No, I had French in school but could not really converse until I was 17 or 18 and really got interested. Language learning is all about motivation. I then went to France where I did three years of university.
Luca's accent and fluency in french never ceases to amaze me! Pretty hard to guess he's not a native speaker!!!
Luca is amazing! he can honestly pass for native in any language. his english is crazy too

@pesahson We did not provide sub-titles into other languages for the English discussion. I have nothing against providing sub-titles for other languages, but someone would have to volunteer to provide the text and we will put it up.

I was really excited to watch this series of videos, but they don't have subtitles and I only speak portuguese and english.
I get motivated a lot watching videos from you two. Hope I become a polyglot someday. I'm studying german for a few mounths already and I want to start japanese at the end of the year. Hope I can work this out.

C'est génial d'écouter une conversation de ces deux hommes. J'étais en contacte avec eux quand j'étais en France comme élève d'échange il y a quelques années - et c'est en partie grâce à leurs conseils que j'ai pu apprendre à parler couramment cette langue !
Qu'est ce que vous parlez bien le français! Souvent mes cours de langues allaient trop lentement pour moi. Donc, j'ai utilisé les films, la musique et les médias pour pouvoir apprendre hors des cours. La musique m´amusait et m´enseignait la langue au même temps.
Félicitations, chouette vidéo! Cela fait plaisir de voir -enfin!- des discussions sur le polyglottisme dans d'autres langues que l'anglais. Vous êtes super fluides et vous avez de bons accents, c'est amusant de voir que Steve a un accent québécois sur certains mots.
I'm happy. I understood more than 95% of that discussion. Now looking forward to spanish and chinese. A part from that a brilliant and interesting discussion as expected and anyone who couldn't understand it. haha!

Dans les écoles de France, on apprend l'écriture et la lecture des langues. Et quand on parle, on nous demande de respecter toutes les listes de grammaire ! Comme une "langue morte" qu'il faut déchiffrer. Mais c'est une erreur... Parce que dans la réalité, quand on est dans une ville étrangère, le plus urgent est de savoir se faire comprendre, même s'il y a des fautes ! Ce n'est qu'après, grâce à notre expérience, qu'on fini par savoir s'auto-corriger soi-même. C'est ça, une "langue vivante" !
@koolibrii These are old recordings that they did a month back. In the description they don't mention Swedish, so I think they just either ran out of topics and were satisfied, or forgot that this was a language that they had in common.

I know the difficulty of making subtitles for my own interviews in Spanish. A three minute interview takes one hour to transcribe into English.
Merci pour cette disucussion interessante, Steve et Luca! Les soutitres seraient utiles pour les autres auditeurs mais pas pour moi, parce que je comprends 100 %. En fait je suis une polyglotte toute differente parce que j'aime becoup les classes des language et j'utilise des dictionaries seulement en papier (= des livres). Avec mes deŭx ans de danois je suis dans un course de langue sur niveau avancé, donc je prepare pour chaque rencontre des text "native level". J'en suis contente! Fasulye

It seams that Steve has a slight Canadian French accent. He is like speaking from the nose, as people from Quebec do.
It's not just that, it's words like moins etc. He uses different vowel sounds
Yes, many Anglo-Canadians sound like that when speaking French. It's a combination of Canadian and international French accents.

school doesn't even really teach you to read at certain levels, at least not uninterruptedly (wait i dont know that word)

Pas longtemps après 12:00, quand Luca dit que tout est à l'écrit en France, en Espagne et en Italie et que ce serait pour ça qu'ils ont tant de mal (avec les langues étrangères). Il est bon de noter le problème existe au Japon.

Je peux comprendre votre français, mais quand j'écoute les natifs je comprends très peu. Ils parlent très different. D'ailleurs, bons vidéos.

Could I say 'C'est pour moi'? Sometimes I overthink how things are said even though they're basically the same message.

Luca has absolutely no accent!!! I'm a french native.
Il parle très bien mais fait des légères erreurs et a quand même un léger accent

@Vitallil Rudytskyl completely agree with you although i believe that they did this video in french for those people that are studying french & see what is their language comprehension, unless they did this video either. for french people only, or just to to talk to each other in french which it wouldn't make any sense! any way i believe they made this video for people who are studying french to see how much progress they've made...

bonjour à tous, de toute façon le gouvernement français n'encourage pas les langues étrangères en france de peur de perdre notre propre langue.pour preuve il n'y a pas de station de radio en anglais, pas de programme de télévision en anglais.même les stations de radio sont limité à 60% de musque étrangère.heureusement qu'aujourd'hui nous avons internet , la télé par satellite.
+manolo benoit mais le francais est très beau. J'espère plus de gens parlent francais.
Pareil, je trouve ça lamentable, le niveau d'anglais à la FAC est complètement à la ramasse, ça fait peur franchement...
oui c'est scandaleux mais ça donne un net avantage aux quelques français qui maîtrisent l'anglais.
