    • @AdeolaAsh
      @AdeolaAsh  4 ปีที่แล้ว +350

That would be difficult but I can try. I avoid it as to not speak over others or say anything incorrect as it’s not my culture. I include Native American appropriation in my videos because I grew up being told how to not offend nor appropriate them which is why I feel confident boosting Native American Kpop fans’ complaints. For others, it would be hard for me to know what for sure isn’t right or wrong. Maybe I’ll try and collab with people from other cultures to make that possible. We’ll see 💗

But when Baekhyun and other idols constantly mock Lucas and Kai for their darker skin, the comment section just completely ignores it EVERY SINGLE TIME. Like really? Y’all don’t find the colourist jokes as offensive as fat-shaming jokes??? What kind of stupid double standard is this???

Thank you for this! I'm not happy about kai wearing black hairstyles before but the amount of bullying he has gotten from other idols and especially his members for being "dark"(which ironic because members like baekhyun aren't even "light" either when they're not being whitewashed) is too much. Like it's never ok to bully someone and even though fat shaming obviously isn't cool either, I give Lucas props for clapping back. Baekhyun is one of the best vocalist in kpop but he has such a bully mentality and I don't see why fans keep defending that

As an Indian I know what it's like living in a culture OBSESSED with fairness. It is so bad to the point that it is normal and acceptable to publicly harrass and bully people for the tone of their skin. It is exactly like in Korea, but this needs to change! just because "it's always been like this" doesn't mean it should continue to be.
I love Korean culture and food and would love to visit there someday, but honestly I don't know how much I can enjoy the trip whilst being constantly aware of how ugly I am to them.

it's so natural for asians, even east asians, to be dark or tan easily... i'm so disappointed that the cultural standards of asian culture no matter its origin are colorist and that even celebrities like kpop idols are perpetuating negative notions with dark skin. i used to be so tan from swimming all the time, but when i got older and started stanning kpop, i unconsciously began to judge myself and others. my friends always say they're "so black" when they get the slightest bit tan and it's very concerning.

They already attacked her for wearing wigs....like sis can't catch a break. She should cover a song from a black artist and have the hair, the clothes and be like "I can do all that cause I'm a black woman". But then they'll hate on her existence 😑 bunch of lil bitches

If you come to my country, you would see at least 3 4 persons every 5 kilometers wearing box braids to look swaggy and cool. They say racial slurs to act badass. They disrespect black people by calling with names which are too offensive and disrespectful (I don't want to utter those names because they are disgusting). Kpop idols are called gays. Also this entire video makes me
question these kpop idols idea of love. Saying you love something or someone has no value because you could easily be lying. Loving someone requires action, hard actions like respecting people boundaries even if you don’t understand or like the boundaries. It saddens me that groups that i support don’t show and seem to not understand that part of love towards their black fans or just in general black people. It also makes me wonder if they have ever experienced healthy love like what I just described. This makes me concerned for them as well but that possibility doesn’t make them any less responsible for their actions and choices.

This is literally the Cycle of Abuse. Apologizing, then doing it again, victims complain and point out the abuse and how it keeps happening and why its wrong, after a little while once the abuser feels the issue passed, the abuser offends again. I am sick of the low level of emotional intelligence accepted, gaslighting and outright lies. The answer to abuse is to walk away. Leave the person, unfriend, block, delete. Stop supporting them. Otherwise, 'taking them back' only gives them silent permission to do it again. Same as any other toxic relationship.

Imagine if more Black American artists and celebrities called out the Kpop industry out for their cultural appropriation, racism, and colorism. It wouldn’t happen and wouldn’t make a huge difference but more awareness might be brought to everyone’s attention, including the kpop companies and idols. Idols look up to black American artists so imagine if those artists told them that they were not honoring hip hop culture by making a mockery out of the people who created the culture they love so much. I really wonder if that would change things.

Most Black American artists aren’t checking for Kpop so I doubt that would happen.

The Tibetan women pictured with the microbraids are usually Buddhists or Bon practitioners and are meant to have 108 braids (a special number within at least those sects of Buddhism and Bon). Having your hair "changed" from unbraided to braided usually happens around puberty and there's a whole very specific ceremony and party for it (like a Bat Mitzvah with more work!). Snatching that up without understanding the significance would be really shitty so...yeah no. Not chill even if they were mimicking another Asian style

As a white person, I'm glad to finally see a POC educating on this topic rather than the white kpop stans trying to explain to me why their idol isn't wrong. I'm not the biggest fan of kpop, but whenever I hear about cultural appropriation from groups I like and ask in the comments, I'm always met with "they didn't mean it" or "they wouldn't know". More than one time isn't a mistake...

I was literally bullied for my dark skin and told I need to stay out the sun and my natural hair is considered nappy, ghetto, and unprofessional but on a non black person it’s cool and edgy. That’s why this makes me mad.

so sorry to hear that😣 i’m white and I can’t even IMAGINE how hurtful those comments must be..simply because of your race & cultural background..gosh💔
I truly don’t understand how it’s so fucking difficult for so many ppl to grasp such a simple concept..
it’s when people (just like you) that are STILL, in 2020, getting discriminated against bc of their culture & race, that ppl of other ethnicities just need to leave the elements of that culture the fuck ALONE. decent human respect, nothing else, nothing more..smh

As an EXO-L I can't say that I've never seen or heard of this, I've been aware and I've just ignored it. I can't remember where I read it but someone once said, "I love kpop, but I love being black more." and I just have to realize what matters more to me. Exo's music has gotten me through some tough times and watching videos of them could always put a smile on my face, I've respected them so much and for so long. Yet I haven't asked myself do they respect me as a young African American girl? Thank you so much for this, and by the way, I had a great laugh at the apologies, and my favorite clip was "I wanna experience pain like black people so I could make better music." I'm not saying that's a laughing matter, It's just the only way to express my emotions at the moment. No more excuses, they're adults, and like someone else just commented, "They shouldn't have to be taught what's offensive, because if these things happened to them, they'd understand." -someone wise in this comment section. I'm so happy that I only liked one K-pop group cause some of these groups that were mentioned would've broke my heart. I'm not just going to leave the K-pop scene though, I'll be there under every offensive video, picture, tweet, snap, etc. making it known that enough is enough. Anyways thank you, and please continue on your fight for what's right, we (anyone with a properly functioning brain) are right behind you!
