He's very open and in-the-moment, like Armie once said, he's very emotionally raw, you can see all his thought processes right there on his face. I don't know if that's a mark of a good human being, but certainly of a great actor. That makes him one of the greats already
I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. He is 'playing pretend' right there. This film is a light-hearted flick and there's nothing wrong with that, but Timothée literally said he would do anything to try and get noticed like every other actor. He's good, but so are all good actors. He's not an odd one out. Stop being pretentious.
Máirín Kenny but not many actors would choose the roles he has chosen Ik he wasn't that famous before but you can't say he doesn't dedicate himself when it comes to any role. He really makes you feel his pain! You know? So yeah he is an amazing actor in my opinion especially at his age!.
What a bizarre thing to say, acting is playing pretend, it's not brain surgery and we're not curing cancer. Just because he's great at it, doesn't mean that he's not playing pretend.
Stephanie Stevens he means actors who pretend that they like acting. Not all actors are in it for the money but who actually appreciate it and take it seriously and as an art in which it is. Timothy is an actor who has such an appreciation for acting as an art and loves what he does unlike the actors who pretend like they do
Stephanie Stevens the best acting is NOT playing pretend. That’s what the whole of modern acting is based on: telling truths. Timothee is an amazing actor because he “lives the part” which is incredibly hard to do. There is an immense amount of work that goes into any respectable actor’s performance and to chalk it up to “playing pretend” doesn’t seem right.
The insane level of difficulty in this scene is surreal. He can't simply take on the role of Biff and do the monologue he has to be Billy taking on the role of Biff doing the monologue. It's kind of mind blowing. This is a good movie except I went to enough Drama competitions in my youth to know that if someone had a performance like this one they would have been going home in first place.
He's decent here good considering he was just starting out but it's not really special. People are so easily impressed and don't know how to recognize good acting so they see someone feign emotion half-decent and they go nuts for it.
I find it frustrating when people think Timothee is overrated. They obviously only see the stardom he's received from his good looks. A lot of people still somehow oversee his astronomical acting capabilities. This scene had so many layers to it and he nailed everything! He's an incredible actor, especially for his age, and I hope he gets taken more seriously.
the only ppl who think he’s overrrated are just haters who know nothing about how hard it is to do what he’s doing. the fact his peers have given him nothing but adulation for his talent speaks volumes. cause they actually KNOW the craft and when someone is talented.
he’s amazing. every single role he gets into, HE GETS INTO. he becomes that person and his acting isn’t like “oh I can tell your acting” it’s like “am I watching a real person”.
This and only this. Especially the part about forgetting you're watching a person act. His role in the king for me stop me from comparing him to others. Timothee at this point can only be compare to himself.
If anyone was wondering, this monologue is from Arthur Miller's play, "Death of a Salesman," which I would definitely recommend-along with any of his other works, really.
It would be a bit ironic if they made it into a movie, because Holden, as he says in the book, hates the movies. Also, J. D. Salinger refused to sell the movie rights to the book, which is the reason there hasn't been a movie yet, and probably shouldn't be.
I have, without exaggeration, never seen such a beautiful person as him, inside and outside. Even if he cries. And I have never enjoyed an actor like him before. His talent is so poignant, I love it when he smiles, I am quite fascinated by his facial expressions. Thank you Luca for making Timothée into Elio, there could not have been a better cast and thank you for making me aware of him through the movie. I'll be watching the previous films he's been in, and I'm looking forward to Beautiful Boy 2018. I hope he continues to be honored for his talent, but that he remains the one he radiates in the interviews. I wish I had a boyfriend like him. :')
Bertha Lovejoy absolutely i think when its all said and done his talent will be right up there with Brando and James Dean, especially after beautiful boy is released on October 12

I think what makes this monologue so layered is that it’s the perfect depiction of an actor playing an actor giving a strong acting performance. It’s very difficult to portray an actor who is acting like they are acting and it still ring true. Beautiful work from him.
*He doesn't give himself enough credit, in his interviews about **_Call Me By Your Name_** where he talks about Michael Stuhlbarg having the ability to deliver that gut wrenching scene - Timothee doesn't understand his ability to delivery an even more direct heart jab.*

All of the comments aged so well because he is so talented and opens himself up to any role. This is why I don’t believe in songs or monologues being “over-done”. This is by far one of the most famous monologues from one of the most famous plays. If you can do it well, do it.
This is acting. This is immersing yourself in someone. This is not regurgitating written words. Ever setnece out of his mouth is his own. And it makes you feel that way.
Jesus aside from his absolute beauty, he has an immensely profound amount of acting skill from body language, to facial expression, and his voice use... he needs to be casted MORE.

brilliance at such an early age!
It’s such a great dialogue turned into a monologue. I’m truly impressed. His acting is so promising it makes me very excited for his future.
I can't believe people like him can do these scenes and act whereas I try to say one full sentence and will stutter all the way through
Oscars 2018 prediction: Best Actor in a Leading Role (Call Me by Your Name)
Kerl Francis hopefully
I hope so too but i feel like it's going to go to Gary oldman because of his long history in acting and the fact that he played winston churchill. But, like, still praying it's Tim. He deserves it
HE DIDN'T GET IT AND IM PISSED
JUSTICE FOR TIMOTHEE
This is why I don’t believe in songs or monologues being “over-done”. This is by far one of the most famous monologues from one of the most famous plays. If you can do it well, do it.
this was a brilliant performance
this kid will be ranked alongside brando clift and dean as anactor one day...he's that good
This is acting.
I'm rooting for this kid so hard
It's March 5, 2018. The day after the 90th Academy Awards where Timothée Chalamet was the youngest Best Lead Actor nominee in almost 80 years. He was robbed.
BRIA youngest nominee in nearly 80 years since Mickey Rooney...this kid is a living legend already
That’s what you call great acting
this is why hes gonna win the best actor category on oscar....
yanyan salvador hopefully they don’t give it to gary freaking oldman
He is extremely talented and I love the way he is always in the scene and not in his head.

When I saw this scene for the first time, I was blown away by this guy’s performance. I’ve been a fan ever since.
Wow. Acting is remarkable. When he broke down you could really feel his pain. I first watched the movie thinking it was pretty mediocre(to me, at least), but when I got this part it really changed how I saw the movie. The ending was beautiful.
There is so much pain in His eyes and voice...
I love the movies he’s in because he’s so goooodd at acting .. his love for acting is amazing because even just by the facial expressions he makes.. you can see what the character feels. I luv him. Not just because he’s cute but his acting is 😍
i am in love with him, he’s so talented and is always able to present a strong character.
