Cannot believe how easy and clear you made this for me! This was without a doubt the best “how to” video i have seen in some time! I am THRILLED to have my new wiper inserts installed, and the clean windshield is AMAZING! Thanks for not yakking endlessly about stuff we don’t want, or need, to know. So many people seem to need to hear their own voices, ugh. But not you! Nope, you gave us the facts we needed, the closeups and details that were helpful, and moved along smartly. Gosh, thanks so much, i so appreciate this vid! I have never left a comment about a vid till now. This is an emotional moment for me, new wiper inserts and all, bwahaahahahhahahaaa!

@Muhammad Arshad I use silicone advantage Rain-X wipers on my old Toyota Matrix 2006. Best wipers I’ve ever used. & I’ve been around lots of wiper blades, conventional rubber ones, horrible graphite noise, O.E.M. Ones pretty good but not as good as silicone advantage wiper blades. I don’t care what anybody says, silicone advantage wiper blades work the best

Great video, very helpful as I had no idea I could just replace these with inserts. Each blade was about $7 from the official Toyota parts online-store with pick up at my local dealership. The rear window inserts are designed differently and don't have the lock feature built into the rubber, and are held in by lips at either end of the assembly. Best way I found was to start inserting at the middle clip (of 3), fully insert to one end, then slightly bend the insert to be able to get it into the opposite end's clip. If the clip slips out of the correct channel, you can gently wiggle and pull it back out.

the original OEM wiper blades that have come on most new toyota's (J jook style) since the mid 00's are called "DENSO DESIGNER" and are available on rockauto and amazon. the wiper blades they sell at the dealer "sightline" look simular but are different and cheaper quality and DO NOT have a replaceable insert. the rubber insert refills for the OEM denso blades are available at your local toyota dealer parts counter or any toyota parts dealer website.
personally these are the best wiper blades i have ever used, being able to swap the inserts is a nice cost savings

Thank you for the video! It came in handy as my 2014 prius' wipers were just starting to streak this winter. They were the original wipers with 7.5 years and 60k miles of use. Like you, I don't neglect changing these out, but I surely would not recommend changing these out every 6-12 months as that is just not usually needed. Mine were streak free until the last month. By the way, on my other prius I am using Bosch Icons as the prior owner threw the oem wipers in the trash and put on cheap aftermarket wiper arms and blades. The Icons I replaced them with are now 4 years old and rival the new wiper inserts just installed on my other prius. However, I am going to replace them eventually with the oem inserts and wiper arm assembly as Bosch has gone up in price to over $50 for both blades, the same price as what I can buy the whole oem assembly for. After that, the inserts are about $25 per pair, just half the cost of new aftermarket wipers.

I bought my ES330 as a certified used car in August of 2007, with 20250 miles. Some time later needing new wipers I did as I always had and threw away the old ones not knowing that I could just replace the inserts. Seeing this video I bought new Lexus wiper blades along with 2 sets of spare inserts, amazingly smooth and quiet compared to what I have been using for the last 16 years and 150,00 miles. Until now I had never subscribed to any TH-cam channel, Thanks AMD!

Question. My windshield is delaminating and I want to get a new windshield (live in a 0 deductible state). I want to demand an OEM glass WITH the Lexus logo from the insurance company, but I fear they'll argue with me cause it's a 2007 ES. But they don't charge me as if its a 2007 is going to be my response. Will an OEM glass with no Lexus logo be sufficient? Also i was going to demand the dealership do it but I hear most dealerships outsource, if I go to an 3rd party shop is there anything I need to make sure of they do? My car has the ultra luxury package.

I wish I had seen this years ago. I usually get the wiper blades off okay but spend a long time trying to figure out how it goes back together. Let's see... I push this hook up through here and. - no, I got something backward. I'll flip it over, and push the hook up through... aargg! I'll take your advice and get the original blades and do the inserts every Spring (after the ice) and Fall (before the snow and ice). I have also found rubber stands up to accidentally running the wipers over an iced windshield than silicone does.
BTW, this afternoon I am replacing the cells in my son's 2002 Prius hybrid battery. The originals made it 19 years and 210K miles. In the old days I would have hefted the battery out by myself, but I'm 68 years old (and enough wiser) so I have a young buck helping me with it. I hope to do better than I have done with wiper blades!

Does that work for Toyota trucks as well, can i buy Rain X blades (rubber part) and install them on the toyta assembly?

The only car that doesn’t have an option for inserts are 2007-current tundra and 2005-2012 Avalon.

This is awesome. I like the oem wiper blades the best.

Maybe this is an obvious question but I just wanted to ask if it's the same thing if you have a Lexus RX 450h

It should be the same if you have the original wiper blades.

I'm looking to change my wiper refills or inserts but there are so many different kinds on ebay and Amazon to choose like hybrid wipers, frame wipers, frameless wipers, and beam wipers. I don't know which one to buy. I have the exact same wipers as yours in the video ??

    • @TheCarCareNut
      @TheCarCareNut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I would keep the wipers that are original from your car and just buy the inserts

@@TheCarCareNut thats what I'm going to do after watching ur video but there are 4 types of inserts to choose and I don't know which insert to chose from? Which insert did you choose or do u have any link for it to buy online. I called Toyota today to buy inserts from them and they said we don't sell inserts anymore, we sell the whole wiper and its £43 including VAT 😒😔

I see. There’s only one insert type from Toyota. Perhaps call around other dealerships?

Oh, and you are right about only using original Toyota parts on Toyota cars, the wiper blades are one of them. I changed them in the fall right before the winter season and in the spring after a hard winter.

That's great, thank you! But how can we remove the rear wiper? The lock is not obvious and I'm having troubles removing the wiper itself.

What’s the part number for left and right 2017 Toyota Tundra wiper blade inserts? I called the dealer and they are telling me you can’t get the blade inserts for a 2017 tundra.
