- The small crossover continues to be the largest and fastest growing automotive segment out there, and the Honda CR-V has been a part of it since the beginning. 2023 sees the start of a 6th generation of this perennial best-seller and benchmark. It certainly is bigger. Let’s see if it’s better too!

This is not an understatement, but this is the best looking CRV ever... This is my favorite CRV.
This has a better design than previous CR-V models
I disagree. I like the 2020-2022 version better. I have a 2020 1.5 L EX-L and a 2022 EX-L Hybrid. Great performance and handling.
I prefer the previous design wise.
But that is very very impressive indeed ---> 3:39
...yeah it's obvious this is a better vehicle and for me the design would get better with ownership, well done Honda!
It looks like every other SUV now.
Leaps and bounds beyond better looking than any previous CR-V!
Mom has a 2010 CRV with 150,000 miles. Basic maintenance, tires, brakes, oil and other fluid changes are literally the only things that have been done. She did have a minor issue with the radio which was easily replaced. But it is a 2010. No turbo, direct injection or CVT. Just Hondas tried and true 2.4. Wish they still made that engine.
lol your mom
I got a 1998 honda cr-v 200,077 miles so far very reliable cars honda is the best.
CVTs are so annoying.
Most cars easily reach 150k now, even the American cars imo
My 2010 has (I was a wedding DJ for many years and put on a ton of miles) 258,000 miles. Yes, the radio still flakes out. The AC broke at 112,000. But...without a doubt, the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned!
I'm starting to see these EVERYWHERE in Northern VA, they look great in person especially in the blue color they offer. 7.4 seconds seems to be decent for performance.
That blue color looks good
Because it's a very good vehicle and the best-seller in its class.
7.4???
That's slow AF. 😂😂
CVT sadly holds this back.
Getting 36.5 mpg on sport touring 65/35 city/ highway Very athletic and smooth. No complaints so far 👍
Am I getting old or are these prices out of control? About 4 years ago I bought my Pilot for about 35K and now I see the CRV creeping into that territory. It's like the HRV is the new CRV. Eventually they'll have to bring the Fit back as an SUV.
also we get no motor option
Lol.. u think the prices on the show are bad.. wait till you see prices on the lot with the dealer 50% markup
You are not getting old. The prices are out of control. This CRV is so expensive, it runs headlong into the path of the world's best-selling car - the all-American Tesla Model Y - whose base model can be CHEAPER than the two top CRV trims if you get your tax benefits lined up.
Indeed, Honda car prices are getting unbelievably expensive, but our salaries remain the same.
More bad news; we are all getting older @@MartinGalway
I never considered a CR V until this model. This has a great looking front and back….
Same and I bought it and love it!
same here
This is the best looking new CRV since the 2002 model, in my opinion.
Good video, and maybe I missed it, but instead of just saying how much longer it is compared to the outgoing model, tell us the actual dimensions. Thanks.
Why not just a nice, honest, six speed auto instead of the cvt? I assume the latter is cheaper to make and buyers don't care.
There's no CVT in the CRV hybrid. It has a 1 Speed transmission that is similar to EVs hence the low mpg at speeds over 60 mph. You're better off with a Rav4 or Tucson/Sportage for good highway mpg.
I just love the Style and Handling of the Honda CR-V and it great gas mileage. I drive an older model Honda CR-V and it handles well and it's low maintenance plus I save gas. I get lots of compliments about my vehicle and when I start it up people are amazed how quiet the engine sounds. Buying a Honda CR-V was the best investment for mid-size SUV. 🚘❤️❤️❤️🚘⛽
I had 7 consecutive leased high end Accords, but the new Accord is 1" too long for my garage, so I made the switch to the Sport Touring CRV. Of course, I knew it would be slower 0-60 than my 2020 Accord Touring edition with the terrific 2L/10 AT powertrain. But the off the line torque in my CRV is excellent, and seems comparable in the first few hundred yards. I recently did my first full tilt pass on a 2 lane road the other night, and the CRV was more than up to the task. I'm sure it's a bit slower than the 2023 Touring Accord, which is also slower than the previous powertrain, but the performance on the CRV is a pleasant surprise...and I'm very close to the EPA numbers (even better than 40 on an urban cycle), while pure interstate is a little lower than EPA. All in all, it's the most refined Honda I've ever driven, and the seat height is perfect for my arthritic knees, unlike my beloved Accords of the past. I miss the HUD and the ventilated seats of my last Accord, but I'm digging the Bose sound system (also in the Accord Touring), superior AC interior thermostat sensitivity to solar heat, and incredible lack of significant body roll in this taller vehicle. Interior is delightful with great seats. Extra sound deadening exclusive to the Sport Touring edition is a major plus. ZERO buyers remorse...love it!
are your seats soft or hard ? i have 2 sport touring's one has really firm seats the other has soft I'm not sure why.
@@dvdtv1234 My seats are firm, but not hard. I find them to be very comfortable.

I like it, and vastly superior to a RAV4 or a Rogue, though I would still take an Accord personally.
The RAV4 will last a lot longer though. It has dual injection, no CVT, and no turbo.

Honda engineering is great, yet I cannot ignore the Rav4 for the Mechanical-Quality reasons. Kinda tired of seeing the ocean of Rav4 out there. I would need to go RDX to purchase Honda products with those specs and eat the $ticker.
Can you get an accord in all-wheel drive?
I own Accord Hybrid 2021 Ex-L. I've made 43 000 miles and no issues. My average mpg (2 years) is 53. Winter is around 45-46, summer is around 58-59. Recently I got a trip 4000 miles and mpg was around 45 on highway. Also I have Toyota Hybrid too. I love Honda Hybrid System more. Next car will be Honda CR-V but I'm waiting for PHEV version. Maybe next year, will see.
My 2005 ex has 281,000 miles! Best car I ever owned and it's my daily driver. 64 miles round trip commute! 👍😎😁

Not a Honda fan but I do like this CR-V ...
No spare on the hybrid. Really Honda? $40K

You can buy a spare and put it in the trunk. It just doesn't come with one.
Motorweek is still getting it done! Nice review on a great car. I prefer last gen's styling over this. Looks too much like a small Pilot.
Prices are way to high for me
my least favorite part of the hybrid version is the battery location.
What would you prefer?
Interesting that one has Continental tires, my 2023 sport touring came with Michelins...
Nice, but good luck finding any of these hybrids on dealer lots. Honda has to be the most inventory-challenged car company nowadays.
This is the best looking CR-V to date, but it’s ridiculous that for the price they charge for the top trim, there’s no ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, multicolor ambient lighting, & a bigger engine to have more performance. This needs the 2.0T from the previous gen Accord with a normal 10-speed automatic. I shouldn’t have to go all the way up to a Passport Elite or RDX A-Spec, Advance, or A-Spec + Advance package to get some of those features for thousands more 🤦🏽♂️🙄. And the limited color combination options are ridiculous. There’s no unique color interior for the top trim to get besides the basic black or gray/ white leather seats. There’s not enough creativity in the execution of this CR-V. It just looks like a bigger Tiguan with slightly different styling atp
The Tesla Model Y is LESS EXPENSIVE than the top CRV trim. $40,240 after the Federal tax credit... or even less if you can get state tax rebates too. It has a lot of the luxury features you mentioned in addition to better acceleration and lower running costs.
@@MartinGalway I personally don't like Tesla. Tesla Y real price is around $30 000 . Honda gets $1100 - 1200 for each car. Tesla - $12 000 - 17 000. My friend has Tesla Plaid. It was huge disappointment for him plus smell of burned wires inside. He bought Audi E-tron after and happy now.
I like the interior and the exterior will have to grow on me. Not as distinctive vs the last gen. I like this honda styling application more on the Pilot. Otherwise, it will still sell well.
No fog lights & spare tire? If you really use it like a SUV, you WILL eventually have a flat tire in a remote area.
the body is solid
don’t know why Honda puts such a tiny battery for the hybrid 1kwh
common Honda
But can they bring back the picnic table???😂
The first generation only I believe had the picnic table. 😄
@@DeflectionMode Yeah, I know. I own a 2000 CRV. I'd still be cool if they brought it back and modernized it. 💪🏼
Would buy if there's a 2.0 liter turbo option
I'm also concerned about a 1.5 L Turbo versus a hybrid.
But Honda really leads into the reliability of this vehicle so they're likely fine.
Love the redo - just wish there was a PHEV model that made extra power. Fuel efficiency is great, but if you can't get up on the freeway - no thanks.
they have a PHEV in Europe, but not sure if/when it comes to the US. All I can find for CR-V is a Hydrogen cell hybrid being made in Ohio(?). Hope we get the bigger battery PHEV in a couple of years.
PHEV's are the most unreliable cars. Did you read the latest consumer report? Google it.
what color is the one in this video?
CRV'S & RAV4'S are both great.
Yeah both of them accept the RAV4
yes it's bigger .They took uncessary pocket space than the previous model which I thought was really really good 2017-22 model That disappointed many loyal crv owner but 2023 is nice gas and hybrid ... you can't go much wrong.
No fog lights? What are they thinking? I live on a mountain and half the year we have fog. It may work well in snow, but without fog lights not sure I want this.
Nice but rav 4 out sold crv last year and previously thx
The design is growing on us!
Looks and feels great.. If it wasn't for the small engine- turbo.... I might have bought that same day and finally switched from Toyota.. C r v better comma but doesn't come with spare tire and a few other Quirks.. Other than not wanting to go hybrid yet.
No mention of battery life and the replacement cost ??? Could be very expensive !!
Does anyone know if AWD worth getting and does it have any issues.. I love Honda and want it to run as long as possible and wonder if AWD is more problem than positive issues down the road..
They're reliable but if you live in the South/warm weather you definitely don't need it unless you plan on doing some light off-roading.

Then you haven’t seen mine. It’s been okay lately but the first few years were less than enjoyable.
Yeah 2015 - 2019 was a problem for most Honda's with the 1.5T/CVT combo. They've gotten way better in quality in terms of engine troubles, if that was one of your issues.
What kinds of issues has it had?
@@palebeachbum oil dilution and turbo charger failure to name a couple. My aunt had a 2017 Civic EX-T with the 1.5T/CVT that had these exact issues. Not to mention her A/C blew out in the summer 3 years into ownership. She got screwed on the resale when she traded it in for a Camry because of said issues.
When you compare the Honda CRV to the Mazda CX5, the Honda looks absolutely Spartan in the interior, the CX5 is luxurious by comparison and offers a turbo , the CX5 also handles like a sports car and is very price competitive , check out the Mazda
CRV is way roomier and there's no CX5 hybrid.
Come on man, seriously you trying to compare a Mazda to a Honda? Get real.
its the size of a first/second gen Explorer now.
I have a 2017 CRV Touring and like it very much. The only problem I've had is the display unit had to be replaced. My big gripe is the TPMS system and the lame excuse Honda used for that system. It will not indicate which tire is low, let alone the pressure. In addition, the driver has to calibrate (system screen) the pressure once you fill the tires. Our 2011 Chevy Equinox has the capability to give individual tire pressures. With all the high tech in this car they shorted that system big time. You might not think it's a big deal until it comes on while on a trip while it's raining. Now, you can't get a touring model without buying the Hybrid. In addition, Honda has done away with the spare tire and replaced it with a pump and a can of fix a flat. I've owned several Hondas, but this will be my last.😑
I totally agree! 17 CRV Touring here and it's aggravating with no TPMS
I prefer how Honda doesn’t use individual TPMS sensors. Every car I’ve owned with individual TPMS sensors they start dying after about 5-6 years. Which triggers the annoying low tire light and it’s costly and time consuming to get the sensors replaced. Just saying from my experience
Thnx for that info.thats ridiculous no spare tire? A pump? 😂
Great job with coping the Rav 4, well done Honda.
Not sure if anyone from Honda is watching, but could we have another Fit?
I'm with you on that, but Honda stopped selling them due to slow sales compared to the HRV that was based on it. Higher price with HRV plus better sales = more profit.
so a few inches is BIGGER ??? not when it's a car - suv or truck !
Width between wheel wells is 41 inches. Compare that to 50 inches in the Honda Pilot. I can easily fit 2 XL dog boxes side by side in a Pilot.
That's why they make the pilot. For people like you. I personally hate dogs, so I like the CR-V.
Nice car
has lots of road noise on the hwy 2023 crv 1,5 2 wheel drive
Very good-looking.
Very good. I like it, but my rdx is easier to park because shorter. Nose too long for easy parking, but looks awesome. Should have more power though. And wish my rdx was hybrid because very fun but fuel economy is awful.
I had a 2018 Rdx looks brand new with only 15k miles. In 2/23 it acted strange alarm went off, parking lights turn on, dashboard flicker when the car is turn off... Acura dealer diagnosed and found faulty "smart power control unit". The parts is backordered since Feb but in the midle of June still is not known when is it available. To temporary fix, I have to remove battery cable after turn off the car. So I have to trade in and get a 2023 CRV Hybrid sport. Driving, parking, power are almost the same in normal driving. It's better because fuel consumption is less than a half and not required premium with Rdx.
SUPER COOL
A 2.4 port injection hybrid with a 8 - 10 speed automatic , would be a much better CR-V .... up yours EPA
I'm with you on the 2.4. Not so much on having so many shift points on a transmission. Honda's CVTs are good from what I hear. 2.4 and a reliable Honda CVT are the perfect combo, especially for the city driving I do.
@@palebeachbum the new crv doesn't have a cvt there is no transmission an e-cvt that the reviewers are talking about is more of like a saying for a type of programming that goes on in software. TLDR e cvt is not a physical thing. its programming and that's just a dumb name some people came up with.

i swear it is a santa fe 2020 model.
I wonder what John means when he says "perennial best-seller." The CRV is outsold by the world's fastest selling car, which is also a small crossover with 76cu.ft. storage. It's also CHEAPER THAN the top-trim CRV at $40,240 (after U.S. federal tax credit). I'm talking about the Tesla Model Y. Cheaper to buy, much cheaper to own (no oil changes or other Hybrid-ICE maintenance costs), all-American, much faster acceleration, and does not contribute to climate change - unlike this hybrid combustion engine car (and don't forget the other trims are NOT hybrid, they're pure gasoline) - which DOES CONTRIBUTE TO CLIMATE CHANGE. If you want to SPEND MORE MONEY - go ahead and buy the top-trim CRV. If you want to SAVE MONEY... buy the Model Y.
Good info. What kind of maintenance does your Tesla require? So it's extremely reliable? Thanks for input.
@@namvet1968 I've got a Model S that is nearly 10yrs old and has 269,000 miles on it currently. There is no scheduled maintenance. You can pay someone else to change tires, wiper blades/fluid & cabin air filter, or you can do it yourself. There are "repairs" when something breaks or wears out. With a high-mileage car like mine I have to be aware of the health of the steering & suspension. The brakes do not really wear out. (I am half-way through the second set, changed at 188,000 miles)

the hybrid isnt turbo , its naturally aspirated and the motor 90 percent of the time acts only as a generator motor producing electricity for the electric motors using the battery as a buffer.

Have a good day.
With new vehicles becoming increasingly more expensive and therefore out of reach for more people, as well as efficiency concerns, why do manufacturers make vehicles increasingly larger? This seems counterintuitive.
They are unable to innovate, they're stuck producing cars that replace their previous cars and need servicing/maintenance. The only way to make a combustion engine car seem better is to make it bigger. Electric vehicles that have no emissions at all are taking over. This new CRV won't sell as well as the previous CRV. And the same thing will happen to the next CRV. Until Honda makes it battery-electric.
Americans love big vehicles.

When Honda went CVT and Turbo on the CR-V in 2017 they lost us. We keep our cars longer than 10 years so longevity is the priority and while the fourth gen RAV 4 doesn't have as nice interior and feel as a 2017 CR-V it has a tried and true 6 speed automatic and EFI. You see while the CR-V appeals to the masses on looks, interior and drive these are the same types that have a never ending car payment and nothing saved for retirement or an emergency. I'd take a 2013 - 2017 RAV 4 over a CR-V CVT Turbo any day and put up with the less nice amenities. I guess we'll see how these CR-V's hold up past 200k for those who try to take them there.
