Mason jars: dry food storage, protein shaker, drawer organizer for small things like chip clips, rubber bands, paper clips, birthday candles, etc.; also for storing leftovers, making homemade dressing, toothbrush and flosser holder, q tips, marbles, dice, batteries, coins, hair accessories. We use them for everything. It helps to have the plastic screw top lids for a tight seal and easy washing.

The lids need to go in one of those cube things. So much easier to pull out a cube! I keep all my bags of flours, brown sugar reg sugar powdered, monk fruit, that kind of stuff in a cube. Makes it sooo easy. Also hang a tag on those bins, so “everyone” knows what’s in there not just you!

Mason Jars can be used for a bushel of Cilantro w/ water to remain fresh in refrigerator, for a longer time than usually. Turn the lid storing white thing to it's side & use it for skillets. Use a Wet Erase Marker, to wet & erase a surface written on, not a Dry Erase Marker.

Hello Shannon, I found your channel about a week ago so I am trying to get caught up on your video's. I am the opposite of you and have OCD. I do have some depression and can not function if things are not in their places. I literally can not not leave my home if something is out of place. We maybe opposites on that way. But I found we have alot in common. Purging things. Finding homes for things. Finding energy. I have fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis and some days I have a very hard time getting out of bed. I really do understand your illness and my heart goes out to you. Alot of people suffer from different things and we can't say we know how it is or how it feels cause everyone handles things differently. But your right, we just need them to open their hearts to what we're going thru. They don't have to understand us but they could show some compassion. You and your family are AMAZING! Just keep doing you. Because you are helping people. I am so grateful for finding your channel and for all that you do for me when I watch your video's. God does know what he's doing. Keep his plan for you up! God Bless! By the way, hope this makes sense. I'm trying to watch your video and write at the same time. That can be challenging for me. Lol.

Hi-new subscriber and am enjoying your channel. I use canning jars for almost anything. I cut up vegetables and put them in individual jars in the fridge. I also use them for cubed cheese, leftovers, hot chocolate mix, sugar, flour, etc. Anything you put in plastic, you can use glass jars. I have shifted from plastic to glass and love it.

    Re: Mason Jars
    A L O N G Time Ago
I committed to using wide mouth mason jars: 1/2 pint, pint, quart and 1/2 gallon sizes all come in wide mouth so lids are interchangeable. I use them for food storage in pantry, fridge and freezer. I buy pantry items at a coop that allows you to fill your own jars - shampoo, conditioner, evoo, vinegars, dish soap, laundry detergent as well as all the grains, beans, spices, pasta, teas and coffee. I still will buy things this way, but only a few types of things are going into 1/2 gal. When I make pasta sauce or chili or soup it gets stored in a 1/2 gal jar. Frozen veggies fit in quart size on the door rack in my freezer. Most useful sizes are quarts and pints. I also use jam jars for spices as they fit better than 1/2 pints. And those came with jam we liked to eat so the jars were free.
Draw backs? Lids rust out so over time you will need/buy replacements. Glass can break so need to handle properly. Can be bulky in freezer but it is more reusable than plastic.
I liked taking soup/casserole to work in a pint jar then heating it up in microwave oven. Of course, that salad in a mason jar is a neat way to take lunch, too. Put salad topping into repurposed apple sauce mini container under the lid at top of jar.
If I break a jar, I can buy a replacement at thrift stores for about $1 ea or buy a case from WalMart at $8ish for 12. Try doing that with other similar items. More affordable than OXO and a seal-a-meal vacuum sealer can vacuum seal that size lid with an adapter. Of course, you can can in them too. I make yogurt in instantpot using 2 pint jars on the trivet, too.
So what's not to love about mason jars?!?

  • @sherylhutton138

Hi! This is the first time I watched your video. and I was impressed that you took the time to declutter and rearrange items. It is very fulfilling to see it all come together in the end. I am impressed that your husband was willing to help and he did an excellent job as well. I have a husband that doesn't want to help but would when he could (he works a lot). I love watching decluttering videos because I am too overwhelmed when I try to clean a room. I have no one around to help. My kids are gone and not close by to come and help and I am pretty much a loner person other than my husband. I have a small house so my one childs bedroom is where my hobbies are (yarn, barbies, crafting (just started that). So it is pretty cramped. So for that mason jars you could decoupage them and make them decor to hold items in (pencils, flowers etc.). What did you take out and donated or give away. Do you have a pile to show us what you get rid of at the end of your decluttering?

Glass can be sterilized, does not transfer odor and you can see through it. They are less expensive than the OXO, Rubbermaid and other trendy options. I use mason jars to store a lot of my baking supplies.....ie. baking powder, baking soda, icing sugar, brown sugar.

    Hi!
About the Masonjars... I would put bakingsoda in one of those instead of a flat plastic box... Masonjars, or any clean classic glas jars, are much nicer then any plastic containers.

Also if your shelves are buckling or dipping in the middle besides obviouspy moving heavy things to the bottom shelves and having less and light things on higher shelves you can also usually turn the shelf upside down so its dip is now a mound on top and that way itll naturally end up straightening out and will lengthen the life of that shelf. But obviously try avoid doing that in the first place.

Great job👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I did my whole house last year and enjoyed doing the kitchen most....It was the one room that I could say it was much more about practicality than being Pinterest worthy....but hey the kitchen needs to works...plus just cleaning out cupboards and drawers it therapeutic... to me anyway😂😂😂 oh and to see you moving shelves to gain space awesome.😉🙋🏻‍♀️🇬🇧💕jane

I love Mason Jars!!! There are so handy for everything. I have a small one to keep our qtips tip for our bathroom and in the guest bathroom I have a big one to keep epsom salt. I also use them for storage for leftover food, to go meal containers, pantry storage (sugar, flour, chocolate chips, etc.), and even craft items.
Have to admit just found your channel and I am loving this declutter series! I am just starting to declutter myself

I love your kitchen cabinets -- such gorgeous wood!
Wow, what a difference! You both did a great job. And changing the height of the shelves is something we often forget to try doing.
You might like to convert your base cabinet shelves to pull-out shelves (shallow drawers); they are life-changing. A company can switch them, and there's no change to the exterior of the cabinets. For the cabinets with the center post, that can be removed (you won't be able to tell ) and they will put in large, wide pull-out shelves/ shallow drawers. They're so fantastic bc you can access all your stuff. I'm in my 60s, and couldn't reach otherwise.
I think putting the snacks in that drawer would be a great idea.

Put pots and pans with each lid upside down and stack 2 pots on each other, big the small . You pull the pit and lid out together
