The indigo disk is definitely GameFreaks response to the whole "modern games are too easy" thing
Will say that it defo felt better then BDSP's response. Least this is post main story with all the additional comp resources that the player has opposed to the sudden jump in the league BDSP had.
And they nailed it perfectly! It was a cool dlc for me and made me think a lot of times how to get around everything without overleveling.

Pretty much using doubles for the entire dlc was really fun. Plus the secret dialogue and fun characters
The trainers are tough as nails and the Elite 4 is BRUTAL but I love it, because they handled it a lot better than in BDSP by having a larger selection of Pokemon that can deal with these 4 loveable battle maniacs and all the other trainers (Didn't reach to Kieran; I'm excited to see how much he improved)
Hydrapple deserves all the love in the world and you can’t change my mind.

Right, like whether or not Drayton has his own reasons for pushing us, the player, to go through the BBL and eventually fight Kieran, I feel like our player character would have wanted a means to challenge Kieran anyway to bring their friend back to normal. @@thornelson1411

I get the feeling a lot of us went overboard in preparation for Drayton's trial, myself included.
Vgc whisicott and farigiraf, both level 100, plus kleavor, metegaross, archaludon, and of course my boy froakie who I planned to use as a revive sack. Turns out I only needed whimsicott and farigiraf
I stayed up all night planning to use Maria Don ogre palm or Challedon Dan Douzo Katagiri and Fire crock
Not really I just use random Pokémon went headstrong in with Lapras,cottonee,oricorio and that is it. I beat them handily

Interesting fact: you can actually catch meloetta in the terrarium just go to the coastal area of it then head over to an area where there is a tree alongside two flower patches if you see leafs whirling around like its a mini tornado when you get there, that is the place now spin around for a bit (at least a minimum of 10 seconds) and then start looking for meloetta using the camera with the sepia filter on.
Don't believe? Some npcs tell you hints to find and catch meloetta but you have to beat the dlc first to find and catch meloetta.

Ngl when I was confused that Rotom fainted from the Earthquake I said "Oh, it has Mold Breaker" the EXACT same time that Michael Did and that made my day.
I noted it like a second before he did, but I swear we pulled the same initial face.
Wait that's what mold breaker does? It ignores other abilities like levitate?

Fun fact. You can encounter a trainer that says he knows Lacey’s secret. Beat him and he tell you she likes to use her pokemons tummy as a pillow.

Lacey: Primarina
Drayton: Sceptile. NOT a dragon, but can mega into a dragon.
Likewise most grass types before gen 7 are reptilian.
Kieran: Incineroar because competitive utility

Crispin has exeggcutor for water types, Lacey has Slowbro for poison types (and exadrill for steel types), Amarys has Reiuniclus because trick room and steel types go together very well (also for fighting types IG), and Drayton has Sceptile because...... @@Conorator at least the Tandemaus has a shiny that doesn't hide itself. There is LITERALLY 0 difference between shiny and not shiny Minior when shields are up. When shields are down, then yes it has an amazing shiny, but shields up there is 0 difference. and all overworld one has shields up.

It definitely looks like a staple remover when standing up, and a bridge when down attacking. Weird combo, but totally nails both looks (especially shiny, I like it so much more)
Michael here's some tips I pulled up: to get the legendary birds, beasts, lugia and ho-oh, weather trio, swords of justice, reshiram zekrom and kyurem, the light trio, kubfu, and the horse duo, you gotta complete the DLC and do tasks for someone named Mr snacksworth who'll give you special snacks that will spawn the legendaries in their locations. For raging bolt and gouging fire complete perrins quest and they will be waiting for you in area zero. To get your koraidon to fly beat amarys and talk to her in classroom 3-2 after completing the DLC to completely unlock flying
Fun fact: Lacey's name is an anagram of Clay, just with an extra "e"
I'm not sure why her name couldn't have been just "Lacy."

I LOVE THE APPLIN LINE!! Never have I seen a split evolution I've loved this much. Also, SYRPENT! That is the best portmanteau Pokemon has EVER made. Barnone. Also, DUDE, Tracey's Venonat used radar in the anime.
I'd love for Wyorm and Syrupent to be separate Pokémon in a future game. Be good Bug/Dragon types.

I love that a lot of the main trainers have starters now. Even the teachers from the main game

The raid Pokemon not counting happened to me too. I’d caught this really cool Tera Grass Metagross and they were like “Oops, sorry buddy, that doesn’t count :D”
Same I find it so weird that so many people not only caught a Metagross but also tried to use it in the trial
@@SomeFuzzheadsI didn’t have this problem with Metagross because I shiny-hunted Beldum. I DID have this problem with my Eviolite Porygon2 though.
I experienced this when my 6-star Overqwil (my first ever Terarium raid den mon) was denied entry 🥺
The Hydrapple feels like it was made to say: "This is why applin and their evos are DRAGON!"
Michael you must know this! When Miraidon gains the full power of flight after you finish the story, you MUST fly to the top of the Tera globe in the Terrarium, there are very good items up there.
I did that today just to see if they would let me up there. was not disappointed with the items
Ngl flying is probably my favoritething about the dlc. It's just so much more fun and practical than gliding.
I love in the Savanna Biome how there is a replica of Pride Rock from the Lion King. Complete with a male Pyroar standing at the edge.
Since Pokémon is a Japanese franchise, it's more likely to be a Kimba the White Lion reference than a Lion King reference. But yeah, when I saw that, I immediately got Circle of Life stuck in my head 🦁

I don't know if someone's mentioned it but that whole "put together a party of only Pkmn you just caught" reminds me SO much of you and John's "catch a team and then battle" challenges :)
Here to give you advice: Litten is a starter that appears in the Canyon Biome so that’s what you need to upgrade to get it

I'd like you to know you can catch the Mythical Pokémon Meloetta in the Coastal Biome, it's complicated though.
First go to the place where the fairy Trial was, and look for a whirlwind blowing around, go to the centre and spin clockwise for about 20 seconds, then switch to the camera, go to the sepia filter and wait for the music change. Meloetta will appear and stay until you catch it.

Lacey’s uniform, pink hair, and love for cute Pokémon makes her perfect for one of Mikey’s old evil teams, Team Pixie Dust
Her using a Terra Fairy Excadrill makes me really want a regional form that's Ground/Fairy and could be based on the pink fairy armadillo. Maybe even the star-nosed mole as well, with a cute pink star on it's nose that it uses to channel it's Fairy magic.
Now I need to see a star nosed mole pokemon! ❤ that would be too cute!
I wonder if Drayton's Sceptile is implied to be a mega in games where that would be possible

It’s called Fickle Beam because all of the “heads” are individual Applin, so Hydrapple only gets the damage boost when they feel like coordinating with the lead “head”. They’re fickle.
Mikey, I know you want to use new pokemon, but please bring ogerpon into the battle with Kieran. It would be so very poetic

Seeing someone else A) overprepare for Drayton's trial and B) get super frustrated over the raid pokemon not counting (which is DUMB!) makes me feel better about my playthrough now.
It's a mechanical thing. Raid dens are separate self contained locations, and the game simply checks the location for where you caught the pokemon as listed in its summary to determine if you caught it in the Terrarium. As such, all raid pokemon list their location that you caught them as "A crystal cavern" which is not a part of the Terrarium (or any other map) as far as the game is concerned, thus they are not eligible.
I was trying to get an Aloha ninetails, but I was playing Violet And I traded for one. And I couldn't use it because it was trade. I was so frustrated at that. It was one of the only times I got mad at a video game.
Inevitably, anyone playing the main set of Gen 9 games before returning for DLC can't help themselves _but_ overprepare.
Having *_Level 100_* Pokemon is nice and all, but nothing stops you from making the challenge fair.

Personally, I found Dragon Cheer very useful in the DLC, taught it to my shiny Flygon so it'd set up my Gallade to land nothing but crits.
Lacey’s battle is pretty tough I must say. Alcremie’s Decorate move is incredibly threatening as it boosts the power of its ally, in which for me was the Excadrill. You can see how much danger I was in.
It's funnier to see Lacey's reaction if you tell her both sets of Pokémon were cute. She thinks you and her had a mind meld moment.😂
If I understand correctly, Dragon Types will almost always land a critical hit if Dragon Cheer is used, meaning that Sniper Kingdra could *potentially* be more of a threat than Swift Siwm Kingdra (Also, Hail HYDRApple)
50% btw, if you use high crit moves, it'll be 100%

Watching you piece this puzzle together is helping me figure out how to beat the E4. I'd already defeated Crispin, which was a pain in the butt, and I did research on how to beat the others, which raised a whole bunch of concerns. I'm thankful you post your gameplays because you're considered a Pokemon genius in my eyes. Your content is extremely entertaining, too.

I think one of the upgrades you can get is to allow you to see if a Pokemon has a mark when you view it in the wild.
i am so glad i am not the only one who over prepaid with a full team of 6 for the Drayton's challenges.
If reuniclus is a permanent team member, i think it would be nice if you teach it trick room because most of the team works on trickroom (Rhyperior, Archaludon, abomasnow, reuniclus itself and even Hydrapple)
It's kinda sad that the Base Speed Stat of 85 is considered slow these days. Power creep, man.
I had also thought if that, I have a similar team. Galarain slow bro also learns trick room, and has more stab type coverage. Tho it lacks reflect
Also, after watching this I also wanna run rhyperior inceniroar and archaludon, but 1. That makes have of my team weal to ground and fighting and 2. If I wanted to utilize rain for archaludon, inceniroars fire moves would be weakened. Any suggestions?

Oh, wow. I'm so surprised by how many people get the venonat question wrong, especially the poketubers. The anime even showed a episode of Venonat using its radar eyes to help find the crystal onix. But I'm just a weirdo who remembers all those details. X"D

I think it is because the question is worded weirdly. At least for me, radar and vision don't really click together unless it's something to do with ears or antenna. Like I get they didn't want it to be too obvious.

I had a weakness policy Suicune and a Meowscarada out against Kieran’s Hydrapple, and the Meowscarada survived on friendship… THREE TIMES IN A ROW!!! I ended up saying “what the heck” and launched a helping hand boosted flower trick into that slot, winning me the match.
Also: there's a new Physical electric move that Zebstrika learns: Supercell Slam; Ele - High Jump Kick. Sceptile also gains viability with Shed Tail.
It's based on jump kick, not high jump kick.

This dlc was super fun and the right amount of challenging, unlike the brutally difficult bdsp elite four. I will say, I found myself comparing this to that elite four. These trainers seem to use more broad items like berries, leftovers, focus sash, and stuff like that while the bdsp elite four has, for example, a marvel scale milotic with flame orb. This is a great dlc because they don’t make it insanely challenging by making fully competitive teams. I love this dlc
Finally defeated drayton (after 5+ tries, cause I'm not battle savy) and evolved my own shiny hydrapple and then saw you uploaded this!

The BBL elite four is (almost) a perfect type square. (Dragon weak to Fairy, Fairy weak to Steel, Steel weak to Fire, but dragon only resists fire)

I feel your pain with the BP. I was determined to use Blaziken on my team, because I wanted a Fire/Fighting Pokemon and I wanted to give something other than Infernape some attention (and I refuse to use Emboar, because I very much don't like it). Getting 3k BP took... about a full day of grinding those BBQs, and then turns out Torchic is only found in one spot in the Polar Biome, which I had to hunt down (it's in a cave with a Tera Metang). But, I buckled down and did it (because I'm very stubborn), and now my girl Phoenix is fully trained and part of my team.

@@pikahetti I'm sorry. I know people like him, but... I always saw him as my first big disappointment in Pokemon. Tepig is so cute, and a fire-pig, they had such a good chance to make a really cool hell-boar Pokemon. Instead, we got... Emboar. Which is a shame, because the other two Starters of that gen are so good, especially Serperior, my fav Grass type.

Of course it doesn't apply to VGC, but for in the Terarium I've found that Archaludon is incredibly good, and Electro Shot is an awesome move. Honestly, Body Press, Electro Shot, Stamina, Power Herb go a long way even without a dedicated rain team.
Yeah, he's been awesome. I got a shiny Beldum AND Duraludon when I did a single sandwich, so I've been using them both as my main duo. Metagross learns rain dance and trailblaze too
3,000 is just plain ridiculous to get, they should've made it 500 or something to make getting the starters easier.

when I played against Drayton his kingdra was the bane of my existence. It LITERALLY ALWAYS CRIT and it has sniper, and it literally never missed a hurricane
It has Sniper? Not Swift Swim? Despite knowing Rain Dance?
Oh, and the reason Hurricane was always hitting may be because Hurricane never misses in rain.

It's kinda weird that I prefer shiny Dipplin to its normal form, but I prefer normal Hydrapple to the shiny form...
I was going through The Indigo Disk when my game crashed, so I thought 'Oh no big deal.' turns out I was VERY wrong as when I went to load back in I discovered that my save data had been destroyed, so all that time and effort gone 😭 😭 😭 😠😠😠 is how I felt, what makes it even more painful though is that I had FOUR shinies (A Gliscor, a Honchkrow, a Dunsparce and a Glaceon I believe was the fourth) all of them gone. I'm not touching Scarlet OR Violet (as I have both) until after New Year at least.
