    Oh my goodness my mouth was watering over that corned beef bagel! It looked delicious! The fish looked really yummy too! I would love to go to London again. I haven’t been there since I was in high school. Enjoy and keep the videos coming! ❤️❤️

      Well, all you've gotta do is come visit us then! London is typically the cheapest flight from Halifax. It's worth the trip alone. SO GOOD!

      He kept calling it corned beef but it's not it saltbeef but yes you must try but dont go anywhere else but that place because they really are the best in London probably in the UK

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterolley7159 In the UK, corned beef specifically refers to the minced version, while in Canada, we refer to both versions as corned beef! The only province that seems to use the term "salt beef" is Newfoundland.
      That's why I kept interchanging the terms. Hard habit to break, when it's been called "corned beef" my entire life. 😂
      Glad we chose the best spot though! Freakin' incredible.

    Interesting to hear your experiences at Brixton Academy. There was a scary crushing incident where 2 people died recently. It seems many without a ticket try or succeed to get in without a ticket.

      I heard! The crowd for the show we went to was nothing like that. Pretty organized and orderly queue. Didn't notice any pushing or anything even. And the queue wrapped around the whole block!
      Very sad for those people though. I've been in crowds at events where I could see that happening..😕

    There are actually different kinds of sausages you'll see on menu's, the 3 main ones you'll see is the standard pork sausage which is a great all rounder and a good choice for a full English breakfast, there's also Cumberland which has more of a peppery taste, and then there's Lincolnshire which has more of a Herby taste. Cumberland is great for sausage and mash, as the pepper goes well with the mash, and Lincolnshire are great when used in a sausage casserole.

      Anja lived in the UK (Edinburgh) for five years, but I (Brandon) haven't had much of the chance to try all these different types! Hopefully in future trips. I'd also like to try some proper British cheeses as well, the next go around..like Stinking Bishop.😆
      I'd love to visit Cheddar as well for the same reason.

    • @davebirch1976
      @davebirch1976 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wherearewe-yt just visit any supermarket and head for the cheese section and you'll be spoilt for choice.
      Cheddar is available in mild, medium, mature, and extra mature.
      Double Gloucester (pronounced gloster) and red Leicester (pronounced Lester) are also very nice, you'll notice a lot of cheeses are named after where they originated. Also worth getting something called branston pickle to try with the cheese.

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheddar is probably the most popular cheese in Canada, so I've had it all my life, but I want it from the source! Hahaha.
      I've heard of Branston pickle! Really want to try it. We always end up in tiny, cheap hotels (Travelodges) while we're in the UK, so we never had a kitchen or fridge while we're there. Next time we get something better equipped, we plan on doing a proper grocery haul so we can do some taste testing.
      There are also so many British snacks, "biscuits" and "crisps" (😂) that we've not tried.
      We're looking forward getting back to the UK in the future. For now, we've got a lot of other stuff coming up from all over the place!

    As a general rule of thumb, fish and chips in a chip shop has mushy peas and fish and chips in a pub has garden peas. The chips are different too. The pub chips are crisper and chip shop chips are soggier.
    Corned beef in UK is completely different to corned beef in North America. If you see corned beef in Uk, it’s a cheap, often tinned beef that was a war ration type thing, and imo pretty gross - like the beef equivalent of spam.

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very interesting! I (Brandon) definitely prefer fish and chips from a chip shop then. We went to a proper chippy the first time we were in London, and it was much better, from what I remember.

      2000 calories a meal?! Well, then you must be a very active bunch, because this menu stated "the average person should consume 2000 calories a day"...then of course, went on to list how almost every meal of the menu was close to that. 😂
