Es gibt noch Berlin,Wien,Leipzig, München, Hamburg und noch etwa 20 bis 30 sehr gute Orchester in Österreich und Deutschland...selbst in meiner Heimatstadt Hannover sitzt eine sehr gute Brass - Sektion und zwar in beiden grossen Orchestern (Radiophilharmonie und Staatsoper)...also immer vorsichtig mit "Best ever"😉
@@dudeforcaster8630 blame the conductor, who calls the shots. herseth said that this guy liked "a loud band". to hear the cso brass section not too loud, not blaring, and with finesse to spare, listen to the reiner wagner recordings.

It's always about the brass!!! This is a brilliant concert and the Vinyl LP in Decca's Full Frequency Sterephonic Sound - which I've had since it first came out - is just stunning, as is the CD transfer. The horns in the Die Meistersinger Prelude are just phenomenal! Have these masterpieces by Wagner ever sounded better? Thanks for posting this!

Back in the day the CSO/Solti were at the TOP...not so much now...the string players, these days, look like they are polishing their shoes instead of playing their hearts out with the amount of bow....
I take the two points, but polish your glasses my friend. I can a few women in this orchestra. Two delightful (X,X) players are visible at 49:02. One in the second violins, the other a faluatist in the woodwinds. Still, they truly constitute only a few female faces amidst a veritable sea of pricks. In the future global Feminist Republic, the issue will be pleasingly different. 23rd pair (X,Y) people (colloquially known as men) will have become extinct, as women will only fertilise themselves with synthetic sperm derived from our genetic code. Since we are not burdened with that mutated and degenerate Y chromosome the recombination step can never form zygotes with 23rd pair (X,Y). Hurrah, no more men, who are in any case better understood as a separate and parasitic species correctly labeled Vir sapiens. Though the sagacity implied by the term sapiens might be somewhat misnomical🤣. Women (the vastly better people) are correctly known as Femina sapiens. Still, videos like this will be useful and indeed curious archives, proving that some few men were capable of great artistry.
