Eric Mortensen GM’s make up 0.3% of FIDE registered users, and FIDE is probably less than 1% of hobby level or higher chess players. (Let’s not count people who barely know how to move the pieces, less than 1% would be true but still way off)

Watching him in real time, hearing him break balls and also give new players credit on good moves, interesting ideas for development and lots of encouragement from time to time is nice. Magnus, can you do a short explanation at the end of each video why someone resigned? I’m not a chess player and it’s not obvious to me why he resigned. I do love watching chess videos though. Lol.

My guess, as someone with shit knowledge, is that he didn't resign because he was about to be immediately crushed.
Rather, L was behind a pawn, behind on positioning (including doubled pawns), and majorly behind on time.
The variables were cut down to where there is little he could sneak out to one up the world champion in any area.
He resigned because the match was effectively over, in M's favor.

*behind a pawn, and about to lose another.

    • @Sele1908

He was down a pawn, his pawn structure was damaged, his major pieces (rooks) were stuck in terrible positions having to defend their respective pawns with no synergy between them and no actual way to cause threats, while Magnus' were connected and ready to attack every hanging piece. For a new players those factors may look not that important but in top level play a position like that is practically dead lost.
