Because I wasn’t a hummer, I was an alto saxophone player. My teacher at JHS 162 didn’t teach us how to hum. He taught us how to play our assigned instruments. We practiced diligently before each variety show. Anyway, I wasn’t accepted because of my inability to HUM. I played in the JHS 162 Willoughby Stings Band for four years. I played congas on and off since 1984. Then I played with two different bands from 2011-2014. I can ‘t help but wonder, “What could have been?”. I could’ve been a contender… unfortunately, I didn’t understand the assignment.
