Fun Fact about this game!
The company that made it, 'TENGEN', was actually Atari. Back in the NES days, Nintendo had extremely strict licensing rules that made it almost impossible for companies who made NES games to make games for any other console. Atari didn't like this at all, and made a second company called TENGEN to make NES games that were not licensed or authorised by Nintendo.
Though Nintendo eventually won the lawsuits about this, TENGEN successfully pushed back against Nintendo's draconic rules, and forced them to be more lenient with their rules of game distribution.
If not for TENGEN, the video game industry would very well be monopolised by Nintendo, and most of our favourite modern games would have never come to be.

A buddy of mine refurbished a Tournament Cyberball 2072 arcade cabinet. It's pretty fun to play mini 2v2 tournaments on it. The cabinet has mirrors so the players can try to psyche each other out.

I understand Arin doesnt know sports. But to NOT know what a time out means, well,....
I always THOUGHT I knew what a timeout was but in the context of this game I had no idea what it was. They just got to stop the time whenever they picked formations? What? Why didn't they just do that all the time? I think I'm with Arin on this one and I actually have no clue what a timeout is
Timeouts are used to stop the game clock. That's all. Most games of football end very close and when the clock is running out of time and you're losing, you need those extra seconds that timeouts will end up giving you. In actual football, timeouts can be used much more strategically for other reasons, such as coming up with a perfect coverage to stop a super important play. This game is verryyyy primitive so timeouts literally just stop the clock. Dan was purposely stopping the clock for Arin so that Arin could maybe score again and be happy... but I think secretly Dan knew it NONE OF IT MATTERS. Danny was way ahead in terms of understanding and execution. Him helping Arin was never to going to lead to Arin winning.

The point is that "the weeb" is defined by their idolization of Japanese culture, convinced it's the most perfect, unassailable, and superior culture on the planet. If it's from Japan, then it's automatically the best thing ever. They wouldn't know that Japan enjoys American football and baseball because they refuse to let themselves see anything but their warped perception of Japanese culture. I mean, most of them don't even know that the anime style originated from Betty Boop, which was an American cartoon. They surround themselves in a medium inspired by an old American cartoon, convinced it's a "Japan original and therefor obviously superior."
The Japanese have a term for people like this in their own country. They're called Otaku, and they're pretty much universally frowned upon if not despised. The sheer level of fanaticism of Otakus and Weeaboos is rivaled only by the Sonic fanbase, and that's saying something.
Seeing Arin do well in football games without almost any understanding how they work and seeing Dan get mad is always glorious

It's both. We're not doing this. Football is short for Association Football. Soccer is short for Association Football. Both terms originate in the UK (specifically in English public schools where slang of the time meant that Rugby Football was "Rugger" and Association Football was "Soccer". Americans use Soccer to differentiate from American Football. Both are equally correct.
