One thing I am interested in, is knowing whether there is a noticeable patch switching delay, which is very important to me. To be honest Leo, I come here just to listen to you play Shred with emotion and feel, excellent. You could make a piece of string tied to a tin can sound awesome.
Worth noting, the Pitch Shifter has an annoying warble when downtuning clean amp models, but not noticable with overdrive. The GX sounds best when blending two amps with different IRs, preferably one being a 3rd party IR as youve demonstrated. Well done!
Fantastico ! Great review and playing Leo. Just so you are aware the looper can record in Stereo (up to 19 seconds). You can switch between Mono and Stereo Looper modes in the "Play Option" menu (it's a global setting). Strange that Boss placed the option here, as most manufacturers have it as a parameter on the actual looper block itself. Ciao
Got my GX-100 on Saturday. So far so good. I'm using it as a floor FX unit with my main tone coming from my amp so it is important to me that it is as transparent as possible when bypassed. What I wanted was true bypass, but that doesn't seem to exist these days so I checked it with the cleanest signal path possible. It makes a minor difference to the tone compared to when the unit is not in the signal chain at all, but I'm extra sensitive to it because I have been using the amp for a long time. Anyway, it doesn't colour the tone worse than any other unit. I just wish they would include a true bypass.

I would consider making a video about the effects how close they are compare to the physical Boss pedals in terms of sound and also functionality / setting possibilities….are separate Boss pedals better / more functional or is the multieffect covering them in full? Hi Leo, how are you? Congratulations on your video, very clear and detailed. I would like to suggest testing the Boss GX-100 connected to a tube amp, that is, without amp simulation, and verifying the behaviour of the effects and especially the overdrives and distortions. I have a Boss GT-1 pedalboard and I'm thinking about buying the GX-100. I find the GT-1's overdrives and distortions very dirty and difficult to equalize. So I think with the GX-100's IR's, I might have better luck in adjusting the effects. Sometimes I play with my amp, a Bugera Vintage 55, and sometimes I plug it straight into the table. Thanks again for the videos.

Great overview. As always, even if no XLR, I'm assuming the 1/4" outputs are not balanced. A negative, but I also think the Boss tones hold up to anything the other guys are doing.

Hi Leo , thank you a lot for your demonstration. Sad you don't talk about for live use . I bought it , but no one talk about how to use it well for live use. I have a problem with my volume , my Eq , and I use a marshall DSl with ( and 4 cable method) . But there is no information about how to use it well with my stuff. I taught I could save time when I bought it , but I'm loosing lot of time to find the good presets, manage volume etc... Do you have any tips , a video which could help people?

@@LeoGibsonGtr Apperò..la chitarra accordata in Eb l'ho provata una volta, quando studiavo Van Halen (poi smisi perché...perché.. è un casino!). Mi ricordo che il suono distorto ne guadagnava in rotondità e corposità...ma suonando con altri strumentisti sono ritornato ad usare una chitarra con accordatura standard..ma è un mio capriccio farmi una chitarra da rock e lasciarla in eb per rifare quei tanti brani rock accordati così. La 175 dipende. Quando suono con altri torna normale, quando registro a casa è in Eb...perchè ho anche il basso in Eb. Comunque la 175 non ha problemi, perchè tiene bene l'accordatura...le basta poco per adattarsi. Grazie

Ma perché Boss non utilizza la funzione scena/snapshot. In nessuna delle sue macchine viene implementata questa funzione che è utilissima in Fractal e in Helix. Magari suggerisci in Boss

Hello, as a guitarist and sound technician, I will answer: stereo? to do what ? If it is SOLELY for the "sound comfort" of the guitarist, or for very very specific musical projects, the stereo is absolutely not useful in live. Think about your audience, (it's for them that you play, right?) the people placed on one side of the stage will only hear half of your stereo effects. Much better to play in mono. On the other hand, if you arrive for example on an open stage with several groups and that the guitarist requires a stereo output, you are not going to make friends with the technical staff, they generally already have only one amp per guitarist. or (only one) di-box. Concerning the fact that the gx100 does not have XLR outputs, therefore balanced, you can make jack-> male XLR cables by connecting the cold point and the ground on the jack side and leaving the standard wiring (1-ground, 2 cold point, 3 hot point) XLR side. It's not "real" balanced wiring but it already eliminates a lot of problems and it works perfectly well unless you have to have say 100 meters of cable between the device and the console. For 10 or 20 meters it works very well.

Hi Brent, I would put first in the chain, before everything, so it actually acts like a guitar volume, and you can balance the amount of volume going into the amp, thus also cleaning up and breaking up the front end of the amp. Thank you for your question!

Hi Leo… thanks for you video…I think the dynamics and structure of your videos have always seemed to me the right one... and the best of all the youtube songs... I think it's already expired... and all the target audience (very small market) of these teams already we are clear that fractal and kemper... is the best and most professional that exists... the other solutions only give improvements and solutions to the user interface... but I think that the test of the real AMP vs the emulator does not It makes sense... understanding that we all know who always wins... Regarding portability, I don't think there is a better solution on the market to go on a small tour or on vacation like the GT1000 core, which has no limits, totally reliable and only 600 USD.....is there anyone who knows other hardware that you can put in your pocket and play at big festivals or at home (of course with the endless features and capabilities that GT1000 core has)??? It doesn't exist...the closest thing is hx stomp that, although it is a reliable unit, is not even 1/4 as powerful as the gt1000core.
Hi George, thank you for sharing your opinions and experience and I'm happy that you like the videos. Of course each unit has his peculiarity in terms of functions offered, I/O and effect chain. Let me just add that I still don't think that they all sound the same. I mean you have some unit which is pretty good in recreating the JCM 800 vibe (for instance the MG 30), other unit which has a very good Soldano (for instance the Ampero Stomp), or other with which you can get a specific Strat solo sounds that I like a lot (for instance with this GX 100 I was able to get a tone for the solo that I really like a lot)...Obviously these are simple my 2 cents... Thank you!

Hi Francesco, I would say that you can connect the modeller in front of the amp, removing from the amp the amp and cab blocks. furthermore you are gonna have the time effects before the amp and distortion...that is not ideal.
Hi, unfortunately I don't have the GR 55, therefore I can't answer from direct experience. I would say that for pure amp tone, the GX 100 should be better. Thank you!
With boss eventho i can 90% nail the sound. The feel were just off. It's not reactive enough for me. I'm pretty anal about picking touch sensitivity. Live tho its certainly clearer then most other big brand modeller.

Great review as always. Does anyone know if it has a polyphonic pitch shifter included? Is it any good? By "any good" I mean comparable to Digitech Drop or EHX Pitchfork.

Hello Leo and thanks for this great review (as usual), just a simple question: I did not find any information about using scenes with this GX-100… is it possible ? If yes, I suppose we can assign the 1 to 4 footswitches to 4 scenes?

Hi Leo , thank you a lot for your demonstration. Sad you don't talk about for live use . I bought it , but no one talk about how to use it well for live use. I have a problem with my volume , my Eq , and I use a marshall DSl with ( and 4 cable method) . But there is no information about how to use it well with my stuff.
I taught I could save time when I bought it , but I'm loosing lot of time to find the good presets, manage volume etc... Do you have any tips , a video which could help people?

Sono due macchine della stessa fascia di prezzo attualmente,.tenendo presente che la boss in più supporta routing in parallelo grazie al modulo DIV che divide la catena in due,in grado poi di miscelare i due percorsi.Ho visto il precedente confronto tra la mooer ge300 e la boss gt1000, ma sono due macchine di fascia di prezzo diverse,ciao e grazie per le tue recensioni
Ciao, si è sicuramente un confronto interessante...credo di realizzare il video dedicato....ma mi serve tempo...questi video confronti sono molto dispendiosi in termini di tempo ed energie e ogni tanto ho bisogno di staccare e fare cose diverse...comunque avevo fatto un poll per chiedere alla community quali video confronti fare ed in pole position c'è il confronto con il pod go...poi farà gli altri.

@@LeoGibsonGtr Apperò..la chitarra accordata in Eb l'ho provata una volta, quando studiavo Van Halen (poi smisi perché...perché.. è un casino!). Mi ricordo che il suono distorto ne guadagnava in rotondità e corposità...ma suonando con altri strumentisti sono ritornato ad usare una chitarra con accordatura standard..ma è un mio capriccio farmi una chitarra da rock e lasciarla in eb per rifare quei tanti brani rock accordati così. La 175 dipende. Quando suono con altri torna normale, quando registro a casa è in Eb...perchè ho anche il basso in Eb. Comunque la 175 non ha problemi, perchè tiene bene l'accordatura...le basta poco per adattarsi. Grazie

Ma perché Boss non utilizza la funzione scena/snapshot. In nessuna delle sue macchine viene implementata questa funzione che è utilissima in Fractal e in Helix. Magari suggerisci in Boss

Hello, as a guitarist and sound technician, I will answer: stereo? to do what ? If it is SOLELY for the "sound comfort" of the guitarist, or for very very specific musical projects, the stereo is absolutely not useful in live. Think about your audience, (it's for them that you play, right?) the people placed on one side of the stage will only hear half of your stereo effects. Much better to play in mono. On the other hand, if you arrive for example on an open stage with several groups and that the guitarist requires a stereo output, you are not going to make friends with the technical staff, they generally already have only one amp per guitarist. or (only one) di-box. Concerning the fact that the gx100 does not have XLR outputs, therefore balanced, you can make jack-> male XLR cables by connecting the cold point and the ground on the jack side and leaving the standard wiring (1-ground, 2 cold point, 3 hot point) XLR side. It's not "real" balanced wiring but it already eliminates a lot of problems and it works perfectly well unless you have to have say 100 meters of cable between the device and the console. For 10 or 20 meters it works very well.

Considerando che gli effetti sono della Boss non dovevano nemmeno pagare royalties per le immagini... hai magari ripensato alla pedaliera della Harley Benton? Io sto aspettando la tua review o quella di Stefano Rossi, ma sono orientato a quella.

Hi Brent, I would put first in the chain, before everything, so it actually acts like a guitar volume, and you can balance the amount of volume going into the amp, thus also cleaning up and breaking up the front end of the amp.

Nowadays amp modelling pedalboards are very good and totally usable also in order to record an album

Hi Leo… thanks for you video…I think the dynamics and structure of your videos have always seemed to me the right one... and the best of all the youtube songs... I think it's already expired... and all the target audience (very small market) of these teams already we are clear that fractal and kemper... is the best and most professional that exists... the other solutions only give improvements and solutions to the user interface... but I think that the test of the real AMP vs the emulator does not It makes sense... understanding that we all know who always wins... Regarding portability, I don't think there is a better solution on the market to go on a small tour or on vacation like the GT1000 core, which has no limits, totally reliable and only 600 USD.....is there anyone who knows other hardware that you can put in your pocket and play at big festivals or at home (of course with the endless features and capabilities that GT1000 core has)??? It doesn't exist...the closest thing is hx stomp that, although it is a reliable unit, is not even 1/4 as powerful as the gt1000core.
Hi George, thank you for sharing your opinions and experience and I'm happy that you like the videos. Of course each unit has his peculiarity in terms of functions offered, I/O and effect chain. Let me just add that I still don't think that they all sound the same. I mean you have some unit which is pretty good in recreating the JCM 800 vibe (for instance the MG 30), other unit which has a very good Soldano (for instance the Ampero Stomp), or other with which you can get a specific Strat solo sounds that I like a lot (for instance with this GX 100 I was able to get a tone for the solo that I really like a lot)...Obviously these are simple my 2 cents...

Hi Francesco, I would say that you can connect the modeller in front of the amp, removing from the amp the amp and cab blocks. furthermore you are gonna have the time effects before the amp and distortion...that is not ideal.

With boss eventho i can 90% nail the sound. The feel were just off. It's not reactive enough for me. I'm pretty anal about picking touch sensitivity.
Live tho its certainly clearer then most other big brand modeller.
