  • Century Avenue, located in the Pudong district of Shanghai, China.
Century Avenue, once known as Central Avenue, is about 5.5 kilometres long and 100 metres wide from the Oriental Pearl Tower to Century Park. From the Pearl Tower in the west to the Century Park in the east, it is the first landscape road in China. Known as the "East of the Champs Elysées".
Century Avenue is a trunk road in Pudong New District, Shanghai. Century Avenue is also the first urban landscape avenue with greenery and pavements wider than the carriageway. The road is an asymmetrical design, the green belt and pavements are wider than the carriageway, making the relationship between people, traffic and buildings more reasonable. Next to the north side of the pavement, there are 8 thematic, distinctive botanical gardens, so that the road has a garden landscape effect.
Century Avenue is functionally positioned as an urban landscape boulevard, and the scheme design provided by France's Chartres de Fontainement shifted the centre line of Century Avenue to the south by about 10 metres, making it the world's asymmetrical road, with a grandiose momentum and a strong landscaping effect.
