    In today’s Episode of Figuring out With Raj Shamani, we have founders of Zepto, Aadit Palicha (Founder & CEO - Zepto) and Kaivalya Vohra (Founder & CTO at Zepto).
    Both Palicha and Vohra had enrolled in Stanford to pursue a Computer Science degree but dropped out to pursue their entrepreneurial interests instead. The idea to start Zepto came from the confines of their homes amid the pandemic.
    A rise in demand for home-deliveries meant that groceries and other essentials would reach the buyer in a matter of a couple of days, leaving a vacuum for instant delivery. So, Zepto was founded with that consideration in mind.
    Zepto is Mumbai based startup which offers a 10-minute groceries delivery service. Zepto has secured $100 million in a fundraising round headed by Y Combinator, bringing its valuation to $570 million just 5 months after launching services in India's quick commerce sector.
    In this podcast we have discussed the success story of zepto, how zepto started, its business model, future plans, next big opportunity and much more.
    Watch the complete episode to get amazing insights of the startup world.

    So much could have been learned from this podcast, not sure if they were short on time, but this was an absolute lack of depth into the real business. For example, how do they plan to compete with Grofers? and other big players? What is their story? How did they meet each other and end up living in Mumbai at 19, while also dropping out of Stanford? I could go on. This conversation was only a tip of an iceberg. Please get these guys back for a longer chat.

    One of their delivery agent was killed recently in an accident. I don't understand what's the purpose of this 10 min delivery , it just endangers the lives of the delivery boys. Seriously , you need to get a life if you can't move your ass and go to 5-10 min away shop to get your groceries.

  • @Steve48989
    @Steve48989 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    I'm tryna understand how this will be different to the other 2000 different instant grocery startups around the world. There's Zapp, Getir, Jokr, GoPuff, Fridge No More, Buyk, Now Now, Gorrilas, Grofers, Blinkit and I'm sure I've missed another 30.
    None of them are profitable. The idea of starting up 100s of micro fulfilment centers close to consumers, stocking each of them, hiring packers for each store and hiring delivery riders for each store seems unsustainable. Why is Zepto going to create a profit when players in this industry for the past 10 years aren't able to do so?

    So much learning & great depth in the talk. Two biggest takeaway from this episode
    1.) How zepto ideas came and became an e-commerce start-up so if a person who's looking for a business idea, what problem he can solve in the marketplace so look around what problem you are facing, once you find it, find a way & solution to solve it
    2.) For scaling:- just be absolutely clear about what are doing and how big an opportunity is that the problem you're solving. Once you clear on that keep improving your system and business to provide a greater experience to customers again & again
    Thanks, Raj shamani bhayia for bringing great content, your every podcast always be with full knowledge and in-depth, I watch the podcast of other creators as well but your podcast always stand out👏❣

    Even these founders don't have answers to the question posted here in the comment section. It's all gimmick! Anyone can excel in discount-based (burning VC money) customer acquisition, not a big deal. And after IPO, VCs exit with a 500x wealth and at the end it's this IPO buyer, gullible small investors who become the ultimate victim of these losses making business models.
