Thank you so much Hugo!! I'm brazilian and I can't believe I understood this whole video. When pandemic started I began to learn french with your podcast and LingQ, but I only did it for 2 months because I got depressed. After a year and half without been in touch with French I still can understand :)
Hugo pourquoi pas parler une semaine en polonais avec ta copine puis la prochaine semaine en français (et laisser tomber l'anglais complètement). Comme ça vous arriveriez à renforcer ces deux langues (vos langues maternelles) au sein de votre vie famiale.

Hugo's podcasts and videos have been an essential part of my French learning journey. I watched this video with French subtitles and was surprised to find out that I understood most of it. Thank you for this amazing video. I've realised that my labour has indeed not been in vain.

La façon dont vous parlez le français est vraiment impressionnante. On y détecte même pas un soupçon d'accent étranger, tout au plus un léger accent d'une de nos régions comme la haute Savoie.

I love how both of them speak French, l can understand them. I can tell Luca is a native Italian speaker, like myself l'm a Spanish native speaker and we speak French with a certain accent. Love it!

Piszę po polsku, bo znacie język polski. Bardzo się cieszę, że Wam obojgu tak podoba się w Polsce i w moim mieście Warszawie. To bardzo miłe słyszeć takie pochwały . Obydwaj jesteście moimi ulubionymi blogerami. Chętnie bym zobaczyła jednak choćby krótkie video jak rozmawiacie po polsku :). Ja posługuję sie na co dzień angielskim, redagując zaawansowane prace naukowe, weryfikuję dla wydawnictwa tłumaczenia z niemieckiego i rosyjskiego. W Ameryce Południowej używam tylko hiszpańskiego, a we Włoszech włoskiego. Rozumiem wszystko co mówiliście w tym wideo, jak też sporo brazylijskiej wersji portugalskiego. Ale tak naprawdę fascynują mnie bardziej egzotyczne języki. Uczyłam się już chińskiego, japońskiego, tureckiego, perskiego, arabskiego, gruzińskiego i ostatnio suahili. Niestety, jedna rzecz to nauczyć się czegoś, a całkiem inna to zachować. Gdy wracam z podróży i nie mam motywacji do używania danego języka, wszystko szybko zapominam. Ale pamiętam strukturę języka, jego osobliwości. nawet gdy jakieś słówka wylatują z pamięci. Zauważyłam, że językowi celebryci zwykle mówią w swoim własnym języku lub po angielsku., No i co to za wyzwanie! Byłoby ciekawie zobaczyć ich w akcji na ulicy, na przykład Hugo w rozmowie z Polakami. Jakoś mało popularny wśród poliglotów jest turecki, a jeszcze mniej suahili, choć są gramatycznie fascynujące. Przepraszam za taki długi tekst :(.
Cool video. I found it really interesting what you both said about learning grammar. I absolutely agree. I love the "input method" but I have to say that for languages that are more distant to the ones you already speak, it makes so much sense to learn (or at least have a look at) some grammar explicitly. For example if we talk about cases in Russian, they might seem complicated at first, but if you just take some time and go through them a few times it really isn't that hard to memorize them. The great thing is that after going through them explicitly so much more input will be comprehensible to you and you will be able to make use of much more content. Obviously the "traditional method" was too focused on grammar exercise etc. but I think the "input only" version is not optimal either. I think it makes sense do include both "methods" in your learning system depending on different factors... I have written a very long comment again

Je suis française mais j'ai toujours été très attirée par les langues étrangères et désormais je m'autorise à les inclure dans ma vie quotidienne sans tenir compte des opinions de mes compatriotes. J'adore le latin alors j'ai vérifié : exposition vient de exposer du latin exponere : mettre en vue. Pas d'anglicisme 😊. Belle journée à vous deux. J'adore les polonais. Thank you for this video. Hugo have been my first online teacher in French and I enjoy his videos. Now I have a second one good teacher.
My family is from the Caribbean; Trinidad and Jamaica, and we debate/discuss things all the time for hours. Here in the States that doesn't really happen, I don't think that that is a very common cultural practice. One of the things I absolutely love about the French culture is the penchant for vigorous discussion/debate. I watch C'est dans l'air, On n'est pas couche, and C a vous, daily. I've found that that cultural practice to be very enriching both on a personal level as well as enriching for the society itself. Great talk guys, and I love both your channels.

J'ai commencé à apprendre le français il y a quelques mois et je trouve InnerFrench vraiment excellent. Parlant déjà d'autres langues romanes, je n'ai pas de problème pour comprendre le français à l'écrit, mais la compréhension orale et la prononciation restent des défis. Je me considère comme un polyglotte et je suis tout à fait d'accord avec la méthode évoquée dans la vidéo : un peu de grammaire et beaucoup d'immersion. Sur ma propre chaîne, (où j'enseigne le hongrois), j'essaie de mettre en pratique cette philosophie d'apprentissage, en mettant l'accent sur l'immersion et l'écoute active. C'est toujours inspirant de voir d'autres passionnés de langues adopter une approche similaire. Merci pour ces insights précieux, ils résonnent beaucoup avec ma propre expérience dans l'apprentissage des langues.

It's interesting - I find that with new friends/relationships, whatever language you speak together when you first meet tends to stay the language that you communicate in going forward. Obviously it can change but I think in general it stays the same for me.

Hi Luca! I just want to let you know that you're one of the most interesting people that I've followed on TH-cam so far! Tu parles le français hyper bien! Your accent in English is incredible! I am watching every single video in your channel. I can't describe how much i am fascinated by the amount of languages that you speak and how well you can master them! I am Arabic native speaker and I speak English, French, a bit of Italian and i'm working hard ate the moment in the German language. My goal is to speak 10 languages so far after i well master the Italian and the German languages, and i'e found the right person to learn from his experiences. Chapeau pour toi! Bonjour, je vous remercie pour cet interview. J'ai appris plein choses intéressantes avec vous. Je trouve que c'est quand même important de connaitre la base de grammaire pour mieux apprendre une langue surtout pour les personnes qui parlent une autre langue très différente de la langue apprentissage. Comme moi par exemple, je suis vietnamienne et j'apprends le français. grâce au grammaire , j'arrive mieux à comprendre des choses au début. Mais après ,comme Hugo a mentionné, il faut être exposé à la langue au maximum (l'input). C'est une super vidéo. J'espère un jour je peux bien parler français. Bonne journée.
Polish grammar.... Your teacher asks you what the ending is, you say something and she says 'Nie'. Happens all the time! And there are no rules! Even different months decline differently, so you get 'Lutym' ending in 'ym' and 'Listopada' ending in 'a' - nightmare!
Polish is such an interesting language, but it is so hard to pronounce. And why do they need over 12 words for 'you'? I don't even know exactly how many there are....
But I'm having a lot of fun learning Polish. And that's all that counts , in the end.
'Real Polish' is very good, as is 'Polish with John' - And there is always 'Swinka Peppa', which is quite easy.

Excellent interview or perhaps rather a conversation. Great material for intermediates like me. Interesting and gives a feeling of being in charming company.
Bravo Luca and Hugo! enjoying both of your videos, what a treat to see you both chatting away! To be honest, both of you are speaking quite fast, that is, speaking as you would to someone whose mother tongue is French, and so it is a little bit challenging for me and I did have to pay attention while watching the video, but I came away understanding most of it because it is interesting conversation and even if I don't get an expression or two, I can more or less understand what you re saying from your gestures and expressions - Best Wishes to you both!
Its interesting to remention it, but its true. Hugo helps us learn francais, he gives the input, but Luca shows us how to do absord it, he keeps us motivated, which is a requirement in the first place. Thanks Guys

My native language is spanish and I think the "EN" "Y" "Dont" etc are the most difficult things. In general i dont have problems with the l' la or le because they are the same as in spanish

Je suis française, passionnée par les langues, anglais allemand, formatrice coach, à la retraite, passionnée donc encore bénévole, quand je le peux, Formatrice dont de jeunes garçons en apprentissage, pas souvent passionnés, et souvent dégoutté par le système scolaire, ou en cours particulier, bcp pensaient avoir des problèmes intellectuels et en fin de compte, ils n'avaient que des blocages, provoqué par des émotions négatives, induites par l'école, la famille, ou meme les mémoires inconscientes, voir intergénérationnelles.
Ai aussi lu, je ne sais plus ou? que améliorer l'estime de soi, donc la confiance en soit peut grandement améliorer la capacité à mémoriser ah les neurosciences, quel trésor!.
passionnée par la difficulté d'etre humain, donc pas mal de livres dans ma bibli. dont, " Aptitude et affectivité dans l'apprentissage des langues étrangères," Paul Bogaards, concernant la musique et les lanques, j'avais écouté un jour sur france inter, du temps ou cette radio était intéressante. que pour aider les enfants à apprendre les langues il fallait leur faire écouter de la musique instrumentale, et leur faire reconnaitre chaque instrument dans un ensemble joué en meme temps, je suis passionnée de musique depuis toujours, de chants, meme si j'ai une petite voix, mais juste, oui, les langues sont en grande partie des musiques. A mes élèves, je leur donnais cette image de ce que doit etre leur cerveau afin de pouvoir s'exprimer le plus vite possible, dans la langue étrangère et donc de quitter leur langue maternelle, "votre cerveau doit etre séparé par une porte battante, style porte de saloon, dans les films western", vous poussez dans un sens ou dans l'autre, très vite, et aucune résistance ne se passe. Une autre de mes expériences, vécue, au lycée fin des années 60, j'apprenais l'allemand première langue, j'étais impatiente de partir en Allemagne en programme d'échange, donc deux semaines, notre prof nous avait dit que nous saurions quand nous serions prèts, quand nous reverions dans la langue, au moins pour quelques mots, donc en reflexe, quand nous commencerions à penser dans la langue directement. A méditer, je pense que cette remarque est pertinente.

Je suis surpris par cette insistance sur le ”r”. Ce n’est pas du tout une entave, ni pour parler ni pour comprendre la langue. En fait, quand j'étais petit à cause d’une ”déformation” naturelle, je prononçais le ”r” à la ”parisienne” et mes instituteurs faisaient tout pour me corriger. (Ils ont aussi essayé de me changer de gaucher en droitier:). Aujourd'hui je suis ambidextre et je sais prononcer le ”r” roulé comme les espagnols et le ”r” du fond de la gorge comme certains français et quand j’ai apprise l’arabe, quelle fut ma joie de constater que le son existe aussi dans cette langue. Mais en arabe contrairement au français la distinction entre les ”r” est cruciale car cela change la signification du mot de façon radicale’ pas en français! Disons au passage que le ”r” n’est pas prononcé de manière uniforme partout en France! Oui je suis d’accord un peu de grammaire peut aider (les connaissances en grammaire du niveau du cours moyen primaire sont largement suffisantes et peuvent s'apprendre en un an) et l’acquisition du reste de la langue comme les articles se fait par la lecture et par l’écoute!

à propos de la prononciation, je trouve que, quand il s'agit d'utiliser des muscles qu'on ne utilise pas avec la langue maternelle.. c'est assez fatigant
hugo a trouvé peu des differences culturelles parce qu'il est un homme blanc héterosexuel. pour les femmes, pour les LGBT, ça change beaucoup de déménager de l'europe occidentale à l'europe de l'est.
