Tailwind is not a move you want on every single flyting type. Dragons Ascent however is a move you definetly would use on EVERY Flying type that has an acceptable attack stat :P But its in my opinion the second best flying type move with little to no competition.
Honorable Mention for the best Ice Type move goes to Freeze Dry. Being able to turn the Ice Resistance of Water Types into a Weakness is incredible especially given how gosh darn Bulky many of the most played Watertypes can be. Also opens up a Slot for better coverage IF your Pokemon otherwise would have to use a for example Grass or Electric Type move to deal with Waters.
I would definitely argue No Retreat being the best fighting move. Pardon my singles brain, but look at the sheer volume of pokemon in balanced hackmons that opt to run that move-when you have access to literally everything. A practically free omni-boost (whose side effect can also be side stepped by shed shell or being a ghost type) only held back by being on a coughing baby of a pokemon
i would also give honorable mentions to triple arrows which would be stupid and dumb and stupid on a fast pokemon, victory dance for. being victory dance, or detect
One move that everyone seems to forget about that I think deserves mention - Double Iron Bash. An 120 BP perfectly accurate multi-hit move with a 55% chance to flinch is crazy.
I think Oblivion Wing absolutely takes the flying slot, if every flying type could have oblivion wing, Lugia would be viable. Healing 75% of the damage dealt is absurd for an 80 BP move. Also for dark Wicked Blow is great but Id argue Knock off has a case to be made, but even then both are no taunt. Taunt shuts down so much that I feel its an easy number one. Last thing Ill mention is water, fishious rend is definitely the best. the argument of being able to click scald and burn things freely doesn't compare to just KOing whatever is in front of you if you move first. That's all Id change personally, great vid and cool list
I feel like the decision at the Game Freak office was "give Gigaton Hammer 160 BP and no recharge turn" or "give Tinkaton a good attack stat" and I'm glad they chose the funnier option.
Yea so glad they did the same with Ursaluna: "Hey we want to make a version with a Hyper Beam on roids". "Okay, but be sure to give it low attack." "Yeah we did dw."
We should make a format called “Moveset Inversion” that gives stronger mons weak moves and weaker mons shit like v create and gigaton hammer. Finally, Weedle and Mega Rayquaza can be on the same tier
Id like to suggest a video idea, how would give the rest of the Pokémon types a secondary trait, some types have additional traits associated to them other then just the standard type chart but if you were to give every type an additional bonus what would it be, alternatively rank all the current benifits from most useful to least. the ones we already have are: Grass: immune to powder moves Fire: immune to burn Electric: immune to paralysis Poison: immune to poison and clears toxic spikes if grounded Ice: immune to freeze and 50% def buff in snow Rock: 50% spdef buff in sand Dark: immune to moves given priority through prankster Ghost: cant be trapped by arena trap or shadow tag
I'd like it if they gave one to Psychic. Those that make more sense tho I think are immunity to confusion (too weak) or immunity to flinching (too busted).
@@ParkyMarz i feel like immunity to flinch should go to fighting type since they are valiant pokemon (we are not gonna talk about how busted it would be lmao)
Ground and Steel are also immune to sandstorm damage, and Steel types can’t be poisoned. Also, ghost types are immune to ALL forms of trapping, not just trapping abilities.
Kinda surprised Double Iron Bash wasnt at least mentioned. Effectively 120 BP, can ohko through Sash, 51% Flinch Rate. Slightly weaker that Gigaton Hammer but it can be used every turn and has multiple bonus effects. Its like Steel-type close combat but instead of 2 stat drops you can two bonus effects.
@skeetermania3202 usually a lot more switching in singles so knock off is giving you better long term effects whereas in doubles the games are generally shorter and making the move immune to intimidate is insanely good for a physical move.
10:07 I know gigaton hammer has a really big number with basicaly no drawback, but i think double iron bash is the best steel move, 30% to flinch and you hit twice with 2 60 bp moves. Double iron bash is a 120 base power move, that ignores focus sash and substitute that has a 50% chance to flinch you, has no drawback and it is even a punch move so it gets boosted by iron fist and punching globe
Only thing I could argue with is triple arrow for fighting, 50%def drop? allows a partner to kill instantly, 30% flinch? Forces opponent to play the game of focus miss, I'd say it it contends with sacred sword, sure you miss the perfect accuracy and indifference to stat changes, but it's still a solid move
I love the concept of other Pokémon learning dragon darts, because it implies that Garchomp is like, carrying some dreepy around in its pockets or something.
Protect is also the single reason why VGC is able to work as it does, without it the game would just be a hyper aggressive speedrun with little to no strategy or skill expression.
For pollen puff, don't forget, literally a bunch of Calyrex Shadow like to run it to hit dark types and the normal/psychic squad you can't hit with Astral barrage and the damage it does is surprising alongside obviously healing sometimes
I find it reeeeally hard to believe that v create isn't even worth a mention for fire. With 80 base power more trading for the burn chance and even with the drop to defenses. In a longer engagement being able to click sacred wins out but the ability to juke something out of existence in one turn is worth a lot.
In VGC, having to switch is a much bigger commitment, and it only doing single-target damage, it can be foiled by Protect. Plus you forgot to mention that it also lowers your Speed.
Honestly i would say sketch is prolly the best normal move just because if every normal tyoe could learn it thats BROKEN. And also pollen puff over uturn? Hell i would say its not really that close either. To be able to hit a quick move and swirch into a prediction is prolly one of the best feelings😂
I think collision course might be the best fighting type move. 100/100 with a secondary effect to nuke out incineroar is amazing. So many physical attackers that aren’t even fighting types could run as really strong coverage to beat the many fighting weak mons that exist. Sacred sword is really consistent but having that extra 10 base power will probably matter more than defence boosts or evasion Strats especially since the 2 main defence boosting mons, zamzenta and stamina archaludon will take 33% more from Collision course.
I do like how you make a quick mention of some of the best moves when it comes to pure power before explaining why a move with lower or no damage is better Considering moves like Sacred Sword are considered the best for their type because of power and consistency does make me want there to be more wide spread minimum 90 power 100 accuracy moves with no drawbacks
I think every type should get two 90 BP 100% accuracy moves, one physical and one special... Why does shadow ball have to be weaker? Why does high horsepower have to miss?
I don't play VGC (I play singles), but I watch some of the games. Here are my thoughts: Water: Steam Eruption > Scald 30 extra BP has to be worth dropping to 95% accuracy. Sacred Fire is just as accurate. Electric: Nuzzle > Bolt Beak I see a lot of fighting for speed control in VGC and Nuzzle is great for that. Fighting: Detect > Sacred Sword Protect clone even with halved PP is still better. 8 PP seems fine in VGC as well. Flying: Tailwind > Dragon Ascent Major speed control option, loss of Tailwind does more than loss of Dragon Ascent. Dark: Taunt > Wicked Blow Great utility, same reasoning above where losing it makes a big difference. Feel free to correct me on anything. This is just based on the games I've watched.
I want to throw Mighty Cleave (Iron Boulder's signature move) into the ring for consideration for the best Rock-type move. 100% accuracy, 95 base power, boosted by Sharpness, and bypasses Protect (and similar moves). It would literally let every physical Rock-type attacker become Urshifu. I don't think any physical Rock-type attacker wouldn't run this move if they had access to it.
Also p sure knock off > wicked blow, it does almost the same amount of damage due to the 50% boost to the 65 it gets when hitting an item and getting rid of the item is such a ridiculously busted secondary effect
I would have personally said Dark Void for dark, because there’s nothing balanced about putting two pokemon to sleep. When it comes to nightmares, Smeargle’s pretty prominent in mine 😆 For Rock, what about Wide Guard? Anything that makes Calyrex sad is worth a mention to me! For Psychic, Photon Geyser is BUSTED. It can use either attack or special attack and ignores abilities! For Poison, Malignant Chain is 100 power and 100 accuracy and has a 50/50 chance to apply toxic poison. I would still have said Dire Claw though 🤷♂️
Here are my takes Status/Damage (only Damage if no significant Status): Steel - King's Shield/Double Iron Bash Water - Fishious Rend Bug - Quiver Dance/U-Turn Dragon - Dragon Dance/Core Enforcer Electric - Bolt Beak Ghost - Spectral Thief Fire - Burning Bulwark/Sacred Fire Fairy - Geomancy/Sparkly Swirl Fighting - Victory Dance/Sacred Sword Flying - Tailwind/Oblivion Wing Ice - Aurora Veil/Glacial Lance Normal - Protect/Fake Out Grass - Spiky Shield/Sappy Seed Psychic - Trick Room/Hyperspace Hole Rock - Stealth Rock/Diamond Storm Dark - Taunt/Hyperspace Fury (if anyone could use it, if not then Wicked Blow) Ground - Thousand Arrows Poison - Baneful Bunker/Dire Claw Based upon how much they affect a pokemon on randomizers
Wicked Blow over Knock Off is kind of crazy imo, any physical mon (and sometimes special mons) will run knock off if given access to it because of how good it is
I was gonna comment tailwind would like to have a word when I was halfway through the video, but you mentioned it at the end. I think tailwind is far more impactful on the game than flying close combat. The scenarios where you'd want tailwind for speed control on your team is probably far higher than the scenarios where you have a physical flying type on your team that would appreciate the move or even physical attackers using it as a coverage option.
I will say, surprised that none of the pivot moves got a mention. Volt Switch, U-turn, and Flip Turn, while probably not the best moves of their types, are definitely incredibly powerful tools to have.
1:34 - "Insert obligatory mention of Shadow Moves as their classification was the ??? Type back then" 10:06 - Obligatory Hackmons Strategy mention: Run Melmetal for a slow Steel Type with high Attack, give it Prankster for Ability, and Gigaton Hammer + Copycat for a BS BONK Nuke. If the opponent doesn't have a Dark Type or one of like 8 Defensive Walls it's just GGs, the damage is so absurd on top of going first on the second use (and potentially repeatedly if the opponent doesn't think to use their own Priority Move as you can use Copycat back to back without a fail). 14:11 - Second Place for Poison I'd suggest Barb Barrage, sig move of Overquil, it's a 60BP 100Acc Physical Move with a 50% Chance to Poison which is already good BUT ALSO is doubled in Power when the opponent is Poisoned... It's just Gunk Shot but better and abuses Choice Band, if they ever give a Pokemon both this and the Merciless Ability (Toxipex's Sig Ability noone thinks about, which Guarantees Crits on Poisoned Opponents) Poison Immune stonks would go through the roof.
I'd give the best steel move to double iron bash. VGC players haven't had to deal with it, but it's a 100% accuracy 60 base power move that hits twice (having a 120 total BP). Also it's boosted by iron fist on the only pokemon that gets it. Also it has a 30% flinch rate. On each hit of the move. This usually didn't come up because of how slow melmetal is, but giving it to any steel type with a speed type (or gets to abuse trick room) and this quickly becomes a monster. Did I mention it has absolutely 0 drawback?
I mean, aren't Spiky Shield, Baneful Bunker, King's Shield, Burning Bulwark, Obstruct and Silk Trap just better versions of protect? If any pokemon could use them, they would be absolutely broken.
Some don't work on status like protect, and they require physical contact which is not every physical attack, and like 2 special attacks ti trigger where Protect and to a lesser extend Detect just say nope under 99.9 cases
3:16 Fishious Rend for Relicanth. You know we want it, Game Freak, no matter how bad it might be. 7:30 I was expecting Parabolic Charge for honorable mention, but I suppose its base power is too low, even with the buff. 13:13 I was expecting Tailwind here, but Dragon Ascent is a pretty good one. Flying has so many 'good but not great' attacks but not as many amazing ones. 16:30 Fair enough though!
Overall pretty good, the only one I think I'd disagree with is Electric, imo the best Electric-Move is Volt Switch. It keeps the momentum up in both Singles and Doubles and Electric being a good offensive type is what does it for me.
I'm not sure whether i like the idea to ignore some moves due to interacting with the meta in a certain specific way. One could argue that stealth rocks is the best rock move, yet it only takes a rapid spin (or a rock resistance) to essentially negate it, plus it sees no use in vgc. Same thing with toxic spikes.
Okay, commenting this after seeing the best normal move. Surely the best fire, steel, fighting, grass, poison, dark and bug moves are obvious right? (Burning Bulwark, King’s Shield, Detect, Spiky Shield, Baneful Bunker, Obstruct and Silk Trap)
@@fe_three_rosses you dont get it. Even if any pokemon could get it, it is a characteristic of the move for it to have no effect when any pokemon but hoopa uses it. If you hack a pikachu with hyperspace fury into a game and you use it, the move does nothing. You can hack a pikachu with judgement and it will work properly, but hyper.fury will do nothing. Its a characteristic of the move, to do nothing when not used by hoopa. Changing that would be a mod, a romhack as you would be modyfying the code of the game.
6:40 mistake, on turn 3 there’s a 50% chance to wake up That’s because in total, there’s a 33% chance to wake up on turn 3, but if you even got to turn 3, that means you didn’t wake up on turn 2 so that changes the odds 15:34 astral barrage was never 130BP and glacial lance isn’t anymore
Hello Mr. Boosted, I come proposing changes for a certain trio of pokemon. I know this might not be the best video for it, but here you go regardless. My proposed new stat spread for the Hitmontrio would look like Hitmonlee Hp: 75 (+25) Atk: 125 (+5) Def: 40 (-13) Sp Atk: 30 (-5) Sp Def: 110 Spd: 105 (+18) Hitmonchan Hp: 75 (+25) Atk: 100 (-5) Def: 125 (+46) Sp Atk: 30 (-5) Sp Def: 110 Spd: 40 (-36) Hitmontop Hp: 75 (+25) Atk: 100 (+5) Def: 100 (+5) Sp Atk: 30 (-5) Sp Def: 110 Spd: 65 (-5) I'd also propose new abilities, Limber on Hitmonlee isn't the greatest, neither is Keen Eye on Hitmonchan or Steadfast on Hitmontop, but I'm mostly focusing on adjusting their stats a bit. 455 isn't the worst bst, but I did bump em all up to 480 by granting all three +25 to Hp. I'd appreciate if you could give me your thoughts on this, but I understand if you don't see this.
My man forgot about triple arrows for fighting type. 90 power with high crit chance, chance to flinch and chance for defense drop. Kinda great. Using it on my Blaziken on radical red.
I would probably actually pick Stone Axe for Rock. Yes, it gets a lot more devalued in VGC due to Stealth Rock being less valued, but it’s not useless there (heck Kleavor has proven itself across two videos as pretty good for a Mofongo), it’s of course incredibly strong in Singles past Stealth Rock The Move itself, and it can get a Sharpness boost.
Tailwind Protect Stealth rock Torch song Scald Spore Knock off Geomancy Dragon dance Double iron bash Spikes Nuzzle Dire claw Glacial lance Trick room/calm mind Astral barrage Sticky web Close combat
I feel like Pollen Puff should be made into a whole category of moves called Resonance Moves or something: Psychic Resonance, Aura Resonance, Electromagnetic Resonance, Spirit Resonance, Shadow Resonance, Draco Resonance, Dazzling Resonance, and rename the OG to Pheromone Resonance. It could pretty much be a gimmick available to support mons that aren’t normal, steel, rock, ground, poison, or starter types which don’t have great associations with natural/fictional energy types.
I think it would've been nice to see some more Honorable Mentions for each type. Spiky Shield is a direct upgrade to protect but wasn't mentioned. Some really good moves like Matcha Gotcha, Double Iron Bash and U-Turn could've at least used some mentioning, even if they might be generally worse.
I think you're underrating Double Iron Bash a decent amount, a move balanced around its only user being slow and illegal in VGC. A 51% chance to flinch from a move that's only 25% less powerful than Gigaton Hammer sounds oppressive in its own right. At least you can theoretically be immune to Gigaton if you alternate your Protects and attacks. You don't even need to think when using DIB. I also think Knock Off deserves a mention too. It really can't be overstated how much it compresses into a single moveslot, and is a move you could even get away with running on something pretty passive
One of the strangest moves that is just obscenely strong has to be Aura Wheel. I thought it was just like an 80 bp move, but its 110? And Morpeko can just change its stab each turn? Its such an oddly strong move, especially for a Pika-Clone. Imagine if other electric or dark type mons got this move. Kingambit with a speed boost every time it uses it? Thats always fun
Okay: but counterpoint on Water/Fire/Electric/Ice moves: Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevees special moves are downright broken. Splishy Splash (water) is a 90 power Scald that has a 30% chance to paralyze instead of burn. Buzzy Buzz (electric) is a 90 power Nuzzle with a guaranteed paralysis. Sizzly Slide (fire) is a 90 power guaranteed burn And Freezy Frost (ice) is a 90 power attack with a haze stapled on. Oh, and all of these special moves are 100% accurate.
I don't think the others hang compared to your list, TBH. Dark and Psychic setting up screens or reflect are not better than Trick Room or Wicked Blow. Grass setting leech seed is not better than Spore. Fairy being a cure-bell isn't better than Geomancy. Flying isn't better than Dragon Ascent. And Normal is just.. Return. Which is not better than Protect
6:40 You would have a 67% chance to wake up turn 3 if you look at each turn individually (which you are doing since you put 100% turn 4). This is a perfect example of the Monty Hall problem.
It is interesting how this list would differ for singles. Rocks are obviously amazing (as mentioned in the video), things like bug would probably go to U-turn or Sticky Web. Dark might be Sucker Punch or Pursuit if we allow dexited moves (wicked blow goes crazy). Its definitely up to debate all things considered but its a cool thought experiment. Scald is the GOAT though...
If we talk about every move ever I’d say Water:Obviously steam eruption that move is busted Fire:With zero doubt sizzly slide basically 90 bp 100% accurate always burning move Grass:Spore sleep just sucks Electric:Buzzy buzz paralyzing no matter what it’s an electric sizzly slide for electric types Dragon:Smart ai Dragon Darts is amazing Fairy:Geomancy though decorate is also amazing Steel:Double iron hits twice at 60 bp where each hit has a 30% flinch rate and gets iron fist boost so single target rock slide Fighting:possible argument for combat torque a 100 bp move that paras 30% the time but sacred sword is so strong Bug:U-turn or tail glow u-turn is just nice for slow switching and chip while plus three instantly is pretty strong Flying:Tailwind is amazing but for a wild pick oblivion wing is an 80 bp move that heals 75% damage dealt Rock:Diamond storm is just makes all other rock moves look useless unless you hit the jackpot and boost five times with ancient power then there was no luck just skill Poison:What Pokemon wouldn’t want dire claw Ground:Outside of freeze dry maybe thousand arrows flat has the best offensive type chart in the game Dark:No contest hyperspace fury hits through protect as a 100 bp move just for the cost of lowering the users defense one stage also hits no matter what it even if I minimize six times Ghost:Astral Barrage but also spectral their is stupid too Ice:Glacial Lance is just busted Psychic:Honestly super hard tossup between trick room and hyperspace hole since hyperspace hole is hyperspace fury but instead of 100 bp and lowers users defense it’s 80 that doesn’t lower defense
For fire type I'd like to give a contender to sacred fire in victini's other signature move searing shot! apart from having a slightly lower burn chance (30%) it has it all in being 100BP having 100 accuracy and being a spread move! It's a stronger more reliable heat wave which already sees lots of use in VGC give the move to a chi-yu for e.g. and it's devastating the field
Triple Arrows would be completely absurd on anything with Speed higher than 60. Double Iron Bash is the same but arguably even better due to higher power and chance to Flinch. Tailglow, Victory Dance, and Quiver Dance are also great boosting moves. They're no Geomancy, but nothing is. Decorate is a top-tier partner boosting move. Baneful Bunker and Spiky Shield are just better Protect, and Detect is also Protect. Follow Me is arguably the best support move after Protect, but it's still behind Protect. Nuzzle's a fantastic support move that bypasses Taunt. On that note, Taunt is one of the best support moves. Aura Wheel is busted. It breaks the rules by being absurdly strong and still having a positive secondary effect. Matcha Gotcha is one of the best spread moves in the game even if not 100% accurate. Finally, switching moves (U-Turn, Parting Shot, Flip Turn, Volt Switch, Chilly Reception, and Shed Tail) are all great pivoting options, especially on Intimidate mons *cough*.
Tail glow or at least u-turn for bug. Tail glow increases your attack by 3 stages, which is belly drum with no drawbacks. U-turn has completely reshaped competitive VGC history being able to pivot out slow bulky Pokemon with frail attackers. These moves made Pokemon like Rillaboom and Maniphy all time greats. It even made Volbeat viable for crying out loud.
@@melvondrewhite2674I mean sure, but the move is often insane in how much it heals as well as reducing future damage. Most attackers have both att and sp.att. Most walls would kill for it. I guess it’s better for singles though..
11:57 I know this is a doubles-focused video, but as a singles-only player that only has a surface level understanding of the VGC metagame, hearing any move other than U-turn threw me for a loop. Much less a move I've never heard of before.
We’re gonna talk about Sacred Fire and Eruption…yet we’re not gonna talk about V-Create? V-Create HIGHEST BP in the game with 95% accuracy. Although drops Defense, SpD, and Speed, it doesn’t drop Attack and it’s consistent damage unlike Eruption. In Balanced Hackmons, where almost any move, ability, and Pokemon is allowed, V-Create, on any high Physical Attacker is just OP. In BH, it’s held back because only so many mons can use it because certain abilities and movesets prevent it from doing so. I believe it’s banned in STABmons, which is where almost any move is allowed on that STAB-mon. (I don’t play that format though, only BH). You could probably run a mixed set and have mediocre attack stat. It’s peak raw damage in this game (that can be used more than once-obviously you can only use Explosion moves once). You can pivot, use Eject Pack, or Mental Herb to get rid of the effects.
Kind of surprised switch moves aren't mentioned here. Volt Switch, U Turn, Parting Shot, Chilly Reception. I'm not saying they should all be the best move of their types but just the sheer utility they have is insane. I can't think of any mon that has one of these moves that won't at least consider them sometimes.
Rip not mentioning Electro Shot which is super strong (130 BP), raises SpA and has no charging turn in rain (especially good in singles, but I imagine it has some use in doubles even being an Archaludon signature move?)
Isn't steam eruption just objectively better scald, making it the best water move?

Id like to suggest a video idea, how would give the rest of the Pokémon types a secondary trait, some types have additional traits associated to them other then just the standard type chart but if you were to give every type an additional bonus what would it be, alternatively rank all the current benifits from most useful to least. the ones we already have are:
Grass: immune to powder moves
Fire: immune to burn
Electric: immune to paralysis
Poison: immune to poison and clears toxic spikes if grounded
Ice: immune to freeze and 50% def buff in snow
Rock: 50% spdef buff in sand
Dark: immune to moves given priority through prankster
Ghost: cant be trapped by arena trap or shadow tag
Really think the best dark move would be knock off but wicked blow is really strong as well.
If this was for singles yea knock would probably be a top 5 move of any type
@@B0nsai_444Why singles and not doubles?
@skeetermania3202 usually a lot more switching in singles so knock off is giving you better long term effects whereas in doubles the games are generally shorter and making the move immune to intimidate is insanely good for a physical move.
If it was pre gen 7, I’m pretty sure the answer would be dark void
Nah , Wicked Blow Is One-Shotting Anything Weak To It & Two-Shotting Anything Neutral .
Gotta say clangorous soul on most dragon types would be a war crime cough cough Koridon
He Would Never Get That . 😂
Flip Turn, U-Turn, Volt Switch, Knock Off, Spikey Shield and Detect are all honerable mentions
Nah, best Normal move is Sketch
it would be useless, since in the context of this video every pokemon already learns every move
Nobody is clicking sketch at a vgc match ever
Sketch Protect
@natecgames4612 Wait, hold up, your cooking
@le_m4cho965 Yeah, I read the title and figured it would have been what would every Pokémon would want to learn.
Calling protect the best move in the game when there’s objectively better versions of it was certainly a take.
6:08 Wolfe screaming in agony rn
For pollen puff, don't forget, literally a bunch of Calyrex Shadow like to run it to hit dark types and the normal/psychic squad you can't hit with Astral barrage and the damage it does is surprising alongside obviously healing sometimes
This changes only a bit but glacial lance got nerfed in gen 9 to have 120 instead of 130, idk what would come close to it regardless though 15:27
Beat move of every type for smogon singles (no sig moves)
Normal: Rapid spin / boomburst /e speed
Fighting: close combat
Flying: brave bird
Poison: toxic spike ?
Ground: earthquake / spike
Rock: Stealth rock
Bug: u turn / web / quiver dance
Ghost: shadow ball
Steel: idk
Fire: Sacred fire
Water: Scald
Grass: spore
Electric: volt switch
Psychic: trick room?
Ice: freeze dry
Dark: knock off
Fairy: Moonblast
Dragon: dragon dance
Poison should be toxic imo, steel could be shift gear or bullet punch
Steel could be Iron Head due to 30% flinch rate.
@@kailesperance1922 yea seems fair
I find it reeeeally hard to believe that v create isn't even worth a mention for fire. With 80 base power more trading for the burn chance and even with the drop to defenses. In a longer engagement being able to click sacred wins out but the ability to juke something out of existence in one turn is worth a lot.
In VGC, having to switch is a much bigger commitment, and it only doing single-target damage, it can be foiled by Protect.
Plus you forgot to mention that it also lowers your Speed.
Mighty cleave for rock is maybe better, cause you can turn every pokemon into Urshifu.
Ye man
Honestly i would say sketch is prolly the best normal move just because if every normal tyoe could learn it thats BROKEN. And also pollen puff over uturn? Hell i would say its not really that close either. To be able to hit a quick move and swirch into a prediction is prolly one of the best feelings😂
Nobody is clicking sketch at a vgc match ever
I think collision course might be the best fighting type move. 100/100 with a secondary effect to nuke out incineroar is amazing. So many physical attackers that aren’t even fighting types could run as really strong coverage to beat the many fighting weak mons that exist.
Sacred sword is really consistent but having that extra 10 base power will probably matter more than defence boosts or evasion Strats especially since the 2 main defence boosting mons, zamzenta and stamina archaludon will take 33% more from Collision course.
I’m gonna unleash my poke juice on you
I do like how you make a quick mention of some of the best moves when it comes to pure power before explaining why a move with lower or no damage is better
Considering moves like Sacred Sword are considered the best for their type because of power and consistency does make me want there to be more wide spread minimum 90 power 100 accuracy moves with no drawbacks
I think every type should get two 90 BP 100% accuracy moves, one physical and one special... Why does shadow ball have to be weaker? Why does high horsepower have to miss?
I really thought Dragon Dance will be the Dragon move of choice due to how high you can stack the buff it provides.
4:11 "Iron Fumble" followed by Tetsutetsu the Bronzong KILLED ME
GIVE DIAMOND STORM TO CARBINK!!! PLEASE!!! MY BOI NEEDS IT!!!
Carbink? More like *CRACKEDbink*
I don't play VGC (I play singles), but I watch some of the games. Here are my thoughts:
Water: Steam Eruption > Scald
30 extra BP has to be worth dropping to 95% accuracy. Sacred Fire is just as accurate.
Electric: Nuzzle > Bolt Beak
I see a lot of fighting for speed control in VGC and Nuzzle is great for that.
Fighting: Detect > Sacred Sword
Protect clone even with halved PP is still better. 8 PP seems fine in VGC as well.
Flying: Tailwind > Dragon Ascent
Major speed control option, loss of Tailwind does more than loss of Dragon Ascent.
Dark: Taunt > Wicked Blow
Great utility, same reasoning above where losing it makes a big difference.
Feel free to correct me on anything. This is just based on the games I've watched.
2:49
Urshifu would love to have an UNSEEN word with you. She definitely won’t punch you multiple times
😂😂😂😂😂😂
When it comes to nightmares, Smeargle’s pretty prominent in mine 😆
For Rock, what about Wide Guard? Anything that makes Calyrex sad is worth a mention to me!
For Psychic, Photon Geyser is BUSTED. It can use either attack or special attack and ignores abilities!
For Poison, Malignant Chain is 100 power and 100 accuracy and has a 50/50 chance to apply toxic poison. I would still have said Dire Claw though 🤷♂️
They nerfed Dark Void, so I don't think it counts as the best anymore.
@@FalseHeraldIt’s still a 50/50 on both pokemon!
@@Cosmic0508_SCits way too unreliable m8. No one would use it on smeargle if it could still learn it over spore.

Here are my takes
Status/Damage (only Damage if no significant Status):
Steel - King's Shield/Double Iron Bash
Water - Fishious Rend
Bug - Quiver Dance/U-Turn
Dragon - Dragon Dance/Core Enforcer
Electric - Bolt Beak
Ghost - Spectral Thief
Fire - Burning Bulwark/Sacred Fire
Fairy - Geomancy/Sparkly Swirl
Fighting - Victory Dance/Sacred Sword
Flying - Tailwind/Oblivion Wing
Ice - Aurora Veil/Glacial Lance
Normal - Protect/Fake Out
Grass - Spiky Shield/Sappy Seed
Psychic - Trick Room/Hyperspace Hole
Rock - Stealth Rock/Diamond Storm
Dark - Taunt/Hyperspace Fury (if anyone could use it, if not then Wicked Blow)
Ground - Thousand Arrows
Poison - Baneful Bunker/Dire Claw
Based upon how much they affect a pokemon on randomizers
You forgot about rain dance for water's status move.
Wicked Blow over Knock Off is kind of crazy imo, any physical mon (and sometimes special mons) will run knock off if given access to it because of how good it is
It’s 65 Base Power . 😂
Bro Even Darkiest Lariat Is Better Than Knock-Off .
Type back then"
10:06 - Obligatory Hackmons Strategy mention: Run Melmetal for a slow Steel Type with high Attack, give it Prankster for Ability, and Gigaton Hammer + Copycat for a BS BONK Nuke.
I think it’s thunder wave cause Thundurus terrorized VGC for years with the move.
10:50 gigaton gambit my. . . GOD. . .
Kingambit wasn’t suggercoating it.
12:45
Thats why I want a fighting type Pollen Puff called Knuckle Sandwich
Yes, fighting is my favorite type why do you ask?
Hyperspace fury breaks through protect, is stonger than knock off and can never miss, so i think it should have at least been metioned
It can only be used by hoppa. Its a true signature move, as when any other pokemon tries to use it the game just says no and the move does nothing.
@@Nmoment-uv6jcbut for the purposes of this video, exclusivity isn't a problem
@@fe_three_rosses you dont get it. Even if any pokemon could get it, it is a characteristic of the move for it to have no effect when any pokemon but hoopa uses it.
If you hack a pikachu with hyperspace fury into a game and you use it, the move does nothing. You can hack a pikachu with judgement and it will work properly, but hyper.fury will do nothing.
Its a characteristic of the move, to do nothing when not used by hoopa. Changing that would be a mod, a romhack as you would be modyfying the code of the game.
@@Nmoment-uv6jcAnd Knock-Off Is Only 65 Base Power . Darkiest Lariat Is Better Overall !
6:40 mistake, on turn 3 there’s a 50% chance to wake up
That’s because in total, there’s a 33% chance to wake up on turn 3, but if you even got to turn 3, that means you didn’t wake up on turn 2 so that changes the odds
15:34 astral barrage was never 130BP and glacial lance isn’t anymore
Hello Mr. Boosted, I come proposing changes for a certain trio of pokemon. I know this might not be the best video for it, but here you go regardless.
My proposed new stat spread for the Hitmontrio would look like
Hitmonlee
Hp: 75 (+25)
Atk: 125 (+5)
Def: 40 (-13)
Sp Atk: 30 (-5)
Sp Def: 110
Spd: 105 (+18)
Hitmonchan
Hp: 75 (+25)
Atk: 100 (-5)
Def: 125 (+46)
Sp Atk: 30 (-5)
Sp Def: 110
Spd: 40 (-36)
Hitmontop
Hp: 75 (+25)
Atk: 100 (+5)
Def: 100 (+5)
Sp Atk: 30 (-5)
Sp Def: 110
Spd: 65 (-5)
I'd also propose new abilities, Limber on Hitmonlee isn't the greatest, neither is Keen Eye on Hitmonchan or Steadfast on Hitmontop, but I'm mostly focusing on adjusting their stats a bit. 455 isn't the worst bst, but I did bump em all up to 480 by granting all three +25 to Hp. I'd appreciate if you could give me your thoughts on this, but I understand if you don't see this.
I'm still wondering why they made *Dragon Ascent,* a move in a game series where the *Dragon type* attacks have *Dragon* in the name...Flying type.
Damage fairies
@@DrakoNotDracoWhich Was Stupid , They Were Literally Just Kissing Rayquaza’s A$$ . 😂
My man forgot about triple arrows for fighting type. 90 power with high crit chance, chance to flinch and chance for defense drop. Kinda great. Using it on my Blaziken on radical red.
How i think this list would go in singles (and kind of doubles too)
normal: E-speed/shell smash
water: fisheus riend
fire: torch song
grass: spore
electric: bolt beak
dragon: clangorous soul (debatable)
fairy: geomancy
steel: double iron bash (debatable)
fighting: no retreat/victory dance/triple arrows
bug: sticky web (debatable)
flying: draco ascent
rock: stone axe (im technically not comenting about stealth rocks)
poison: malignant chain/dire claw
ground: thousand arrows
dark: parting shot
ghost: last respects
ice: glacial lance
psychic: esper wing (debatable)
"What do you mean landorus is paralyzed!? " I felt that frustration in my soul, Marcos. 😂😂😂
Tailwind
Protect
Stealth rock
Torch song
Scald
Spore
Knock off
Geomancy
Dragon dance
Double iron bash
Spikes
Nuzzle
Dire claw
Glacial lance
Trick room/calm mind
Astral barrage
Sticky web
Close combat
Iron Fumble. I'm naming the Iron Bundle I got traded that now. God tier nickname
7:15 well, yes. May as well count poison and flying too, for bulbasaur and rowlet
6:08 It's funny that you use this template, because FlygonHG just used the same one in his video, moose court and all
Okay: but counterpoint on Water/Fire/Electric/Ice moves:
Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevees special moves are downright broken.
Splishy Splash (water) is a 90 power Scald that has a 30% chance to paralyze instead of burn.
Buzzy Buzz (electric) is a 90 power Nuzzle with a guaranteed paralysis.
Sizzly Slide (fire) is a 90 power guaranteed burn
And Freezy Frost (ice) is a 90 power attack with a haze stapled on.
Now do it for physical special and status.
If we talk about every move ever I’d say
Water:Obviously steam eruption that move is busted
Fire:With zero doubt sizzly slide basically 90 bp 100% accurate always burning move
Grass:Spore sleep just sucks
Electric:Buzzy buzz paralyzing no matter what it’s an electric sizzly slide for electric types
Dragon:Smart ai Dragon Darts is amazing
Fairy:Geomancy though decorate is also amazing
Steel:Double iron hits twice at 60 bp where each hit has a 30% flinch rate and gets iron fist boost so single target rock slide
Fighting:possible argument for combat torque a 100 bp move that paras 30% the time but sacred sword is so strong
Bug:U-turn or tail glow u-turn is just nice for slow switching and chip while plus three instantly is pretty strong
Flying:Tailwind is amazing but for a wild pick oblivion wing is an 80 bp move that heals 75% damage dealt
Rock:Diamond storm is just makes all other rock moves look useless unless you hit the jackpot and boost five times with ancient power then there was no luck just skill
Poison:What Pokemon wouldn’t want dire claw
Ground:Outside of freeze dry maybe thousand arrows flat has the best offensive type chart in the game
Dark:No contest hyperspace fury hits through protect as a 100 bp move just for the cost of lowering the users defense one stage also hits no matter what it even if I minimize six times
Ghost:Astral Barrage but also spectral their is stupid too
Ice:Glacial Lance is just busted
Psychic:Honestly super hard tossup between trick room and hyperspace hole since hyperspace hole is hyperspace fury but instead of 100 bp and lowers users defense it’s 80 that doesn’t lower defense
For fire type I'd like to give a contender to sacred fire in victini's other signature move searing shot! apart from having a slightly lower burn chance (30%) it has it all in being 100BP having 100 accuracy and being a spread move! It's a stronger more reliable heat wave which already sees lots of use in VGC give the move to a chi-yu for e.g. and it's devastating the field
i do think body press is worth considering personally, it’s just an interesting move that gives more utility to defensive mons which is sick
I feel like Strength Sap deserves a mention, although spore obviously clears
Strength Sap Is Only Good On Physical Attackers , You Wouldn’t Dare Try That Move On A Special Attacker ..
@@melvondrewhite2674I mean sure, but the move is often insane in how much it heals as well as reducing future damage. Most attackers have both att and sp.att. Most walls would kill for it. I guess it’s better for singles though..
Mighty Cleave is one of the most slept on moves tbh. Perfectly accurate physical rock-type move that breaks through Protect with full damage
11:57 I know this is a doubles-focused video, but as a singles-only player that only has a surface level understanding of the VGC metagame, hearing any move other than U-turn threw me for a loop. Much less a move I've never heard of before.
And Stealth Rock for Rock type
Secret sword is also a great fighting move. 5 bp weaker than sacred but is special. Plus, it hits physical while using the special atk stat.
Here are my guesses:
Normal: Protect
Fighting: Close Combat
Flying: Tailwind
Poison: Toxic
Ground: Earthquake
Rock: Stealth Rocks
Bug: Rage Powder
Ghost: Shadow Ball
Steel: Make it rain
Fire: Eruption
Water: Surging Strikes
Grass: Spore
Electric: Thunder Wave
Psychic: Trick Room
Ice: Aurora Veil
Dragon: Dragon Dance
Dark: Wicked Blow
Fairy: Geomancy
