told her - and Will was trying to go backwards. everyone else was just living normal lives. Except for Dustin who had a secret pet demogorgon - they shouldn't have killed DartAgnon btw. They could have left out the meat watcher trope or the sad gay girl stuff and just left that to the fanfic writers. it wasn't necessary to the plot in any way. I saw what was going on when Will tried to talk his friends into playing D&D, he just wanted to have fun and escape. the others were girl crazy. i felt his pain (i had friends like him too.. would have totally played D&D with him if it would make him feel better) I never liked icecream girl. i never can remember her name.. don't care to. she should have stayed in the background or disappeared after 2 ended. Same goes for pizza guy. comic relief...and he wasnt even funny. fast times at ridgemont high vibes when what we needed was Heathers. okay maybe not Heathers... what was that 80s movie where a bunch of boys built a space ship out of a trashcan? Explorers? Yeah we needed that vibe! Nancy served no purpose after season 2. she should have disappeared off to college. maybe wrote a couple of postcards or something. what was she even doing? I don't remember. i didnt like the big reveal. i was ready to turn it off when that happened. it was like they were just grasping for anything, they lost their passion. something went terribly wrong in the earth's timeline or something. if i ever find way to go back in time i promise i will fix it. I forgave it because off the Russian stuff going on in the background - if you've ever read the early 1988 Wolverine issues, it had a ton of that going on and i loved it. they could have made that whole season about them and put the big reveal off until the next season when they actually had a good plot. Nevermind the Will/Veccna stuff.. veckna? Nevermind that. they should have focused on the Russia side story, cut out 90% of the other stuff or saved it for later. Eddie could have been in the final season where and Will die in a tragic blaze of heroic glory. The wizard and the minstrel.. ok i'm done.... not really but i've said enough. sorry again. good video.
I liked Mike but was disappointed that there was no real character development for him in later seasons. He seems abandoned by the creators. The plot is too far gone for the show at this point, so killing off any more characters could make it worse because their investment is the only thing carrying the show now. It's probably better to just phase out screen time from many characters to bring the show back on track, especially cutting out time from Joyce and Hopper who have been derailing the plot for far too long with their whole Soviet side story.
The Mindflayer and Vecna are different beings. The Mindflayer gave Vecna his powers so that Vecna can use those powers to create pathways from the upside-down to the normal world. As they stated in the show: "Vecna is a general of the Midflayer." 11 pushed Vecna/1 to the upside-down where he met the Mindflayer.
Honestly in my opinion they should’ve ended max off 🤷🏾♀️ it would’ve been sad but like it needed to happen that main character armor gets annoying sometimes
What I don't like about the writing of Mike's character (and sometimes Lucus) is these characters act like their lives have been normal for the pasted few years and nothing crazy ever happened to them. They start off every season like the last season never happened and it's time for everyone to move on and be normal teenagers.
I mean at this point crazy shit happening is Normal for them, plus the government is pretty much forcing them to stay quiet about it anyway. It seems pretty normal they'd wanna put it behind them and try to pretend things are back to "normal"
@@sorrenblitz805yes but that only works during downtime. Once shit hits the fan again they should immediately get back into the mindset of "I'll prolly die"
10:01 that’s exactly what happens to many a teenage boy when they encounter their first love. It was actually highly relatable. They wrote these characters as they should have. The children and teenagers they are. Not as typical movie versions of kids and teenagers.
i liked season 3 in general but fax soldierboy was defiiinetly the reason you could even say season 3s the best season, subjective obv but yeh without soldierboy people would only compare season 1 and 2
Eddie was my favorite of the post-s1 characters thus far, I'm not as caught up as most other viewers. If I was a character I would be Eddie that is expressive yet people underestimate. And a bit of Will and Dustin (minus the crush on Mike). I like the actor for Eddie Joseph Quinn got to meet Metallica after, awesome moments for real.
@@HoodOfCrows Eddie was the best part of season 4. I literally said "fuck you Stranger Things!" and threw in the towel when they killed him off! Hawkins can burn for all I care!
All of the 4 boys were significantly better in season 1. Lucas just becomes a complete tard. Will turns into a fairy incel in the most insulting way. Dustin does grow to be very useful with Steve but he's also background dressing. And Mike grows to becoming just toxic masculinity without the masculinity.
Totally agree about Mike. Here’s my idea: Vecna targets Will, knowing Mike is a shared weakness for both El and Will. Vecna manipulates Will to betray El, captures her, and when Mike predictably rushes in to save her, we get a brutal, detailed scene of Vecna tearing him apart. Perfect ending for him.
@@hassansulaiman3848 I mean if it’s for holly or karen it could be mid season also Mike looks the same as his 1987 look with the same types of cloths but if you think mike survives who do you think dies ?
The problem with keeping Eddie alive would be that Eddie would have gone straight to prison the moment the authorities got hold of him. There's no way in hell anyone in a position to help him would believe the his version of events.
I don’t know how they’re going to explain hopper coming back to life to the police department, but if they do, hopper is on Eddie’s side. He was sympathetic when he went to prison the first time.
Theyre gunna bring him back. The Vecna / Cas thing. He is gunna be a vampire type character. At least, thats what the D&D plot season 4 revolves around would lead us to believe.
7:19 "not this stick of celery right here" Brother, you had me howling with that one lol Great video btw. I agree with you. The show has really fallen off
I totally agree with everything you said they definitely need to kill off Mike and eleven if there gonna kill off any main characters. People are saying that Steve might get killed off hell no not the GOAT.
It's too late for that. Killing main characters at the end of the series when no consequences would have to be addressed by the narrative is simply forced, cheap, cowardly and lazy. They should just keep going with their Scooby Doo way of storytelling and give their zoomer audience a happy ending, essentially the same garbage they have been getting since S2,.
I wouldnt call will being gay woke. I would call it forced A real missed opportunity since his connection to the upside-down should give him a dynamic with 11 and maybe even some power of his own if they want to go down that route But no we need to hear running up that hill on repeat for 45 minutes
Will being gay has been obvious since season one, when no real plans to have another season was in the cards. The problem with it comes that nothing is build out of it, 3 seasons to give any depth to that characteristic of him but it was wasted with him being in a partial coma or just being melodramatic or passive aggressive grumpy. They don’t give him any depth and decide that on season 4, he will tell his best friend that has a long ass relationship with his adopted sister that he is also very much friends with, that he is in love with him. It makes no sense, it makes him slightly sociopathic. Be gay my dude, but don’t go after your sister boyfriend!
@@b.castilho4011 Bro never went for Mike. Bro sat there the entire season as Mike vented about his relationship issues and even pushed Mike to tell El he loved her. also "don't go for your sister's boyfriend" Will was there first so shouldn't it be "don't go for your brother's crush" ??? Spoiler it's neither. Let's just not
Yeah but this made him sooooo much more interesting to the younger crowd, they should have capitalized on that stunt and pushed him more into the spotlight, but instead they pushed him to the side because they thought it would be bad publicity- turds.
Will imo is the most complex and most interesting of the 4. But they reduced him to a depressed teen who loves his best friend. And that's completely real and valid experience, but I wish that wasn't his main arc. - So much could have been done with Will and Jonathan in season 4 . Ugh, it makes me so sad. And same I wished they just left the mindflayers orgin a complete mystery, or that only will understands the link idk it's anti climatic now
I think they focused on that in season four, however if someone thinks will is only a gay teen with one sided love towards his best friend, I would seriously have to consider their media literacy capabilities. I wished they showed more of wills personality in season four, but he did stand up for himself and have a personality. His character isn’t just being in love with mike, he’s a sensitive kid who was forced to grow up to fast and deal with a society who belittled him. One of his main things is that no matter what, will doesn’t conform to be liked, even when all his friends did.
@@xxchipsxx9288 I don't consider Will to just be "a gay teen," but that's exactly what the writers thought of him, mostly in season 4. Will deserved way more than he got in season 4, a number of characters did. Will is probably one of the most interesting characters on the show. They just done so little with him to make it compelling. Because they focused on his crush with Mike as his main arc, unfortunately.
The passion and dedication of hatred in Mike's death was just so deeply poetic and full of heart, almost the shakeseprean level, Netflix should learn that this can be happening.
"i know people are just going through the motions in life because they like mike" seriously hes such a shitty person but the show frames him like hes not which makes him such a shitty character.
Dustin is the backbone of the crew. He’s the glue that holds them together. He’s always been the best strategist in battle And when Eddie dies in Dustin’s arms, that BROKE MY HEART💔 Both of those guys were misunderstood outcasts who were actually good genuine people. Eddie was the big brother that Dustin never had
Thank you for this. I particularly like how the bus driver backs over Mike again. I think they started the first season with the idea that it was a show for adults, and then in later season felt it was a show for kids. That's why it got a lot less dark.
i actually didn’t watch it till last year bc i thought it was a cheesy teen show from netflix, probably coz the main actors are teens but i felt the same it gets less and less ‘scary’
14:20 the mind flayer has always been there, but vecna gave the mind flayer shape. In the scene in which Vecna explains his backstory to eleven, he also said that he discovered new things, in that scene you also see the mind flayer as a cloud of particles that Vecna distorted into the mind flayer that we know from season 2
"He should be the leader." 😂 That had me cackling...because it's true. The show had a lot more going for it when it seemed like it would be an anthology or stop at season one.
14:40 I felt the same way with the Whitewalkers in Game of Thrones, they annihilated the mystery in the show with the lamest uninteresting reason ever.
Dustin is definitely the best. Ive always thought of him like jamie kennedys character from the original scream movies. The one that solves things by using their unique knowlege of a subject they geek over.
Very true! Every body is telling me how the show first season is good because is so 80's... Unfortunately they all born late 2000 and I was born in the 70's and I feel the fakeness of the show.
@ I’m aware that I’m stating the reason as to why he was evil “ would be because he was jealous and enraged by the feelings he had for Mike “ do you not know they almost destroyed Doctor Who because of the Queer Drs Romance and they thought it tarnished a “fake characters”legacy. It’s not even about the representation they would probably be upset with the motivation for him being evil that drives the plot
The biggest problem aside from the shows problems are when you call out the nonsense.....ALL THE SUPERFANS start wrting fan fiction for why things could have happened
I’m so goddamn tired of the phrase “head canon”. Not everything has to have a deeper meaning. Every continuity error doesn’t need to be explained. Every single character doesn’t have to be “shipped” with another character. Fandoms can be very annoying.
What's funny is they've built up these characters so much so I can care about them if they do d.i.e., but it's been so many years since the last season that I won't give two s'tihs when they actually start getting rid of them. If they even make a new season, at this point all I feel is apathy with these shows now. They just take too long.
zaffy, your passion for writing, storytelling, film and television is fun to watch...you have great ideas and constructive criticism that are always well thought out and stay true to who you are as a storyteller.. however, your hate, your passion, youre DESIRE to witness Mikes horrifyingly violent death and his final excruciating moments, in slow motion.... are not only hilarious, they dwarf every other aspect of your character. you are a vessel of hate for Mike, theres no room for anything besides the fantasy of mikes excruciating death. you need therapy, let mike go...and get back to what you love ....pointing out all of the dumb mistakes writers make in tv and film. but seriously....the "i want mike to die the most painful death imaginable" theme of this episode had me rolling. i dont know why you only have 18k subscribers. great channel bruv.
Bruh every single one of my thoughts put into an organized video, I even have the same favorite characters of the show. I absolutely loved the show especially for the cosmic horror of a different twisted nature creeping into the normal world in a lovecraft way, the mind flayer could’ve been one of the best adaptation of a Lovecraftian monster created in decades and they just ruined it all… The closer the last season had of a mystery was with Eleven’s past (That I honestly was not actually caring tbh and it would’ve even be more interesting if she was in fact the one who killed all the other kids) I’m honestly rooting for everyone to die in the final season because I really don’t care anymore (except for Dustin, Steve and Hopper).
For Mike, he was right to call out Hopper. Hopper locked Mike in his car and threatened him, after lying about his Nana being sick, which is pretty messed up. Mike was obviously confused when Eleven hit Angela with the roller skate. Eleven said her and Angela were friends, and Will told Mike that Eleven was lying, and he didn't know what to believe at that point. So much was going on, and of course he was going to freak out when Eleven hit Angela with a roller skate after all that, he didn't know much about what was going on.
Agree with every word. Eleven should have died end of S1, surviving watered down her sacrifice and she's so overpowered you know she'll turn up and save the day at the end. I'd like to see non-magical characters having to solve the problem themselves.
By the time the show finally decides to come back I'm not going to give a shit and want everyone dead. It's been beginning to suck for a long time. Since the bastards killed Eddy they need to at least let Steve live.
@INFP-Turd as I understand from what was said when it first started,it was different stories and actors. But they changed when it was so popular and went with the 1 story and same actors.
why season 2? just a rehash of season1 cut season 2 and you have a great miniseries that becomes a classic or perhpas an anthology series that ends up like fargo or true detective
@username.exenotfound2943 well,I pretty much said that. I was giving leeway and or saying if they wanted to work with them. They could have created a new project, but if youve watched hollyweird you know how they like to shoot themselves in the foot over money. Mess up good ptojects when something is popular.
s3 is when all of the characters writings went downhill. i truly believe s3 ruined most of the characters and s4 didn’t help by sidelining and separating everyone. i mean, el was literally dying and the cali crew was js driving around doing nothing but havjng deep conversations (which was needed for will and mike but they didn’t do enough for the supernatural plot). i love every character but some of the writing choices are just crazy
Season 4 killed this show for me. I'll still watch it whenever it finally comes out but I have zero hype for it. The Mindflayer was the most interesting thing in the show and they had to do the typical "it's a human villain trope".
I think best case would be that the mind flayer was playing vecna making him believe he is in control when the mind flayer just wants to be free to do what ever in Hawkins.
The music genre featured in stranger things is called Synthwave/Retrowave, you can thank me later. Artists I recommend are -Power Glove (and Blood Dragon soundtrack) -Daniel Deluxe - Carpenter Brut -Lazerhawk
I felt it was pretty clear what the show was going to be from season 1. Soft magic system where things just happen because the writers want them to, and things just work out for the good guys, because the writer says the good guys have to win. . This doesn't mean Stranger Things is inherently bad. But to pretend like it was supposed to be some deep masterpiece with an intricate yet cohesive plot, and shocking character deaths... no, it was never any of those things. And it was never meant to be. It's a fun, family (teen+) friendly horror fantasy (not sci-fi) series. . Not every TV show needs a red wedding. The reason the red wedding worked, was because GRR Martin had put a lot of effort into creating a gritty world where characters faced consequences for their actions (or inactions). In a show where Jim Hopper can survive sitting right next to a nuclear reactor melting down, having characters all of a sudden start facing consequences would feel extremely forced... . In other words, Stranger Things has unfortunately pigeon holed itself into the "family friendly horror" genre. And therefore, the show will likely never have any real depth or consequences. I don't think I'm alone in thinking Stranger Things was a perfect setting for a more adult horror series with more mature themes and real consequences. I feel like a lot of the complaints on the show I have seen have been in one way or another touching on points like this, asking for more depth or maturity in theme. But that wasn't the way the directors went... and they were still wildly successful. So I guess what do we know right?
your analysis of the mind flair is so spot on, they killed off the other-worldlyness of the flair for some stupid plot. They could've went with The Mind Flair and Vecna having some relationship in a different way.
As someone who has been a Stranger Things fan since 2019, I mostly agree with this video's statement because the show's writers have only been killing off the side characters and none of the main characters. I think that Hopper should've died at end the end of Season 3 and I believe that the only reason he's still alive is because the show's writers and fans want him to end up with Joyce. I really hope that Steve doesn't die during the events of Season 5, because it would be a bad idea to let such a good character go to waste. Also, there is no way that Max could've survived her encounter with Vecna because of how powerful he is. This is proof that the whole "Stranger Things writers and showrunners refusing to kill off any members of the main cast" thing is having a negative effect on the show's writing. But, I know that there are also other reasons why Stranger Things is suffering as a story. The lack of character development is one the other problems that this show has. The Stranger Things character Mike Wheeler is a great example of this issue, but I would also like to say that I disagree with the whole "him always being a bad character" thing. I personally think that Mike was a decently-written character during the show's first two seasons, but unfortunately that had all changed with the release of Season 3, which had completely ruined his entire character for me. (At least, that's my perspective on Mike Wheeler as a character, because I know that other people have good reasons not to like him and I completely respect their decisions.)
MIKE SPOILER:: HAHAHAHAHA it's already confirmed from leaked set photos that Mike is one of the only characters we know for 100% survives into the season finale.
I hated the second and third season for the giant wasted potential. The entire first season was about a single small fry creature of the upside down world and how much trouble it gave the regular world. But then instead of slowly going up the hierarchy of threats the upside down world had to offer they immediately faced the "big bad" boss of the entire upside down world. If they had shown some decent writing skills and slowly built up the stakes by introducing and expanding on all the other threats the upsode down world had to offer, the show would have had far more longevity. But instead they made it seem luke the upside down world was a baron land with nothing but demigorgins, bats, and the mind flayer. They did well in the fourth season by introducing a "dark magician" and making it seem like the upside down world did in fact actually have some more expansive world building. But then they messed it up by saying "nope it was veckna all along" and saying the mind flayer worked for him. Totally wasted potential.
I usually just go with the flow while watching Strangers Things, but you bring up some really solid points. I really hope they amp up the stakes in this final season.
Season four was a mess. I don't know why the writers thought bringing Brenner back from the dead just to help 11 was a good idea? Them trying to make him seem sympathetic and actually care about 11 was just plain stupid. He was a despicable person, why are you trying to redeem him?
They weren't? Even in his moment of sacrifice they made it very explicitly clear that he was a fucked up person and Eleven could neither forgive nor understand his twisted view. The narrative purpose of the entire thing was basically to give Eleven that closure.
I agree with killing off some main characters but instead of eleven n will/vecna duelling it out to save Hawkins! maybe use maxs empty body as a twist for the mind flayer to use against eleven n will/vecna to seal Hawkins in darkness forever which will show who is the real villain in this show?
Best random video I've watched all day. The algorithm is winning. Dude 100% agree with everything you said. A lot of these characters can F right off as they have not contributed anything to the show in seasons.
For me Billy and Eddie was two best additions for the story. Aaand they killed them. Eddie was cool and I was really upset when he died. Totally unnesesary, but Billy! This guy had awesome story. From a baddass bullie who hates his step sister to actually carring, in his own way, person. He deserved redemption. And all they come up with him is self sacrifice. I wanted to watch the progress of this guy, how he would be a better person when he fight his demons. You know, how Steve did. And Steve became one of the best and lovable characters of the show. Billy had this same potential. But they just killed him. Very BAD move. Also killing off Billy made Maks's character useless. That;s why they put her in coma for the next season. Cause she's unnesesary after Billy's death. Her ark is over. Living her in the story makes her the same as johnathan Will and Nancy. They're out there, but they makes no sense in the story. And Vecna. Oh man. Worst villain reveal EVER! They had this Lavkraftian horror beings only to tell us it was just this dude? He's a looser and a coward! He's pothetic! This can't be the main villain! Also Hopper got to Gulag is the worst ark for the character. Just a waste of time and makes no sense. PS. I'm totally not into killing off main characters though. And the bus scenario... chillout bro. If this would happen everyone would WTF wassat?
When Vecna was first introduced, I thought he was going to be the most dangerous villain that the main characters have ever faced, more than the Demogorgon. But the reveal of his past ruined it because he was no longer a mysterious threat with no weakness. Instead, he’s an experimented human that can be kept a bay with an annoying song, and getting easily defeated by Eleven like with any other creature she faced in the Upside Down.
@LexiB-o9c wrong eleven didnt beat vecna his physically body got hurt in the real world which gave 11 the upper hand plus she got a boost from her bind with mike and it still wasn't enough of Robin didnt set him on fire in the upside down eleven would have lost
@LexiB-o9c your also wrong since we don't if vecna is in control or not he found the mind flyer he didn't create it plus the gates still opened and the upside down is invading did you even watch the show
i feel like this show should end how it started, (as they killed every new character anyway) with mike and all his original friends reconnecting again through the events of s5, and i hope eleven sacrifices herself or something.
Making Will an agent for the flayer was so obvious. I really thought that's where the show was going, it must have been focus grouped into this castrated, meandering show.
I like Lucas....i hope his role expands beyond what its been so far. Maybe he can be the one to kill Mike

The reason why no characters have been killed off so often is because the director has some sort of emotional attachment to the cast
It's honestly creeping.

😂😂😂 Yes this is perfect.
All of these problems boil down to there simply being too many characters. With such an bloated cast, certain characters will always be neglected to some degree.
Too many shows end up having side characters with a bigger fan base💀
Like My Hero Academia too
True, even The Walking Dead had this happen with Daryl who isn't even in the comics. He wasn't even supposed to be a character and becomes the most popular now he's the main character of the show and since that ended, the spinoff
I think it's cause they test out and experiment more w the side character especially character who was never supposed to be in the story and make him related to the audience or badass af but realistic af or a character they develop
Steve was supposed to die halfway in ST season 1 but now he's gonna survive the entire show and make it past Season 5 and Jonathan a character who was supposed to survive the show if the show wasn't renewed for season 2 and end up w Nancy is now expected to pass
@@AlternateMichaelthis is not the same thing as the walking dead. Lots of side and main characters died in that show. Sure Daryl didn’t, but that’s because he was good at surviving. Hell, he was probably the most skilled at survival in the whole series.

“Sexually frustrated Will vs. sexually frustrated Eleven” 😂😂😂😂😂

Thank you for making a video on Stranger Things Deathstroke. Had no clue you had hobbies outside of killing people.
100% agree with everything you said !!
Yeah that’s probably my favourite Mike scene
I feel like there is a reason Mike is acting this way, and it's going to become clear in season 5.
Like imagine this
Instead of only Billy dying in Season 3, Jonathan dies too.
I'm confused. Why are you referring to will as "them"?
@g-man9988 Yeah that confuses me too. Doesn't take away from the commenter's points though.
Yea
thats earthbounds plot
And something bad/sad happens specifically to Will
An exploration of the Upside Down would have been better.
Basically Steve became the main male character and Mike took a back seat
The mike death bit is pure comedy

You didn’t even mention Lucas. Season 1 Lucas was one of my GOATs. He was a gung ho kid who was actually pretty perceptive and ready to throw hands with the Demogorgon. Season 2 and 3, he just kinda fawns over Max but at least in season 4, he is returned (somewhat) to his role as the Fighter of the younger group.
He's black.
I think he wanted to leave the series

I believe that people would be less critical of the show if there were only a year between seasons. We’re going on a decade since its release. Seems like the story should’ve been over with by now. In 2025 if they wanted to keep with it… we should have had spinoff or a sequel series by now

I disagree with Bus scenario. I believe the bus driver would realize his mistake after backing up, and in a panic would pull forward again hoping to free the victim. At which point a witness would yell "You're running him over!" causing the bus driver to assume he parked on the body, and once again throw the bus in reverse. Then a pack of coyotes would show up, each grab a limb, and run in opposite directions, as a meteor hits the torso.

at 2:40 ...anyone else wondering how they made a child look like a middle aged midwestern house wife? what the heck happened to Eleven?
sorry for the text wall... i wont be surprised if yt deletes it.. or if you don't read it. i just happened to see this video, no idea who you are buuut.. i like the way you think.
Will was supposedly the "wizard"
...what did he do exactly? he cried? a lot. i get why he was upset in seasons 2 and 3... he was denied his entire childhood. his parents split up, picked on in school, then he was traumatized and expected to get over it and be normal, but how? when you see "the other side" there is no going back. he wanted to regress, go back to playing with his action figures, and watch cartoons while eating lucky charms.
that's what people do after they've been traumatized. they either go forward or backward in an unhealthy way. I saw what was going on when Will tried to talk his friends into playing D&D, he just wanted to have fun and escape. the others were girl crazy. i felt his pain (i had friends like him too.. would have totally played D&D with him if it would make him feel better)
I never liked icecream girl. i never can remember her name.. don't care to. she should have stayed in the background or disappeared after 2 ended.

They never really added to the story besides the love story let 11 and Mike love story atleast build more

What I don't like about the writing of Mike's character (and sometimes Lucus) is these characters act like their lives have been normal for the pasted few years and nothing crazy ever happened to them. They start off every season like the last season never happened and it's time for everyone to move on and be normal teenagers.

It's too late for that. Killing main characters at the end of the series when no consequences would have to be addressed by the narrative is simply forced, cheap, cowardly and lazy. But no we need to hear running up that hill on repeat for 45 minutes
The show has wasted Wills character.

Dustin is the backbone of the crew. He’s the glue that holds them together. He’s always been the best strategist in battle
And when Eddie dies in Dustin’s arms, that BROKE MY HEART💔 Both of those guys were misunderstood outcasts who were actually good genuine people. Eddie was the big brother that Dustin never had
Pretty much nailed all my issues with the show. Eddie should have lived. Put Mike in the coma instead of max and have will die.
Yoooo. You cooked with that fanfic at the end. Rare to see. That's the series finale I NEED
Mike hasn’t been good since season one
However I disagree
he hasnt been good period
I think the writers made multiple people in love with Mike b/c of the public crush adults and kids had on Finn Wolfhard. They're projecting
Sucks cause finn deserves way better writing.
All Mike does is like El. That’s literally the only thing his character does
18:15 this is peak.
"He should be the leader." 😂 That had me cackling...because it's true. The show had a lot more going for it when it seemed like it would be an anthology or stop at season one.
No, Mike is the leader.
@@davidostapenko2578 Was* Now he just sucks
@@davidostapenko2578why? what makes him a great lead? what has he led since season 1?
14:40 I felt the same way with the Whitewalkers in Game of Thrones, they annihilated the mystery in the show with the lamest uninteresting reason ever.
I definitely agree with throwing too many characters into the mix... same route Heroes took and convoluted sub plots.
This advice comes a bit late considering the series is supposed to finish filming any day now.
It already finished filming they are in post production for season 5
Dustin is definitely the best. Ive always thought of him like jamie kennedys character from the original scream movies. The one that solves things by using their unique knowlege of a subject they geek over.
The problem is that if they kill one of the main characters, people would end up getting angry and send them death threats
Just never got into it. It felt like a manufactured nostalgia of what other people think the 80s was like for kids.
As a kid that grew up in the 80s it’s pretty accurate. That being said, I think the show has run its course and should have ended by now.
@@Chessbox09 I grew up in the 80s too. It just doesn't pass the memory test.
@@jjohnson3469 I hear you, I guess it just depends on our upbringing and where we grew up.
Very true! Every body is telling me how the show first season is good because is so 80's... Unfortunately they all born late 2000 and I was born in the 70's and I feel the fakeness of the show.
Same. I think it's SO over rated.
16:15 I dont think they'd make a gay character evil like that in todays environment
So much backlash I could see it coming
There are a lot of modern gay villians, y'all are reaching
@TextbookSadass He didn’t say Villian he said Evil becaused it would based on the attraction to Mike not that he is gay and also a Villian and or Evil
@freeshabazz8033
Villians are often evil, I amazed that you didn't reach that conclusion from what I was saying
Eleven is literally older than the mind flare 😂
I absolutely loved the show especially for the cosmic horror of a different twisted nature creeping into the normal world in a lovecraft way, the mind flayer could’ve been one of the best adaptation of a Lovecraftian monster created in decades and they just ruined it all…
The closer the last season had of a mystery was with Eleven’s past (That I honestly was not actually caring tbh and it would’ve even be more interesting if she was in fact the one who killed all the other kids)
I’m honestly rooting for everyone to die in the final season because I really don’t care anymore (except for Dustin, Steve and Hopper).
Yes, thank you. Mike is nowhere near perfect, but there were valid reasons for some of the scenes of Mike getting mad at eleven or hopper.
This is such a funny review. Even though I like Will as a character, your decimation of him is the best 😂
You remind me of that voice in my head when I’m around someone I can’t stand. 👍🏼
I think they explained way too much. One of the main reasons the show was so gripping in the first season was the mystery of it all.
Should have ended with season 1 or maybe 2,they should have gone with the original plan.
The og plot of an anthology series taking place in different eras would’ve been PEAK
I actually like Vecna as a separate character
I think best case would be that the mind flayer was playing vecna making him believe he is in control when the mind flayer just wants to be free to do what ever in Hawkins.
That the biggest flaw of this season.dude nothing in life is that bad I think you should rewatch it man and try to enjoy it
The music genre featured in stranger things is called Synthwave/Retrowave, you can thank me later. Artists I recommend are
-Power Glove (and Blood Dragon soundtrack)
-Daniel Deluxe
- Carpenter Brut
-Lazerhawk
Well said, setting was definetly there for something more serious scifi horror tone. Sadly they didnt do anything with it😭
your right elevens whole personality just being mike and this point, then will falling in love with mike??? god save both of them please😭🙏
your analysis of the mind flair is so spot on, they killed off the other-worldlyness of the flair for some stupid plot.
(At least, that's my perspective on Mike Wheeler as a character, because I know that other people have good reasons not to like him and I completely respect their decisions.)
give into the dark side will, we have cookies lol.
MIKE SPOILER::
HAHAHAHAHA it's already confirmed from leaked set photos
that Mike is one of the only characters we know for 100% survives into the season finale.
Ill be walking into oncoming traffic
*I'm asking for more spoilers*
Who else is confirmed to survive?
will, hopper, joyce, dustin, steve, lucas, max
@motionsikmerlin2252 Well I'm glad to see Steve and Dustin on this list at least
As of right now is there any other characters 100% percent also to be comfirmed to live
3:13 you got me man 😂 you delivered it well hahaha. Had to think real hard to remember he just knew where the steel mill was lol
not the bus reversed 😭
Warhammer 40K needs a cinematic universe SO FUCKING BAD.
They would make it woke and full of feminist garbage.
It really doesn't. They would ruin it.
Henry cavil is starring in a new show
Watch Event Horizon and look at it as humans discovering the Warp.
@@JasonCone I've seen it. It's 10x better when you watch it with that head canon lol.
Dude THANK YOU for this video I found it soo cathartic. I agree with you 1000% - especially about the mind flayer!!!
I agree with killing off some main characters but instead of eleven n will/vecna duelling it out to save Hawkins! maybe use maxs empty body as a twist for the mind flayer to use against eleven n will/vecna to seal Hawkins in darkness forever which will show who is the real villain in this show?
HELL YES!!! Perfectly said. I'm so happy you put this out and is being seen by so many people.
Best random video I've watched all day. The algorithm is winning. Dude 100% agree with everything you said. A lot of these characters can F right off as they have not contributed anything to the show in seasons.
"Will should fall in love with a real dude, not this stick of celery" 😹😹😹
Nah billy was boring he wasn't even relevant lol
@LexiB-o9c your also wrong since we don't if vecna is in control or not he found the mind flyer he didn't create it plus the gates still opened and the upside down is invading did you even watch the show
@LexiB-o9c your take is so wrong I think you go reach the season before spouting nonsense
They have been too scared to kill off main characters. It usually ends up being someone who just got introduced that season
I wish eddie lived like man 😭
i feel like this show should end how it started, (as they killed every new character anyway) with mike and all his original friends reconnecting again through the events of s5, and i hope eleven sacrifices herself or something.
Will has become a fanfic Frodo.
Making Will an agent for the flayer was so obvious. I really thought that's where the show was going, it must have been focus grouped into this castrated, meandering show.
