    Just got back from Earth Angel Mushrooms. T.R. is a wonderful teacher. One more thing about shiitake mushrooms, T.R. sprays them down with a medium spray from a hose ( not a mister) for a few days while the pins are small. I won't be able to do this with my small grow, but when I move to my permanent location, I'll have drains. New growers, be sure to install drains!

    Hey jewell. Great video. Me personally I enjoy doing all the lab work myself. I know you’re on a larger scale and maybe don’t have the time to do the lab work. Just ignore all the trolls who say u don’t know your friend TR lol. Keep doing your thing girl!! Mushlove!! -Gee

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Myco Toads Thanks yo!!! Man, I LOVE the lab work but what’s actually happening now is that I’m moving the grow on Tuesday so I’ve been slowing down with everything going on with that PLUS I sold both my sterilizers so I literally don’t have the ability to make substrate until after the move when I setup my new sterilization system. I still have customers and need income for that big ass rent payment coming up so I bought some more blocks.

    Hi Jewell! Great work and thank you for sharing. I was wondering how many of the Oyster blocks can you put in a 10X10 fruiting room? Thanks again..

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Patrick Champoux Heyyyyy Patrick! So let’s see...it obviously depends on how high and how many shelves you have in there but my 10x10 can fit about 160 or so blocks? Maybe 180

    So these are the blocks.... I’m interested and buying straight spawn. Do you generally do 1 cup of spawn per 10 lb block?

  • @andrewbrock4636

    how viable is it to operate a very small operation using sourced blocks like this, at least to start? seems like there would be some savings on cap ex.

    Wakanda Forever! I may have missed it, but how many blocks was that particular order so that I can eyeball the amount of space needed. Thanks again. You're the Best.

      busyrand Wakanda forever baby!!!! So that there was 100 blocks (10 10lb blocks per box) so 1000 lbs to move straight away 😬

      Yo.... Real talk... Your videos are giving me the confidence to actually take action on this stuff as soon as I'm fiscally able to. Can you let me know a good source for these blocks or if I'm doing an internet search, should I be looking under another word? I seem to only find kits. I emailed Earth Angel, and haven't heard back. Their website is "under construction." I'm on the west coast so if you know a west coast supplier, I would love their name.

    What do you do with the shataki block that you removed the bag from, I thought you fruited the mushroom in the bag and then harvested the mushroom?

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope shiitake get fruited outside of the bag unlike oysters and other shrooms

    on your shiitake after first flush are soaking the blocks for another flushing like normally

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Graham I do one and done on shiitake because I grow so many, so I’m not positive on that second flush process honestly

    How much total cost was the order? And how much profit would you make selling to restaurants? If you don't mind me asking. I have a 40x8x8 shipping container I'd like to fruit in any thing special I need to do other than add lights and ventilation? Just getting started with my mushroom business here in Washington state. Thank you in advance love your videos they have been a great help for me getting started so thank also for that. Cheers!

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tyson B let’s see including shipping it was around $1k. Make 200 lbs charge $10/lb so that nets you a positive $10. So for any vessel you’ll need light, humidification, intake and exhaust. Throw in floor drains and you’re set!

      Also you will need to create the proper temps depending on your climate. Too cold and they won't grow properly. Too hot and certain strains won't pin.
