MERCEDES VARIO ELECTRICS | 24V to 12V Dropper Install | VICTRON CAMPER SYSTEM | Van Build Ep27

- We're gonna rock down to ELECTRIC AVENUE!! Or at least get somewhere near it! This week we finally get to start our leisure electrics, and it turns out, it's not all about running cable. We have to build an extra shelf, design a head unit and get our head around our front and rear systems!
We have installed our stereo head unit as well as additional speakers above the seating area. We have wired in switches to: mute the reversing buzzer, turn on the reversing camera without being in reverse, turn on our site amber lights, turn on our roof rack lighting (which doesn't exist yet!) and turn on they system which allows us to heat our hot water from our engine coolant system... all within easy reach of the driver's seat! We then moved onto the start of our leisure system starting at the back of our van running all of the cables to our 12V and 24V appliances such as our LED Lighting, USB outlets, Cigarette Sockets and many, many switches!
We bought all our main electrical components from BSPK Solar - give Chris a shout, he's a lovely guy!

Thanks so much Josie! And we are getting better at working with each other 😂 💖 xx
Glad you’re back on, the Memsahib and me were getting withdrawal symptoms 😊 !
Back to the van, I think you’re doing a Bloody Fantastic job of it, no problem!!
Thank you Albert! It was nice having some time off but it’s been great getting back to it! Not too long to go now...
Well done Max and Sophie :) I must admit I'm more than a little nervous about the electric phase of our build and will be watching and rewatching your vids before I start. Thank you!
Thank you Scot! Max has some electrical skills from work but we were pretty new to it all and did exactly that, low of TH-cam videos were watched! Let us know if you have any questions! 😊👍
We’ve definitely spent hours reading product manuals and watching TH-cam to pick up tips on what to do! Give us a shout if there is anything we can do for either of you! 😊👍
woohoo electrics 😂😂 That is what our week is consisting of too!!
My brain is definitely melting! It’s a good job Max has a better idea than me 😂
Good luck with yours, we’re so jealous of your lovely square van!
hi
you can take a picture of the electrical components or make a sketch and write what the different fuses / cables are for, print it out on a sheet of paper and laminate it and place it next to it. then it is easier afterwards to see what is what particular in a stressful situation, since marking directly on the fuse holders will be difficult to read "location" without taking much out of the cabinet and using a flashlight. I would think that a laminated sheet would simplify this, maybe both solutions.
Anyway it makes sense to document everything you assemble as well as item description so you easily can take out a ring-binder for and diagnose a problem.
That is such a fantastic idea with so much detail, thank you so much Vidar! We we definitely be doing this! 😊👍
👍 Danke fürs Hochladen!
👍 Thanks for uploading!
👍 Very good and beautiful, thank you!
Thank you so much guys! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊👍
You two are so lucky to have each other you work so well together.
Thank you so much, and I think we make a pretty good team! 😊👍
Brilliant job, the van is coming on nicely 😁
Thank you so much! It feels like it’s coming together now!
Hi from China. Love the work you have done. Excellent job.
Hia John, thank you so much, glad you have enjoyed it! 😊👍
I envy you having a 24v system.
It’s so useful Aurel! We love it 😊👍
Great job again both its coming on now 👍😏 going to look beautiful all done 🥂
I honestly can’t wait to see it all finished - it’s been a long time coming but I can feel it all coming together now! X
Lovely couple great video really nice work pal 👍👍
Thank you! It’s been a learning curve working together but we’re really enjoying it!
Hi, max your wiring knowledge and standards are impeccable 👌 you should be very proud of what you have achieved 👏 shopie you also should equally be as proud of what you are achieving, like you said you had never done anything like this until you purchased the van.
Best wishes to you both....stay safe 🙏
Thank you so much Kevin! And we both really are proud of what we have created! You too 😊👍
Clearly into an area that you are comfortable with.... smiles are getting bigger by the day! Friends are most definitely electric ⚡️ 😎👍✅
We sure are! And thanks so much Andrew! Feels like we are making good progress now! 😊👍⚡️
Top work as usual both. That’s a lot of cable. Might have to tap you up on where you got all that (I know you’re boss at finding a good deal). Neat idea having multiple fuse boxes too. Well done on that cupboard Sophie; posh pants storage activate
Thank you so much guys! And totally! She’s super proud of that cupboard 😂
Lovely seeing you two, making Sunday’s even more enjoyable 😊
Thank you so much Tom! 😊👍
Super Dooper ....well done you guys 👌.....get your shoes off the bed 😁😁
Thanks so much Tommo! And we’ve both upgraded to flip flops now 😂👍
Nice channel is this! I just bought a Vario 616D '08 ex German ambulance to convert it into a camper.
I get a lot of inspiration from your videos :), and I watched them all last week.
I have the shortest version, so the layout will be slightly different.
Greetings, Geert Bekkering from the Netherlands.
Thank you so much Geert! That’s so exciting to hear, I bet it looks really nice! Hopefully we will meet on the road one day! 😊👍
Great work both! 😍😎👍🏼
Thank you so much Ian! 😊👍
Absolutely brilliant 🥂🥂
Thank you so much Tony! 😊👍
Weer knap werk hoor
Thank you so much Karel and Wella! 😊👍
Great video guys! Its really coming along well now! Ive still got our electrics to finalise but you have deffo made me change my mind using the black flexible conduit to using this office style trunking!
Thank you so much! And we are really happy with how neat it all looks! 😊👍
As for your bathroom switch you could just turn metal box around so switch is on outside and may make whatever your doing on inside walls easier as won't have to cut around switch if you get what I mean
Thanks Andy, that makes complete sense! We are trying to work out our best options with it! 😊👍
Well done you two, proper job. I’m beginning to think you’ve thought of everything..even the extra cables for future installations. Bet you can’t wait for the maiden voyage.
Thank you so much Simon! And we are really trying to! And you got it, we really can’t wait! 😊👍
Excellent! Good progress on the wiring system. I would have a switch to turn off the USB sockets when not in use
Thank you so much guys! And great tip, we’ll have a look into adding that before we get too far into it! 😊👍
Hello are your switches water proof in the bathroom, just a thought
They are Ray but great spot! 😊👍
Should the shower room light switch have been outside as in domestic builds
We did think about that but it’s only 24v and in the opposite end than the shower so should be okay! 👍😊
@@MaxSophieinaVan 24V can be fatal, but you have to be both wet and very unlucky indeed. Resistance from hand to hand, wet, is about 1 kilohm, so 24V can push about 25mA through you, which is just above what's required through the heart to do nasty things.
It’s actually only 12v in that bathroom switch but I know that’s not the point! It’s a switch with a watertight seal so should be all good! I’ll look into what you’ve mentioned, sounds like some interesting maths! 😊👍
