This rod is really cool looking! Such a unique finish on a really proven sub $500 rod. This rod at $350 not only performs great, but with this new camo looks awesome too.

This rod is awesome in the 8wt for pike! I pair it with the RIO Predator line (of course)! Might have to get a 10wt tarpon, too
Good tips!
Beautiful!!!
It's a cool rod. Glad to see a company dress it up a bit. Fly rods are awesome.
I have the Predator in an 8wt. for Smallmouth and "Steelhead" here in MN (and bonefish in MX/Belize), I got the 10 wt. to double as a Musky rod and a Tarpon rod for saltwater trips. Great tips as I was struggling to cast big 10-12"+ musky flies, but when you got a good load in the rod you could really feel it. Not keeping my elbow in was likely where I went wrong.
This is great feedback Ben, thanks for sharing. The Predator has a lot of power, and has been reliable but does require some "big rod" casting form. Really appreciate the post it helps the channel and other viewers.
Sounds like a stair handle bar
I might be missing the terminology but it’s a strong handle bar for sure! I cast it once for a day and found it to be powerful as all heck at 8wt.
I have one of these in a 9wt paired to a Hardy ZANE Carbon reel with an outbound short F/H/I fly line. It's a BEAST but I hope it can handle a 20lb roosterfish on my trip to Mexico next month. I didn't have the extra cash after booking everything to get another $1200 setup
20 pounder, good fight, but no problem. You'll keep it low and win that fight! Good luck and have fun.
@@redsflyshop thanks! I was nervous feeling like I'd be under equipped for that fight. Any suggestions for flies to catch other species in the Cabo area like Bonita?
Thoughts on this as a first rod for someone using it inshore? Redfish, Snook, Trout, etc?
Great rod for that, in these fisheries you'll always have room for "an extra stick" in the boat even if you decide to go full Sage, T and T, or Winston at some point. It's a solid rod. I would go 9 weight on the heavy end for that, maybe an 8. It's a strong rod.
No thanks. I'll stck with Flip Pallots TFO Mangrove Coast wand🪄

It’s a great all-around rod. It has the oomph to power a line through the wind, to turnover saltwater flies, and put the wood to tough fish. Great value - a rod a novice person can grow into and an experience person can appreciate. And, an unconditional lifetime warranty?!? Great value.
