You guys get overrated/underrated questions that are far too easy. Try these: 1. Top end racing tires 2. Recovery rides 3. Carbon finishing kit 4. Heart Rate Sensors 5. Indoor training software (e.g. Zwift) 6. Riding without a cyclo-computer. 7. Lightweight climbing bikes 8. Top end bib-shorts 9. Double sided power meter (vs. single sided) 10. Cycling socks
On the commuting for training, slow in fast home is how I always do it, I don't build intervals or anything in but treating it as miles under the belt is a good way IMO.
Top three tapes: electrical, gaffers, and painters Electrical for projects and safety Gaffers is basically duct tape that doesn’t leave behind residue Painters when you need tape that won’t peel off surfaces adhered to
@@cb6866 To answer your question though, I saw a short video of Francis in LA with his wife a few days ago. They were some distance away from the fire but saying that they would need to move if it got closer. So I would think they’re ok.
In mtb we've been using Duct tape (gorilla is best) for tubeless ready rims for years now, it works a treat but we use lower pressure than roadies. Electrical tape was frequently used to tape rims when using tubes, again we were using lower pressure so I am not sure how it translates to road bike it has been and still is done.
in the late 80's i used either curad or j&j white surgical/wound tape to tape my rims. along with dental floss to resew tubulars after puncture fixes. tape and floss, cheap. tubulars not so much.
One piece cockpits are only over rated if one cannot get the right one for their position: IF one is building a custom bike, AND that person can get exactly the right integrated bar/stem to fit them and their build, THEN they are awesome!
im with emily. no need to turn the commute into a workout to get benefits from movement. studies around non exercise activity thermogenesis show benefits from low intensity movement, and-for those looking to loose weight-lower intensity movement tends to burn more fat
You’re exaggerating a bit imho, I’m 6’4-5” (195cm) and really long legs, riding 170mm cranks and a size 58 with stem 120-130mm. So I can’t imagine that a size XXL or 61 wouldn’t fit you in any world
Is 34 or even 36 sized cassettes under or over-rated. I was surprised when a friend of mine received a new Giant bike and it came with a 36 cassette as standard
I moved from 11-28 to 11-34 on a 34/50. I don’t race or ride in group. It’s great. 10 mile commute is now faster by 3 to 5 minutes as I am faster on the slopes.
Hum? If you go 30 (zone 2-3) instead of 20 km/h (no sweat), you will make 20 km in 40 min instead of an hour, given there are no obstacles like traffic lights.
Thank Gary Klein for being the first person that I am aware of to use an integrated cockpit with his “mission control” one piece bar and stem combo way back in the ‘90’s.
Masking tape is the best tape; you can label stuff with it, it's stronger than you expect, it's easy to remove, and most importantly, it doesn't leave residue.
Hear me out. What if we combined a disc wheel and disc brake? It could be both a wheel and a brake. See, we’d fit some sort of caliper around the tire to grab the wheel instead of a separate brake disc…

Tbh, this ain't any harder. Also, they've made their opinions for more than half of these on previous episodes.
love most of these

Just buy what you like… who gives a shit whether it’s overrated or underrated…. Like it, buy it and do whatever makes you happy
Thanks Emily, Francis, and Jimmi . Is Francis ok out in LA ??
Don’t waste your time asking them a question. These people don’t even read the comments, let alone reply.
@ cool. Thanks

@ yeah. Thank
You. Again

WVA drove the Olympic TT on double disc wheels

i recommend Tesafilm(Scotchtape?) as rimtape instead as electrical tape. it is much less elastic.
Jimmy how do those t’s fit. I want to order the same one but not sure about the sizing.
As a tall person (6’6”) I find that the cycling industry doesn’t consider tall people more than it doesn’t consider short people😬😕
100% I had very few options that would fit me. Most bikes looked like I stole my little brother’s bike

you can always get longer seat posts and cranks and stems, but they can’t make the smallest bike any smaller
How often after proper fit...do you change bar or stem
I'm on the same fsa since 2009
I've fixed a hole in my rim tape with electrical tape. The fix has lasted 6 months. It's crazy how good it is.
I sooo share Francis' view on double sided tape. This is a quiet hero of tape world. My fav actually. :)
okay so where did you get that Morton t-shirt from!? And does he know it exist?

4 years ago I was riding 32mm tyres, I was laughed at............
The strip of lights that Emily is talking about is belgrave road, and is still the same now
Shirt link? 👀
Top 3 tapes. Cashagoogoo, electrical, carbon patch tape
he's got a Lachlan Morton t-shirt on!
It's unrealistic to be 20 minutes faster (between 'normal' and 'fast') on a 1 hour route. That's generally a margin of only a couple of minutes.

@Jimmi I need that Lachlan Morton shirt. Need.
Reupload?
Masking tape!!! Agree on the free training while commuting too.
My take on commuting by bike,if you don’t have shower facilities it’s rubbish.

This show is becoming a DE'JAVU
6:30 Why is this guy always yapping nonsense? Brixton to London bridge is like 4 miles
Disc brakes on road bikes… the most overrated and overpriced trend?
