In Smash Bros. and any competitive fighting game, the most important thing to do is pick your main character. When your back is against the wall, which character will you rely on first to save you? Of course, you can play more than one character if you want, but playing too many at once could be detrimental to your growth as a player.

Of course you should have a character to commit to, but definitely pick up and learn multiple characters to the point of competency and knowing their strategies and character specific techs. Learning other characters exposes you to different toolsets that your main may or may not have which will give you inspiration to question "How can I recreate X scenario with my main?". For instance, I play Yoshi and I recently picked up Marth where I have the ability to plank at the ledge; stall where I'm hanging and still threaten my opponent. Can I do this at the ledge with Yoshi? Not particularly so. Marth can drop down and throw out a hit box with his Up B, or swat the opponent away with his Fair. Yoshi merely has his slow Egg toss which is also dangerous as you're paying the price of reducing your egg toss recovery if you get knocked off the ledge.
In a more applicable and quick example, I tried out Fox for a time and one thing that transferred over is doing a spontaneous and explosive Up Smash to Yoshi. Just fling that bad boy out there and score a kill. No need to be so conservative.
These are just a couple examples, and you'll find other examples. You'll learn other characters' weaknesses, come to understand and perhaps appreciate what privileges your character has versus others, and this will ultimately make you a more well rounded player.

For me it’s the opposite; she’s my best character by far, and it’ll probably remain status quo until I’m dead. It sometimes gets to the point where I feel like an infamous celebrity on Elite Smash; since a bunch of users will either leave the game, or quit early when they see me triumphing the game as Bayonetta.
I kinda just clicked on this video to check out the scene, but I hope you find your main if you don’t already have one 🏳️

@@m-sizzle9073 She's my best character aswell. And she does some obnoxious stuff (I think I once heard mistake describe lima's bayo as holding a plastic bag over his opponents head).
But watching Bloom4eva and Lima play at the Highest levels:
I think the bayo player will always need to have put more work into the game than than their opponent's to win.
And even if the Bayo player is a lot better/worked way harder, bayo is so light and tall and telegraphed in her specific kill options that there's always a chance for the opponent to come back and beat you.
Seeing how much less work the other top/high tier characters need to do to win compared to what you need to do as bayo, Makes me think a person would only stick with her because she is so much damn fun.

Very nice video! Honestly at this point in time it is very weird for someone to talk about the topic of how to choose a main in Smash but it is appreciated that you touch the subject with more a updated perspective than the others
I suffer of a character crisis myself thanks to this game having 80+ characters from different franchises with multiple character designs as well as gameplay designs
Not to mention that there is too much to pick from just appeal alone if you just like a character and want to have fun or go pro and pick a top tier

I play the koopalings mostly because of the playstyle, and i think i do decent with them

Tip if you bran new and want to play competitively just pick a few fighters looks appealing to you play with them for a bit then decide who you want to main and lean that fighter inside and out. If you want to pick up a new fighter because you think your main sucks. Well you probably know the roast and looked up a tier list just look at what fighter is top tier chose one out of the top 5 and and learn then Inside and out.
If you just are paying casually and can’t pick some one because there are too many options go with your favorite game series and pick one out of them. If your so new to smash that you don’t know anyone except for like Mario and pika link . Then I suggest picking a fighter that looks appealing to you and play then and just keep playing fighters until you find one you like
Only way to do it is You just gotta main who you enjoy the most in their actual games

I don't think you can escape or tech Incineroar side-B? All you can do is wait for him to use one of the three options he has, or just not get grabbed in the first place. You can tech Ganondorf's side-B grab though, so I guess a video on that is possible
