the biggest thing is that he didnt even need to do that -- Kendrick was obv gunning for Drake, and since Cole was standing next to him, he could get some too. the best thing Cole could have done was not to respond; respond with what he said at Dreamville (basically that he doesnt wanna do it like that, be he can if its just a lyrical exercise and not personal or whatever); shoot out a few verses; or actually commit if he was gonna invest time and effort into making a whole ass record. Lil B’s F*** Kd track may be being slept on a little bit. It was innovative because he started a beef with someone who has nothing to do with rapping. Then, the Warriors, Lil B’s hometown team as he’s from Berkeley, came back down 3-1 to KD’s Thunder to make the NBA Finals a year after the track. Then, KD came to the bay to join the Warriors and lifted the Lil B curse off of him and he won back-to-back Finals MVPs. When he left, the curse was reinstated and KDs career has been in shambles ever since. I say all that to say, who in rap has ever definitively won a rap beef against an athlete? I think he at minimum deserves to be in the B tier. (I’m only half joking)
It’s a pretty good track. It had good rebuttals and reinforced his massive claims but It simply didn’t have the energy it needed. Felt like a round 1 track.
Idk I thought it was a terrible song with him on the defense from start to beginning. Doesn’t sound like a beginning song. It just sounds rushed. It was a fire track but basically unlistenable because it was unavailable to listen to
Meet the grahams was a better diss. Starting the song with “dear Addonis, I’m sorry that man is your father”, proceeding to deconstruct every sin drake has committed while structuring it as a letter to drake’s family and parents, was fucking crazy
Pusha's voice and delivery in Adidon is so charismatic and menacing. His laughter at he end at "upset" and how he flowed that sick sick sick to six six six. Daaamn. Drake shoulda responded, so we could have gotten that surgical summer. Drake not putting up a fight has been depriving us from some good songs Pusha (and Kendrick) obviously both had in the tuck 😅😅
Lil B dropped one of the hardest disses of all time 15 minutes after being dissed, thats legendary on itself. If Budden was a more known artist at the time Lil B would have gone mainstream out of that track alone
That is one of the weakest lines in the track though. Especially since it can be flipped right back ten times harder in that nobody would ever know who Eazy E is without Dre's production AND Ice Cube's lyrics. Great song but I hate that that's the line most people think of when it's a really weak line

I’d say the pusha one is overrated. A lot of people don’t realize now that Drake having a kid had already been leaked for a while and since I already knew about it the big reveal just didn’t hit for me. Also randomly making fun of his friend having multiple sclerosis was corny af.
The best one imo, or def the most crazy one is def in quitter when he literally raps: "All right, so this is what we ask our fans, If you ever see Everlast, whoop his ass! Hit him with rocks, bricks, sticks, throw shit at him, Kick him, spit on him, treat him like a hoe, Bitch-slap him! Do it for me, do it for Fred, do it for Limp, do it for rock, do it rap, do it for kid, do it for Ice-T, do it just to do it, fuck it, He's a Bitch, he ain't gon' hit you back he's nothin' " And the like 20 seconds later doing a beat switch at recreating Tupacs" Hit 'em up" with the exact same cadence, flow and rhyme scheme as Pac, spot on, just with different lyrics of course. I think family matters had the making for a catchy song like back to back, the reason why family matters fell flat isn't so much drake's fault, its kendrick lamar, dude went supervillain fuckin genius shit dude and fuckin dropped the most scathing, scary, depressing mother fuckin song not even 30 minutes later. Kendrick made sure that family matter never got its time in the sun. how can you bop to family matters when you hearin "you lied" in the back of your head? all of the momentum that drake built up for family matters was instantly sucked away, suppressed and then redirected when he released not like us. 200iq shit. dont rap against kendrick ever.
Of the four Kendrick songs, it’s personally my least favorite. It’s not bad or anything, I just think that the other songs are so outstanding that they overshadow it
@@yahtforott4706 i just find diss songs hard to come back to, all of the kendrick ones have been really accessible besides meet the grahms. but i really like the lowkey vibe and sample of 6:16
meet the grahams to me would probably be the new standard now. not only was it a great defensive move -- dropping it not even an hour later than your opp and snuffing all the fire of your opps biggest weapon -- but it is also a massive attack in its own -- a slow, surgical, psychological profile of how broken your opp is as a person, how their family has failed them, how they are failing the generation that comes after them, and telling it straight to your opp that the rap battle is not even the biggest battle, it is life living as themselves. yiiiiiiiiikes
I truly hope it doesn't become a new standard, because I don't think anyone could do it nearly as well as Dot does. It would just come off as cringe imitation if anyone else tried.
It's hella surgical how it overshadows Family Matters using it's own strategy by using streamers hyping it up live. And the first line just totally hits everybody who knows the context of everything.
People talk about everything EXCEPT how utterly disrespectful it is to not only mention the man’s family but have a conversation with them telling them Drake is a weirdo. The genius in it is that if any of Drakes family mentioned in the song hears it it wouldn’t even feel like a “song” to them and again no one mentions that part. One of the most disrespectful line crossing disses ever
@@evanc.1591 i dont quite mean it would be the standard as in this is the format that new diss tracks need to follow, rather that this is the highest epitome of what a diss track can be -- the platonic ideal, if we want to get even more pretentious 😅

I feel like the F tier is reserved to "it's even AWFUL off-context". Which to be fair, the lyrics on that song alone like you mentioned could put it on that category, but it isn't as bad sonically I guess
@@peko3050 the “reveal” that drake implanted the info of the daughter and the photos Kenny got. I say that in quotes because there’s really no evidence that there is or isn’t a daughter and it’s very vague, but if true it’s pretty shocking.

@@javi__... very commercially successful fs but as diss songs Real MF G’s takes it. Much more memorable lines. “You only 60 pounds when ur wet and wearing boots” along with “All of a sudden Dr. Dre is the G thang but on his own album cover he was a she thang” (with photos to prove it). “… just an actor who mastered the bang and the slang” and “Never ever once have you ran with the turf But yet in every verse claim you used to do the dirt”. All of that with the fact that Dre owed Eazy a percentage of all his earning just gives it the edge for me
@@javi__... being successful is nice but it’s not the be all end all for disses. “Not like us” is a number 1 hit but the battle was won with “meet the grahams” and that song has no commercial appeal. Surprised to see the consistency of Eminem's diss tracks having that impact on people's rap careers. Would've liked to hear Fantano's opinion on the Mariah Carey diss from Eminem where he put the phone calls on the song. That and "Bully" are my favourite diss tracks sonically speaking.
It’s a good song but the problem is that no Vaseline decimated Eazy so badly that it doesn’t matter. Without no Vaseline it’s a b-tier song with it I agree with d-tier
Real he a clown for that, I am a massive Queensbridge Hip-Hop fan but BDP shammed and burnt down all of the boroughs legitimacy for years. You couldn't start a career as a rapper from Queens for ages without being brutally roasted.
I can only imagine Fantano saying "She-thang was discriminatory against Trans-Gangsta community", while others have excessive homophobia but they had very good careers, you know :). Lyrically praising Dre's diss while extremely scathing lyrics of "RMG"s is absurd. He talks over Eazy-E's lyricisim but doesn't even know Eazy-E's lyrics in the song were written by Dresta, a true G. The most likely reason he does this is that Dre's diss is his sweetheart especially because of production, which got destroyed by a much low quality. If Dre won purely by production it would make the hiphop scene like he would have dream of, which says a lot about how he actually looks at hiphop.
@@paperhats5201 Dre got destroyed by Eazy. Everybody knew it. Dre such a poser. Credits to him as a ex. producer. But no fucking with some real gangsters.
in my opinion, exodus 23:1 is the best diss track of all time simply because of the consequences, it can also be considered to the prelude to push & drake, kendrick & drake beef.
same Artist but the real beginning of that beef on wax was mr. me too where they dissed lil wayne for wearing bape. and even prior to that baby not paying the Neptunes for what happened to that boy
I mean by this point it's a cliche in every diss. That and calling someone's gangster into question, saying they took their wife, or making physical threats.
Fantano is much better at this kind of content than he is at album reviews imo. I appreciate his takes on new music, but I think his deep historical knowledge and context works much better for him in this type of video. He’s better at connecting and discussing larger trends and history around music than he is at analyzing individual pieces of music.
Especially coming from the guy who's repeatedly been called out for being a culture vulture and ESPECIALLY against Kendrick Lamar. To me, it's the absolute dumbest move Drake made in the entire beef
You are comparing an individual song to an entire artist. That isn't how this works. If you think it does, then that would explain the confusion of his placement. If you think that specific track by Eazy-E is a better diss track when considering context and skill overall, you're operating entirely on nostalgia. I say this as someone who thinks Eazy-E holds a superior place in hip-hop history.

he did warn us tbf. we can't be too hard on him
Wasnt even 7 minutes
the biggest thing is that he didnt even need to do that -- Kendrick was obv gunning for Drake, and since Cole was standing next to him, he could get some too. the best thing Cole could have done was not to respond; respond with what he said at Dreamville (basically that he doesnt wanna do it like that, be he can if its just a lyrical exercise and not personal or whatever); shoot out a few verses; or actually commit if he was gonna invest time and effort into making a whole ass record. I know people are rewritting history of Cole's decision nowadays, but to me this whole mess is still forever going to remove him from the conversation of top/best rapper (that i personally dont think he ever deserved to be on anyway)

Having Nicki’s “Stupid Hoe” rank higher than Eazy E’s “Real Mf G’s” and Mobb Deep’s “Drop A Gem On Em” is certainly one of the takes of all time
That's insane. Stupid Hoe is one of the worst diss track of all time. Nicki knows how to sneak diss but she can't make diss tracks
Especially when his reasoning for putting Eazy so low was how the song sounded sonically.
(this is pre watching the video) I’m not super familiar with the other two, but stupid hoe is an amazing song, one of nicki minaj’s best, it’s super underrated.
@@rainbowkittycat627 it’s classic hip hop and has a bunch of history behind the two tracks. Stupid Hoe is a polarizing song that could be targeted at any female artist and has zero wordplay, it’s just a troll track with no shelf life at all.

-Joe Budden dissed Lil B on Twitter, and LESS THAN AN HOUR LATER Lil B dropped the link for “T-Shirt and Buddens” legendary!!
-Shether got a copyright strike and wiped from the internet basically immediately because it used the original Ether beat, and Nas was probably taking it down cause he sided with Nicki (I think they were label mates?) Most people heard the shether track anyway it doesn’t take away the impact just because it was taken down
Meet the grahams was a better diss. Starting the song with “dear Addonis, I’m sorry that man is your father”, proceeding to deconstruct every sin drake has committed while structuring it as a letter to drake’s family and parents, was fucking crazy

meet the grahams to me would probably be the new standard now. not only was it a great defensive move -- dropping it not even an hour later than your opp and snuffing all the fire of your opps biggest weapon -- but it is also a massive attack in its own -- a slow, surgical, psychological profile of how broken your opp is as a person, how their family has failed them, how they are failing the generation that comes after them, and telling it straight to your opp that the rap battle is not even the biggest battle, it is life living as themselves. yiiiiiiiiikes

I do want to say, if you do listen to rap devil, it holds sort of true. Killshot is leagues better but still.
in my opinion, exodus 23:1 is the best diss track of all time simply because of the consequences, it can also be considered to the prelude to push & drake, kendrick & drake beef.
ive never heard of that, a lil backstory?
you really could trace it all back to birdman not paying neptunes for the what happened to that boy beat
Oh shoot that would be crazy if someone can tie it that far back
@@coldloner7453the whole issue actually goes back to the early 200s when Birdman didn’t pay Clipse and the Neptunes for What Happened To That Boy
same Artist but the real beginning of that beef on wax was mr. me too where they dissed lil wayne for wearing bape. and even prior to that baby not paying the Neptunes for what happened to that boy
Putting Dre Day ahead of Real Muthaphuckkin’ G’s is crazy
The way he started calling Meet the Grahams demented and sadistic absolutely sent me.
Also Toast
Putting Nicki Minaj above Easy E is criminal.. Need to swap those 2 diss's around.
Ja calling Eminem gay is hilarious
I mean by this point it's a cliche in every diss. That and calling someone's gangster into question, saying they took their wife, or making physical threats.
It would be funny if Ja wasn’t doing it cause he was also homophobic at the time
Even Eminem calls Eminem gay lol
Euphoria is S Tier. If you didn't want three from Kendrick in the S tier, I'd move one of the other two down to A.
Great list.
Everytime Drake sees his mom sitting down, he probably gonna think about Meet the Grahams, if he hasn't already. 😂😂😂😂😂
That shit was ass let’s be honest
Meet The Grahams is the most evil track I heard since Dance With The Devil.

Fantano is much better at this kind of content than he is at album reviews imo. I appreciate his takes on new music, but I think his deep historical knowledge and context works much better for him in this type of video. He’s better at connecting and discussing larger trends and history around music than he is at analyzing individual pieces of music.
Agree with that
I don't think Taylor Made was a smart idea at all, who in their right mind is gonna take clearly fake AI vocals seriously?
Yeah it just gave Kendrick and Drake haters more ammo. Drake tries to be super calculated but he’s just a moron
Especially coming from the guy who's repeatedly been called out for being a culture vulture and ESPECIALLY against Kendrick Lamar. To me, it's the absolute dumbest move Drake made in the entire beef
Rap Devil above Eazy-E is a shambles.
Hes not saying MGK is a better rapper.
@@TheLethalDomainPlease tell me how a song that literally starts off with "beard weird" is better than E's track? Also not to forget how lame the entire track is? Oh i get it you're operating purely off of recency bias. See how flawed that logic is?
Forgot to cover the 100 Taylor swift ex boyfriend diss tracks smh smh
Real Muthaphukkin G’s being in D tier is one of the most trash takes I’ve ever heard about anything
and Super Ugly in A-tier is comical, and Im a big Jayz fan. The Blueprint2 diss he did should've been ranked, and that diss was far better than Super Ugly.
Eazy E being D Tier is blasphemous
Yeah... It's easy a E

I’m sad melon didn’t review peggy’s “I Cannot Fucking Wait Until Morrissey Dies”
im sad he didn't do rebound
that song was my first introduction to jpegmafia, its so good
I hate to be THAT guy but Pusha T's Exodus 23:1 is legit a hall of famer. Beat, Biggie's laugh, predicting the Wayne-Birdman drama, flow, video visuals. Perfect.
S tier fasho
Having Bigfoot but not Hiss? I feel like it deserves a moment
is this fantano's longest video that isn't an interview
Idk
Been watching him since 2010 and this is his longest video I can think of
The Corey Feldman “review” is close, certainly felt longer
The logic interview is an hour and 47 minutes
@@JuanMercado-hg6bo "...that isn't an interview"
Yuno Miles not at S tier really shows you dont know music
fr yuno miles the goat
Kind of shows that you don't since music is subjective and he's allowed to put them wherever he wants.

I thought it was weird that Melon spent the entire video praising and dissecting Hopsin’s diss track for Damien Ritter, Ill Mind of Hopsin 8. Like, I get that he’s a big Hopsin fan but there are definitely other diss tracks he could have covered
What he hopsin?
Even though the list was full of eminem tracks, I did miss the situation with mariah carey. The way he uses the embarrassing things he's done as a weapon against her is truly something i haven't seen among the rap industry

"Muthafk Dre/ Muthafk Snoop/ Muthafk Death Row/ Yo, and here comes my left blow"

WHY EVERYBODY DOESNT GIVE A SHIT TO 6:16 IN LA??? 😭😭

My favorite of the disses tbh. It's the "quadruple entendre" song that Drake was begging for on Taylor Made.
I was just about to say that. It's underrated asf.
i think the fact that it's not on streaming kind of prevents people from listening to it the same way as the other three tracks. but yeah, it's a pretty essential supplement to euphoria.

thank you for giving meet the grahams a top tier rating... when all this beef was going on and then that track came out, I felt it was immediately looked passed by everyone but I could not get over how fucked up and brutal that track was. I think that shit really fucked drake up. Not like us was the nail in the coffin but meet the grahams was fucking demonic.
You really put MGK's "Rap Devil" over Eazy's "Real Muthaphuckkin Gs"? Are you kidding me?
I swear this guy is just delusional
@@AinnRubiix It gets worse. By chance I ended up finding Fantano's track review of Killshot from 5 years ago and he says MGK is "dog doo doo" not worth Em's time, and "kinda boring, kinda bland". That sounds much worse than a C tier
