    I had a 65 mustang in high school in 2012. It had 347 stroker with a T5 5 speed. This brought back memories of me working on mine. I now have a 69. Love the car.

    The first 15 seconds of this video remind of when I was growing up in the Sunland area back in the '90s. Totally recognize it. There was a lot less out there then and the end of Big Tujunga Cyn / Oro Vista was a good place to open it up or "test" our vehicles against other ones. As fun as carving corners up Big Tujunga Cyn is, be careful, almost got killed up there in my Comet many years ago, guard rail saved me and my car. It's not always just your car or your self you gotta worry about, it's other drivers to.

    (edit) It's looking great buddy. I like the overall exterior appearance of it (kinda rough and ready and built to drive and have fun with). I don't know what your long range plan is, but I hope you don't paint it and make it "too pretty". I'm all for upgrading the safety equipment - that's smart and practical. Your car has a very cool character to it as is. Great video - thanks.

    New cars had 2 throttle springs.
    Race cars usually have a strap over your foot so if the throttle sticks you can pull the pedal back.

    Really dig the patina on the car. I have a '66 Mustang in Nightmist Blue which is a very similar as yours. It spends most of it's life in the garage, but I hope to change that soon. Keep up these videos coming!

  • @olikat8
    @olikat8 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    7" wide you can get some good rubber; may have to go to 16-17" wheels and drop the sidewall. It'll still look "Period" correct for most eyes and not look goofy. I did an old A-body Mopar and used a set of '16" Lincoln LSC "Turbine" wheels with good Yokohamas and utilized the 12" front rotors (with pin-style calipers) from the last of the B-body A-38 cop car. Common sense goes a long way, looks like you're doing it right!

    Also! That proportioning valve gave me issues on my 67 Camaro but when it did work
    It helped with keeping the rear from locking up

    • @hotrodray6802
      @hotrodray6802 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get a brass combination valve from a mid 70s Granada/ Maverick ahead of the prop valve. It works!! It not only limits rear pressure it delays the application as Ford intended.
      Probably won't need the adjustable valve.

    man i love your vids, we are about the same age and it's nice to know i'm not the only young person willing to get their hands dirty and build an old school car the way they want to. Funny you mentioned the MT valve covers as i also just bought a pair for my vettes 350 lol

  • @ExtinctSS
    @ExtinctSS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting you mention the valve covers with larger rocker arms. I actually made 4000 dollars off a 69 Camaro SS because the owner said it had a knock in the motor when it warmed up. Took it home sure enough someone swapped the valve covers to 3 7/8" and the rocker arms when the engine was at operating temperature would tap on the valve covers. 40$ trip to O Reilly's fixed it and I sold it soon after.

    Tbh I don't think the width of the tyres is so much the issue, it's probably more the tyre type. Those Firestones you have are extremely cool, but they're an old school tread, and you also have a huge amount of sidewall which will flex when you go round corners. I've found that by going up to a 16x7 inch wheel, your choice of 205/55R16 tyres is vast, you can even get Michelin Pilot Sports in that size, and those will transform any car you put them on. Also has the benefit of being able to take bigger brakes, should those ever be needed.

    Hello from Europe,
    First of all I really like your videos and I really like that you use classic car for daily driver and not just for looking in garage.
    Now I have few questions bcs I like to have Mustang for daily driver:
    -How much cost you brake and suspension upgrade?
    -Will you upgrade AC?
    -
    Where the air blows inside? (only on middle area or on legs too?, I wonder bcs here we have winters and I don't want freeze to death :-) )
    P.S. Sorry for my bad english it's not my first language...
    Thank you for answers and have a nice day.
