SAOKO by Rosalia is one of my favorite openers- it's a banger that puts so much energy into the whole album experience. It couldn't be anywhere else on the album, and I couldn't imagine another song opening MOTOMAMI.
I know they'll never talk about her since she's primarily popular in Australia and NZ (if I'm not mistaken) so I want to throw Kimbra's 'Settle Down' out into the void of TH-cam comments. Vows is one of my favorite albums of all time and that first track is just a stupid good intro and standalone track. Starts with this quiet acapella bit that seamlessly transitions into the background as the rest of the sound spills in. And the drop into the hook is just fucking unbelievable. I highly recommend that entire album to everyone. And yes, it is *that* Kimbra; the one with the feature on 'Somebody That I Used to Know'.
love seeing the underoath shoutout from Riley, i’ve always loved their album They’re Only Chasing Safety most but I agree the opener to Define the Great Line is such a fitting intro. a few favourites of mine that immediately come to mind: Such Small Hands/ A Departure by La Dispute (both are such strong starts i couldn’t decide which, lead you into the concepts of their respective albums really well) High for This by The Weeknd (perfect way to introduce you to the sex/drug fuelled ride you’re in for) Beef Rapp by MF DOOM (iconic sample usage and clever lyrical content to drive home the food themes across the record)

love seeing In Regards To Myself getting an honorable mention nod from Riley. DTGL is a beast of an album and one very dear to my teenage years. Those whole list has so many hitters though, I'm glad they really touched on so many genres
yo the entire video i was thinking of "in regards to myself", hearing it actually get mentioned is tight. such a banger of an opener to a total banger of an album.
I got 5 that I would've included: - Intro by The xx on xx (kinda obvious, but there's a reason why. I love this album and it's one of the most iconic instrumental tracks ever. What a beautiful project) - Is This It by The Strokes on Is This It (they have so many and, though it's not my fav individual song, as I preffer What Ever Happened? off of Room On Fire or the classic You Only Live Once, outside of The Adults Are Talking on The New Abnormal, which you already mentioned on a video so to change it up, Is This It works the best as an intro. It's trippy, it's funky, and it was very different for them at the time for it being the 1st song on their debut, as they were known for being more of a garage punk band) - Brianstorm by Arctic Monkeys on Favourite Worst Nightmare (bombastic. I'm a big fan of calming or slowburn intros, but this one's too fire I can get behind the firework show. Insane instrumentation and just a bit better lead track than the one on their debut. It's also more iconic, tho not as Do I Wanna Know?) - Hard Times by Paramore on After Laughter (love this album. Could've gone with the self-titled on This Is Why or even Careful, but the vibes on AL are immaculate. Very Talking Heads inspired and 80's alt overall. It's such a bop. One of my fav songs period) - Jumpsuit by Twenty One Pilots on Trench (I know you aren't crazy about them but this is THE album for them and as song is one of the standouts for sure. I do preffer Ode To Sleep on Vessel as an intro but Trench is the better album and Jumpsuit the better song. Also bombastic. Electric bass work from Tyler and drumming as well. Def an epic intro and one of their most rock tracks. I've yet to see someone disliking this tune)

Great call on In Regards To Myself by Underoath. I think those are the sound of projector reels spinning and then it goes so hard. Perfect opener for that album. I would also submit another Radiohead song with 15 Step to open In Rainbows. That’s a song that gets stuck in my head constantly.
Serve the Servants off In Utero by Nirvana. Perfectly establishes the sound and style, especially that first chord just pulls you in, and lyrically it shows the growth and change in perspective Kurt at least felt that he had since the previous albums. I mean "teenage angst has paid off well, but now I'm bored and old" is one of the best opening lines ever.
The fact he argues with his alter ego to the point where he eventually ends up fighting himself at the end of the song is the greatest introduction to the rest of the record and it's perfect
was really hoping to see genesis by justice, it perfectly introduces the sound of the album with its sound design and creative use of samples, while also capturing the drama they were after with an "opera disco'' album
I went to a traveling art exhibit in Atlanta Georgia for Picasso and Calder and bought a Picasso book. Dignan’s ignorance about van gogh made me finally pick up the damn book 3 years later.

So glad Graydon picked Bitch Where, such a victory lap for Keef. So inspiring and triumphant, it makes you feel like you can do anything.
Syringe - Nothing Else Now off of ANTI-WRLD is by far my favorite into song to any project ever made
The fact he argues with his alter ego to the point where he eventually ends up fighting himself at the end of the song is the greatest introduction to the rest of the record and it's perfect
Funny enough, the outro, Realization, has one of my favorite intros to any song ever also
that dance yrself clean rating will have BIG consequences for the worlds general sense of peace..
I think a first songs bracket would be splended!
was really hoping to see genesis by justice, it perfectly introduces the sound of the album with its sound design and creative use of samples, while also capturing the drama they were after with an "opera disco'' album
Its a greasy little lick its almost jammy
I went to a traveling art exhibit in Atlanta Georgia for Picasso and Calder and bought a Picasso book. Dignan’s ignorance about van gogh made me finally pick up the damn book 3 years later.
i’d really like to see an interlude tier list from yall sometime :)
I feel like there are multiple perfect death grips first songs. Up my sleeves, beware, giving bad people good ideas, they really know how to start an album.
good picks guys but i think you were missing some essentials: what are you doing with the rest of your life (bill evans), springtime again (sun ra), beware (death grips), maggot brain (funkadelic), 1539 n calvert (JPEGMAFIA), beef rapp (MF DOOM), pharaoh’s dance (miles davis), 21st century schizoid man (king crimson), downward spiral (danny brown), love’s in need of love today (stevie wonder), it could happen to you (ryo fukui), and ESPECIALLY brand new (lil dicky)
really disappointed me
Definitely want to see a first songs on album bracket on the main channel, thank you for asking 🤠 42:48
