      Oh wow! This is so cool! I would like to do something simple for my daughter. She is 5 months now but I really don't want the back and forth of wash day and Indeginous Strands has a good and simple routine. Question, did you big chop? How did you start your routine? I want to transition myself to her simple routine, althought it's so difficult to tell my mind it can survive without deep conditioner. I hope you reply. Thanks.

      @@gugushabangu4097 Hello! CONGRATULATIONS on your Baby Girl! I bet she's so cute! I really feel you should just keep hair simple. Right now I wash & twist
      my Granddaughter (age14) hair weekly. She's been with me through the whole Pandemic so far. She loves her hair in twist.....and its pretty easy for me. Her hair is past her Bra strap and mine is almost as long. Your Baby would look so cute in mini twist. Yes...I big chopped all my hair off about 5 years ago. It grew back and then I got Cancer...and started over again. It's even longer now! And so Healthy. I still use the flax seed jell & follow the same routine. 🙏🏼😊

    I never saw anyone slow cook or “simmer” their flax gel on low heat before!! That’s amazing! I could never tell when mine was done, but your way looks so much easier!
    And can I also say that I simply love how you are taking it back to the golden age of TH-cam, when not everyone was a product pusher, or click baiting for likes and subscribes and reminding me in every single video to click that damn notification bell. This is so authentic and what you are doing with your hair is so simple, yet edifying. I don’t feel like I’m watching some glamorized “channel”, but a real person who is opening up their home and way of life to me so I can LEARN something.
    Thanks sis!!😘

      J C that's really sweet of you I really appreciate it funny you say that because I also look at other videos and other girls on TH-cam and I be like damn why can't I just be more glamorous or be more this I'll be more of that and I really realize that it's just not in my nature I'm not one of those people who wears makeup everyday or feels like I have to do my hair in a different style everyday I just like to keep things really simple because to me that's what life is about it's about keeping certain things simple so you don't have to constantly live a life where you feel like you have to constantly live up to these unrealistic expectations I guess but you know sometimes I have my days. I just recently got offered a opportunity to work with the company and test their products out for reviews and I have to turn them down so I'm like nah that's not what my channel is about homie lol

    I love you sister!!! Let me start by telling you how much you have changed my life by sharing your wisdom.
    I developed an allergy to hair gels, hair dyes and started to get eczema throughout my edges in the past two years.
    My hair became super dry, brittle and throw in the itchy scalp to go along with the allergy obstacles. Lord, I didn’t know what to do anymore. My go to style was a bun and the daily struggle was epic. Now that I completed my flaxseed gel following your instructions on Monday, my hair game has changed. I am delighted to report that the experience this week has been wonderful. I moisturized mid week and used your recipe to style.
    Now Im ready to tackle this dryness, and grow out my hair. I used twists throughout the week using a home made hair oil. I will continue to use this gel in my hair, just made my second batch!! I have thrown out my synthetic hair products. I will not suffer needlessly anymore.
    Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Please share your growth oil recipe with us 💋😻😻

    I’m glad you decided to start a TH-cam channel and share your regimen. Your hair is gorgeous. Ive been growing my natural hair for seven years now and it used to be 2 inches away from waist length. Had a setback at a salon with them cutting 6 inches off. I was upset but I realized my hair is healthier now and it will grow back. Everything I learned about natural hair has been from TH-cam. I tell people I attended TH-cam university lol. I wanted to know how often do you moisturize your hair?

      Shawna Vaughn why do hair stylist always do that kind of thing and they start by telling you you need a trim and in my opinion a trim should not be more than an inch which is also kind of excessive. my hair was probably shoulder blade length and I was told I needed my usual trim and by the time she was done it was at the base of my neck and I could tell that she was lying my hero up with that little bone at the back of the base of my neck or at the beginning of my spine pushing my head forward which made it yeah, you know what I mean boy was I ticked because it had taken me awhile to grow the hair that I had and since I already had a short haircut for a while, that was my aim to grow my hair out.

      Thinking the same thing! Everyone who asks my routine has the same question and unfortunately I couldn't answer them because that's what youtube taught me. We learn then we relearn. Honestly my mind is battling with how it will do without deep conditioner and I know with some of her videos and streams she mentions that she doesn't use it. So it's the battle of the mind. I have decided to stop buying any more products and slowly introduce myself and soon my baby to this regimen.

      Zo L you can wrap your twist at night with yarn or bands to stretch them. I usually grab my bangs into a ponytail and wrap them so that they can hang long. I allow the rest of my hair to shrink so it looks like a cute little Bob. I don't have to worry about my twist rubbing against my clothes causing breakage. My hair is currently collar bone length so my twist shrinks to chin length. Trying to get it longer. Hope this helps.😊

      Julia Pettis when it comes to herbs and roots and seeds and things of that nature you really want to make sure that you are either infusing very slowly because if you do it too fast you're not getting all the medicinal property and if you do it at such a high temperature and faster than your cutting a lot of the benefits but you just have to know what herbs what routes and what seeds at the better at a higher temperature and a lower temperature the majority of them works better at a lower temperature

    I like how you simplified how to make the jail, just two ingredients and not adding any oils. I wonder if you know, I take flax seeds in smoothies and I want to make the flaxseed gel but at the same time I believe that I might be protein sensitive and I was alarmed to hear recently that flaxseed gel or flax seeds and aloe vera juice are proteins and I wonder if they are the kinds of proteins that makes my hair dry brittle with the snap crackle pop. I have sprayed aloe vera juice mixed with water on my hair because I also heard on TH-cam is very moisturizing, so how can it be both? if you know I would be interested in your Insight or if anyone else wants to respond who knows I would be grateful. Thank you.

      Sable 711 - Hi Sable! I'm not as knowledgeable as the young lady in the video, but just wanted to share my thoughts on your comment since I'm also protein sensitive. I've never tried flaxseed gel so I can't speak on that, but I can tell you that my hair does not like aloe vera at all. I tried it years ago because, like you, I heard that it was very moisturizing but it made my hair feel hard and dry. Now, I've never tried aloe vera juice mixed with water simply because I was scared to try aloe vera anything after my previous experience. You mentioned that you have sprayed your hair with the aloe vera juice and water mixture. How did your hair respond to it? If you didn't have an adverse reaction then I would say it's worth giving it another try if you haven't already. I think everybody's hair responds to products differently, that's why some will say aloe vera moisturized their hair while others say it dried their hair out. Also, aloe doesn't have very strong proteins like wheat protein or keratin, and it also contains some essential fatty acids, so some people may be able to tolerate aloe better than they would a stronger protein alone.

    • @sable7114
      @sable7114 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheLotusFlower I'm amazed that you could understand my comment at all as I look back, really jail for gel. My phone needs a hearing aid. the aloe vera juice mix with the water does not provide any moisture. I'm definitely not reaching for it when I want to wet and detangle my hair. so I am not experiencing moisturization as others have. so now I've got to figure out what to do with that huge jug of aloe vera juice. I think I can drink it? Or maybe put it on my skin. I was curious about trying glycerin as well and I heard that it was also a protein! is there anything we can use? maybe I just need to dilute it more. I certainly appreciate your responding to my comment and trying to help, good to know it's not just me and I'm glad you found out early on that your hair doesn't react positively to aloe vera. anyway, I hope you're having a good day.

    Please tell me if I am doing my weekly moisture routine correctly. This time, took shower without cap, let steam moisturize my hair, I did take my wet hands and pat my strands just a little. Applied castor oil to a few (5-6) strands at a time, squeezing it n gently... applied my looser texture flax seed gel to ends😬. Didnt wait for the ends to dry (should I have?)... pinned it up and went to bed. Am I doing this right? Please advise. I know you are coming with a video on this soon but until then your advisement would really help me. 🤗

    Do you do protein treatments on your hair? If so, what do you do to bring the moisture back if you dont use conditioner?

    • @IndigenousStrandz11
      @IndigenousStrandz11  6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Carrie Walker protein is actually not that great for my hair because my hair is protein sensitive I think because it's strong already by itself and I typically don't need to bring moisture back into my hair because I make sure that there's moisture in it all of the time if my hair even feels like moisture is going to slip out into the darkness I reapply my castor oil or my flaxseed gel to the ends of my hair I don't give it a chance to lose its moisture when you start letting your hair lose its moisture that's when breakage and being brittle comes so you have to stay a step ahead of it

    Greetings queen,
    thankh yah for sharing your experience and hair care regimen. I never could get into doing "a lot" to take care of my hair but I've always desired to be healthy so this feels so right. Have you heard of th women in Chad who use an herbal mixture and braids to keep their hair healthy and to their thighs? I recently came across th video about their traditional hair care routine and that's what lead me to your videos. Although I'm sure that th herbs they use are beneficial to their hair, I realize that th constant between your method and theirs is th proper balance of maintenance. not doing too much (washing, deep conditioning, switching up styles, etc) and doing enough (keeping et moisturized and covered up in a protective style). I plan to twist my hair up today and start this regimen for myself!
    Now I do have a question:
    Do you ever get so active that your scalp starts to sweat and if so how do you go about cleaning it? I know if I've been super active I'll start to sweat through my scalp. I'm thinking maybe just wiping my scalp and roots down with a damp cloth and something like tea tree should do th job for me... but I'm just wondering if you ever experience that.
    Again I really appreciate you sharing, I'm very excited to revive my hair!
    13love
