    thank you!!! I used the hammer trick, with spraied oil and also pressing from the inside of the arm with a carpenters hammer. Like a fulcrum. Also beating the o-shape of the arm with a piece of wood and the hammer

    Rust is not the only reason the arm was difficult to remove. The tolerances also come into play. Good video.

    What worked for me: didn't have pb blaster/penetrating oil, so I used a couple squirts of wd's canned lithium grease on the spindle (mind you I squirted some 6 hours earlier when I first attempted the job but gave up when they wouldn't budge.
    After looking up this vid, I half screwed on the nut and grabbed wiper arm like he did and hammered 3 or 4 good shots upon the nut. It stil didn't budge. I then put the wipers in service mode (12 o clock) and so started started rocking the wipers back and forth slightly (the wipers dragging across the windshield barely an inch) once I got some slight lateral movement, I knew that the arms were loosening off the spindles, I THEN PRESSED DOWN ON THE WIPER HINGE (the opposite motion of what I'd been trying forever...no pulling/two jaw tools involved) flattening the wiper blade arm and they were immediately free. FYI, don't lean to hard on your windshields!
    Hope this helps someone👍

    I want to SEE you use the torch in the way you described. Also, I would not go hammering on the wiper stud; doing that would be bad news for the bushings involved. KROIL, time, and patience is the formula for removing arms that a puller can't access.

    Tip #2 here's a hidden nut. Now I will not show you how to attack a hidden nut. Let's go back to easily exposed nuts. Lol.

    Also you might think of using a woodworking clamp as well. Use your own judgement where to put them and then grab the plate of the clamp and rock a bit side to side to get the wiper arm loose. Always use penetrating fluid as well.

    Is this tool a specific WIPER BLADE ARM remover? Why not use WD40 or similar, leaving for, 10 mins. Just not sure bout forcing spline to spline. Damaging the splines and it's pretty well fucked. Then it's major bucks.

    Using puller not really a trick. The second technique of backing-off the nut and whacking with hammer while pulling evenly up worked like a charm. Thanks! Cheers.

    Use some Blaster 1st and let it penetrate for 15-20 min. then use the Puller.

    Use a pry bar or screwdriver

    • @DrivenAutosports
      @DrivenAutosports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not a great idea as there is not anything strong to pry on, just plastic cowling, thin sheet metal underneath and windshield.

    Cant you use a pry bar
    Edit: Yes, you can

    • @DrivenAutosports
      @DrivenAutosports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      my answer is no, not if its seized on. what will you pry on? the windshield or plastic cowling? thats not an effective way with the pry force youd need and the fact that theres nothing firm around wiper blade arms.

    • @owentv1050
      @owentv1050 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DrivenAutosports I got one (passenger) off with a pry bar and the other with a 5lb slide hammer. I’ve done this 3 times now so I’d say it works.

    • @DrivenAutosports
      @DrivenAutosports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@owentv1050 slide hammer will not work on majority of vehicles as the hood is in the way, and you may have got a fairy none seized arm off with a pry bar but the reality is that the majority of people will not be able to do this and also they may accidentally break the windshield while attempting that, so i wouldnt suggest it as the best method. i am glad you had some success with it however.

    • @DrivenAutosports
      @DrivenAutosports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@owentv1050 what you dont understand is not every car is the same. yours sounds like they are not stubborn and you have tons of room for a slide hammer. however most vehicles do not have room for that as the hood is in the way. and as for the pry bar thats just asking for trouble if the arms are seized as the pressure it takes to pry needs to be applied equally in the opposite direction on a physics stand point. and that amount of pressure if applied to a seized or stubborn arm will certainly break the windshield or plastic cowling. some wiper arms are even removed by hand with no tools, but we are not speaking about those ones or what you have.

    1st lesson penetration oil before anything....i.ve been doing this for 3 days twice daily...found a puller on e.bay only useful 1 side guess what side its of no use...yep the side thats siezed...next step i booked car into garage £120 and a day later they.d changed the whole linkage and motor and had the headache of a horrible job..👍

    No offense but tip number 2 taught us nothing about removing the arm from a tight spot. That is without removing the hood. Please show us how to remove the arm from a tight spot.
