I had sent Double Dare, CIB, to the Game Grumps back in 2014. I got it for them after they mentioned the show in the first part of their Silent Hill: Shatered Memories let's play back in 2013. Glad to see that they at least enjoyed it.

Fun fact about the term "Donnybrook"
Donnybrook is an area in Dublin where, right up from the medieval times to the 20th century, there was this massive fair where people from all over the country would get together, sell their goods, and get plastered drunk.
The fair was eventually banned because of the unsavoury activities that went on, especially the drinking and the massive bare-knuckle brawls that would enevitably break out.
Now Donnybrook Fair is this fancy-ass grocery chain in Dublin.

They had a game show called Brainstorm or something five or so years ago. They would slime the winner, that's the most recent time I remember them using it.
FoneyBone1 It was called BrainSurge and it was cancelled in 2011.
Now Nickelodeon only HIRES slime, then cancels their shows when they get pregnant or arrested with drugs.

I used to love this game so much as a kid, too. So I was excited to see how they'd do on the Obstacle Course, impressed Arin figured it out as fast as he did. I thought they'd have a lot of trouble with that.
Best I've ever done on this game was reaching the 7th obstacle, I don't know how anybody could ever finish the whole thing though. I tried for years and could never do it.
No joke, I watched a bunch of Double Dare a few months ago after getting the Nick Game Shows DVD. The show still holds up very, very well. I even put the theme in my MP3 Player. Oh, that electric guitar goodness.

Fun fact.... I actually met Marc Summers and had my picture taken with him at Universal Studios in California during June of 1991.

He was! He obligingly took the photo with me. I'm going to hypothesize that he was there possibly to pitch his new Nickelodeon show "What Would You Do?" which hit the air the next year. However, I have no evidence to support this.

I remember watching Double Dare 2000 a lot on Nickelodeon! Those old original game shows on Nick were awesome.
I kinda would want them to play creepy games because hearing their screams is kinda fun and makes watching a scary game much more pleasant as i am a big wuss whose only horror experiences come from bram stoker's dracula and edgar allan poe.

Ah yes, the return of NES game show games!
Oh man, this made me want to watch actual Double Dare so much. I remember playing this as a kid and thinking it was no substitute. That show was amazing. It got you so hyped up about utter nonsense. "You have sixty seconds to throw these pie ingredients across the room into your teammate's wide pants, then they have to use the hula hoop in the waistband to create a pie smoothie! Then you have to pull the chain to dump slime on top!" And then they'd always just go back and calmly answer trivia. It was surreal.
I think what was unusual about Double Dare is that there wasn't really a theme. Like, Nickelodeon Guts had a sort of sports arena theme, Nick Arcade was, well, an arcade, Legends of the Hidden Temple had a jungle temple vibe going on, but Double Dare was just the stripped down basics of what Nickelodeon game shows were all about. I like that.

I love how Dan mentioned Mallrats. I work in the mall where they filmed Mallrats, and Kevin Smith was here recently just walking around and streaming the whole thing on Facebook.
I used to and still sometimes find myself playing this game because my NES has only a few games where I actually like playing them. This just makes me laugh every time.
