I love how you were so real with those newer Mommas. As a woman with kids in HS and upper MS I just want to reinforce what Shannon is saying because it's 100% true. As they grow the messes become more managable and the efforts you put into cleaning will become less. So, please enjoy your young children and know that it's all ok. Us older Mommas are cheering you on and not really into judging since we have been there. Love to all of you 🤗
Realistic homes look like these; busy Moms juggling between taking care of kids, family, meals, bills, appointments, resting and have no time left to take care of ourselves. Love your videos for being more realistic. This is not a model home with spotless, dustless perfect home. Real people with real mess!
I cannot work at my home non-stop especially since I retired from a job I had for 13 years during my senior years. Therefore, I follow the flylady way to work for 45 minutes to an hour and then, rest for 15 minutes. I worked on my morning routine up to putting dishes away. Now, I'm giving myself rest and I chose to watch your video. After my 15 minutes are over, I might just continue to watch the video all the way through before I go back into the bathroom to tidy up.
You’re doing a good job! It’s not about having a perfect house. People live there. But you are teaching your kids a life skill, and that is how to pick up after themselves and not live in chaos!
I sometimes make a list of what I’ve already done instead of a to do list when I’m feeling down on myself. It helps me to realize that I do a lot without thinking just to keep everyone going in the right direction and I’m AMAZING!!! 😂😊❤❤❤
Yes! I do this too!!! At one time, I kept those lists for about a year and looked back on them. I was amazed at how much I had gotten done even though I was thinking that I wasn’t doing much at first.
Totally resonates with me. I only have one tiny tornado but wow, the mess they make with dad is incredible. This morning I got the carpet cleaner out to clean chocolate hands off the stairs on the landing and at the bottom of the stairs. Heavy, noisy thing to push around and clean on a hot summer day in the UK England. Feeling quite satisfied after I'd cleaned the cleaner only to find little one adding water to his yoghurt pot and dropping it all over the carpet on the stairs... again 😢. Also mowed the back garden, done a bunch of laundry and now I'm feeling shattered. Tomorrow I'm going to physically pay for it. However, if I don't do anything, it never gets done. I'm going for 3 hours better reset. Birthday party tomorrow for our little one, so will probably end up with loads a mess and spillages again. Thanks for inspiration and encouragement. Tumblers could be use for a little ones mud kitchen outside.
Hi from Southeastern Ohio. I watch you regularly but rarely comment. Just wanted to send a message to say how wonderful you look and you seem to have more energy. Sometimes you seem really down. But not today 😊Thanks for the uplifting chat and video.
I heard a quote that said something like if you only have 80% to give and you gave 80% effort, then you gave it 100%. That really hit home. It's true if you gave it your best effort that day, that is more than good enough. Doesn't need to be perfect.
That sniff test made me laugh! Kudos to the secret closet genie who straightened the closet! Your doggies are adorable. Our lab is like that. We can't do ANYTHING without her help and doggie kisses.
OMG - I thought I was the only one that can't do the 'take it there now' ... I suffer from sidetrack-itis, and whenever I would move from the task I was focused on, a squirrel would dip it's butt in glitter and run across the room making me chase it .... I love how kind you are to yourself, and I know it's not easy. And part of the trick is just saying it outloud and that's what we're here for.
I realized a few years ago that I could handle the messes so much better when I reduced the toys to an amount I could manage, better for my kids and better for me, and a lot less clean up time!
I absolutely cracked up at your commentary over the underwear sniff. Almost spilled my morning tea. 😂 When you declutter a communal area, don’t be afraid to have kids and hubby be your runners for “take it there now”! Enlisting help (as you have so successfully done for maintaining zones in your home) is a great way to increase the energy expended on a single area without stretching yourself too thin.
Tiny tornados, that is such a great description for smaller kids. Please wish me luck when I am intending to take my tiny tornado on an airplane in october.😊
I think that getting some fun loving from your furbaby was so worth going over your time by 3 minutes. That part put a big smile on my face 😊 I love seeing your dogs ❤
tbh until I found you I had never heard of that deal with it now or the one hour better, but it makes such a huge difference. I have progress no matter how busy or how tired. your journey has made mine so much more successful ❤
Great work today, Shannon! I put any scrap metal at my curb for recycling day. The scrapping guy comes by and gets it because it is visible out of the actual recycling can.
I've been trying to inundate myself with POSITIVE self talk and have failed so much. At 80, I'm doing way better and you are such a joy in my life and a help. You have touched my heart. I am my husband's care partner { he is 96 } and the love of my lifer but I forget to take care of myself. You remind me. Thank you for you. Fondly, Dorothy.
girrrllll you are a hoot 🤣 Ive been watching cleaning channels for about 5 years now, and I am so happy to have stumbled upon yours today. You are hilarious and I absolutely love your energy and style of filming. Thank you for keeping things real with us and for sharing your life! I was loving this whole video and couldn't believe it when you mentioned your dogs- I also have a chihuahua/pug mix!! You are awesome!
Thank you so much. I watch you all the time on TV so I never comment or interact but I got online just so I could tell you that this spoke to me so hard today. (Yes just my strong opinion ) Good decluttering. You got this;If not in this video I do really like to see a follow up video of stuff being donated / trashed!!!👏🙃
Amen to avoiding that sniff test!! I live with all males and sniffing is the least of it! I’m afraid to even touch them lol I LOVED watching you getting baptized by the dog licks😂they’re part of the family so I would love to see even more of them😃✝️🙋🏻♀️
It’s so hard when our best isn’t the same as it used to be. There are so many different reasons for that; our physical health, our mental health, our emotional health. I am at a place now at age 55 with a degenerative back issue that physically, my best isn’t what it used to be and it’s so frustrating! It has affected my mental and emotional health too, along with some other factors. I still have two kids at home, homeschooling (3 have grown, graduated, and have families of their own). I still have so much to do! I’ve been working on a mindset shift for the last few years, trying to be OK with my best now. It’s hard! Your content has really helped me get to a better place. Thank you! 💗
That is awesome! That the kids are helping. Great job! Try to make sure that the rooms down stairs are aways picked up. So when somebody comes it is aways ready for them. Just trying to help you.
Really loved this video. As Grace & you would say “So satisfying”!! Lol It’s amazes me how much you do on a daily basis. Glad you are taking time to rest & or have alone time as that is real important!! ❤U😘
I'm watching your videos when I should be going to bed but I'm making my to do list for tomorrow to tackle some spots in my house I can declutter. Thanks for the inspiration!
I do the managed piles also! I find it efficient and I can focus on that task all at once. I think the touch it once is probably helpful when you find yourself picking things up - putting them down - picking another thing up - it gets you started when you're stressed but when you're on the go running all about to deal with the one item you have in your hand just doesn't make any sense without first checking if there anything else like you might need to do the same with. Especially with stairs! Only going up them as much as I have to!
I was so happy when I opened TH-cam and the first thing was this new video from you. 😁 For "take it there now" I have a medium size bin with me while working, and when it's full I take the stuff around. With chronic fatigue it's best for me not to take all things immediately so I can get through a bit more, but I tend to crash suddenly so if I make piles they're likely not to get dealt with today. At worst I have one bin of stuff to deal with next time. And every time with the wet shirt from cleaning I say I should use aprons more, but rarely do.
Thank you so much for your encouragement on cleaning with a toddler. I get so discouraged when I clean and then an hour later it looks like a tornado hit it again!! 😩
Good morning! Look at the loveliness the top of your dresser is! Pretty! You are right about the sniff test - Why do we do that?!?! What are we saving?! Lol 😂 I'm so glad that didn't go horribly wrong! 😂 I hope you have a really wonderful day! 😁
when our kids were little we cleaned the toy each night before dinner .. I did it with the kids .. and yes we had to do it daily but the kids also started the each day with a clean room and it worked great .. they didnt get overwhelmed with a messy room.
I laughed out loud at the sniffing of random underwear! I am having to talk myself into letting go of perfection at the moment, having pulled some lower back muscles (for the second time in a month). If the dishes don't get washed today, they will probably get done tomorrow.
Great job! Like you, I do best tackling a limited area at one time, then dealing with the little piles. Otherwise, I get overwhelmed & exhausted & wind up with a bigger mess, things in boxes or baskets or piles that just wind up being unknown mess. I do, however, try really hard to “take it there now”as I’m going through my daily activities. Doing that helps me not continue to make messes. BTW, I love the Shark VacMop you recommended!
Thank you so much for the motivation and encouraging words! Exactly what I need right now 🌸 You’re so pretty, lovely make up and all while going through the tumblers ❤
Doing my best changes daily depending on my fatigue levels. My problem is that i always judge myself on bad days against what i do on good days. Im trying to learn to ne gentle with myself and realize today's best is good enough.
Wow!! Your videos are always so helpful. Definitely seeing you at your best today! Thank you for showing how to get life in order while dealing with serious/chronic health issues. I admire so much that you ALWAYS get back up again and are willing to share that journey. God bless you and your family!
Thank you, Shannon, for being you! This was just what I needed to hear today. I’ve been doing a lot of negative self talk this week. Trying to turn that around. ❤
It might not be appropriate for you at this time, but I like folding and storing my t-shirts and pajamas the konmari way. It makes it easy to see what I have in the drawers. My folding is NOT as crisp and neat at Marie Kondo, but it is what works for me.
I really love your videos!!! Aww your fur babies are so adorable! I absolutely agree with you on how to declutter. Taking small amounts is really great. This where people do there entire house and things of that nature is not my cup of tea!! Tried and failed! Which being a failure affects me mentally and just depletes me!
I just spent three days sleeping. Why? Because I was staying up too late for months to do things for the family. I crashed and felt terrible. Today is the first day I feel human. It scared me. My family now understands that momma has a bedtime and she’s going to bed at that time. Had to place that boundary for me and them. And now I’m playing catch up on the house. Wooooo life just keeps going lol
I just love your videos. You’re so comforting. I am struggling so hard with anxiety and resentment. I have a 3 year old and 7 month old. So much stuff everywhere, never ending dishes, the highest mental load. I know it will get better ❤
Of course it will! Ask for help and make sure you take care of yourself too. I know babies take 200% of our time, but you just do your best and that's more than enough.
Hi there! I did some decluttering in my kitchen a couple of days ago. Got rid of some stuff I haven't used in a long time, and today you inspired me to vacuum my floors ( I use my bare floor setting to vacuum my hard floors) and I've mopped as well. I just got inspiration to go thru my drawers and get rid of old pj's and socks/undies, will be going to replenish socks and undies tomorrow. I recently ordered some new pj's from shein and will get them soon.
Shannon I laughed soooo many times during this video! You are such an amazing, funny and incredibly kind person! I related to ALL of what you said! The pictures are beautiful! Speaking of beautiful, you look great in the colors you wore both days❤ You inspired me to get some chores done that I was procrastinating 😊
Thank you so much! I needed to hear your pep talk about “Do your best and let go of the rest” i also struggle with the negative mindset and am trying to change that. I am setting up my classroom for the year and we got in super late because of construction delays. I have spent 4 long days… school starts next week…I am not done…stressing….I will remember that as I go in again today My dogs are just as helpful!😂
I understand your dislike of the take it where it belongs rule. I have limited mobility and can't stand for extended periods. So I clean everything I can from a seated position and make piles or used boxes for stuff that goes to other rooms, which is done at a later time usually.
Hey, Shannon. 🌞 It's never easy to declutter, as I am now dealing with the clothes. But your videos are so motivating as always. God bless you and your family. 💛
I shared this video with my sister. You're hilarious and a joy to watch. You're very down to earth and keep it real which is awesome. I suffer from anxiety and depression, at times your videos have helped me tremendously 🙏 ♥ Love the fur babies 🐶 🐶 ♥
Just walking a few times of week. Trying to work up to everyday. Dinner low carb and Fasting 14 hours at night. Still getting some elevated numbers, so I’m not sure I will get to remain diet and exercise only.
@@LeafLikeOnATree it's always tricky, I think, with or without meds. At least you are tech savvy, they have all kinds of neato gadgets if you can figure out the technology. 🙃 I'm an old dog so no new tricks for me. I found that salad is the only thing that makes zero difference to my numbers (with or without dressing) so there's that....thanks for sharing your life with us. You have such a positive spirit.
One trick I used to get rid of good things. Get a group of family, friends or coworkers to bring their things not wanted to a central place. Call it “Traders Village” Here are the rules. You bring what you don’t want, they bring what they don’t want. Each person takes any item they want for free! You get rid of a bunch of things. Donate what is leftover. 🥰

Action packed video. You got a lot accomplished! Thanks to your kids for helping you!! Enjoyed spending time with you!
Thank you so much! I needed to hear your pep talk about “Do your best and let go of the rest” i also struggle with the negative mindset and am trying to change that. I am setting up my classroom for the year and we got in super late because of construction delays. I have spent 4 long days… school starts next week…I am not done…stressing….I will remember that as I go in again today
My dogs are just as helpful!😂
The metal tumblers can also be donated. 😊
You are so funny!! I enjoy watching your videos so much 😂
I am so sorry for your loss.
Another great job Shannon. Thank you for the visit and pep talk❤
This was very uplifting, thank you! Omg the underwear 😂
I understand your dislike of the take it where it belongs rule. I have limited mobility and can't stand for extended periods. So I clean everything I can from a seated position and make piles or used boxes for stuff that goes to other rooms, which is done at a later time usually.
❤️ you Shannon 😊
Really like your lipstick shade...looks good on you.
Beautiful picture❤
❤I love your videos
Happy to see a video from you! Wow you DID have a lot of tumblers 😂
I love your encouragement speeches! They hit home and help!
I suffer from anxiety and depression, at times your videos have helped me tremendously 🙏 ♥
Love the fur babies 🐶 🐶 ♥
Oh thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️

Great video Shannon! You look really cute!
Thank you!! 😊 Good to see ya Carolyn 🥰
How's the diabetic diet coming? What kind of exercise have you added to your daily routine? Little Eric is a trooper wiping off that big table.
I just love your videos!❤
One trick I used to get rid of good things. Get a group of family, friends or coworkers to bring their things not wanted to a central place. Call it “Traders Village” Here are the rules. You bring what you don’t want, they bring what they don’t want. Each person takes any item they want for free! You get rid of a bunch of things. Donate what is leftover. 🥰
That sounds fun!
That was great!😊
You are awesome😊 ❤❤❤❤
So are you ❤️
Love Your Video today ❤
