The XK X450 VTOL was tested 3months ago it was a different type to these two you had to stand it on it's tail as it has two fin's at the rear with two very small wheel's and a nose wheel, it was the XK X520 and that was a year ago, which was the one I nearly bought glad I did not as this and the XK are far better.
Hello RcSaylors, I'm from NY and have been watching and learning from your videos for a while. Quick question if you can answer. Can I use the Specktrum DX6e 6-Channel DSMX Transmitter with this VTOL? The one that came with mine has this flimsy switch that breaks off pretty easily. Thanks

if someone can answer me this next question... i just bought this drone from amazon... i also ordered 2 extra batteries.... but the extra batteries are 11.1 V.. 1300mah .... can use those batteries even if it is a little more than 1300mah .... or it may damage the drone ....

I fly vtol almost exclusively, my RC helicopters are remarkably really good at VTOL.

Hey guys! I have the HH mini convergence, and it is just as delicate. If it goes down in airplane mode, 99% of the time the servos for the motors are going to strip due to the motors folding under. I've replaced mine 3 times, and lost one motor( the wires hooked to the motor pulled out). So status quo for this type of plane. Only that one was cheaper than mine, and mine doesn't have altitude hold or V mode. Great video though👍

I have both the jjrc and the XK vtol and they both suffered from the same problem. Plastic geared servos. That being said, they are a ton of fun to fly! I would highly recommend picking up one or the other. Just be sure to also pick up an extra set of servos or two. Also an extra set of motor/servo mounts. Have fun.
If you could only own one which would you choose between the jjrc m02 and XK x450? Which one flies/performs better? Assume they are the same price.
PS. I plan to upgrade to metal gear servos.
@@monsterfeet6926 okay first off both vtols are essentially the same. Just some cosmetic differences. So price and availability in the United States would be the deciding factors. Second, I would stick with the original servos. They are perfect fit, they have the correct plug and you don't have to reprogram the radio. I hope this helps you. Happy flying.
@@jlo51500 Thanks. I fly both quadcopters and planes so I guess if I’m careful either will be durable and I can save money on servos. In the meantime prices have gone up dramatically and availability is almost nonexistent so I doubt I will get one.

I was on board with this right up to the mild crash. I think it's a little too delicate for me. Great video none the less!

I bought the XK450 and only flown it for 2 min before crashing in airplane mode. Wasn’t even going very fast. Broke one prop and stripped one servo. Ordered two extra servos and replaced it. Fairly easy to do and so far, it seems like it is fixed. They are definitely fun to fly!
Crashing is part of the hobby. Blow it off. Keep flying

The slightly smaller 420mm Horizon Hobby e-flite Convergence mini does all these modes but is pricy I would like to get the bigger one but cost is stopping me and I think it has been discontinued now any way, but both the XK & JJRC are brilliant, havingtwo does make me push the envelope. I would like the bigger Convergence sometime.
@ 3:11 I think *Chief Durability Tester* Abby must be thinking of the XK X520 VTOL (that could take off vertically from its tail or horizontally from its wheels, and hover by pointing its nose in the air) because your XK X450 (which this M02 is a pretty decent clone of) review definitely wasn't 2 years ago! 🤔
And Nate, the XK X450 CAN NOT land on its tail either, you're thinking of the X520 too! 🙄
Oh, and finally the XK controller is WAY better than this generic toy grade JJRC one, in every respect.
if anyone is interested in putting trail blades on these I found the perfect ones that do not overheat your motors nor esc's and it gives you 2 minutes more flat time and no vibrations and it seems to be quieter they are the Gemfan 4032.
Good run Abby things happen that sometimes we have no control over.
XK and JJJRC need to start offering these BNF for $50.00 so we can replace them after a crash. Otherwise we are going to end up with a box of multiple transmitters and parts we don’t need.

Think Abby had full throttle, big mistake, if crashing throttle down
When you attempted the tail landing you made the mistake of not having the motors stopped before touchdown. I used to own a XVert and learnt that the secret to a perfect tail landing was to kill the motors about 1cm above the ground to stop the engine torque from pulling the craft over. Of course the XVert is made to take that short drop onto its tail. I now own an XK X450 and it smashes the XVert in every respect - except tail landings, lol.

Most servo's are delicate.
I've been slacking for about 2 weeks on watching y'all's videos so I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but y'all are confusing the XK X520 (from over a year ago) with the XK X450 (from a few months ago). I bought them both based on your reviews. I have flown the 450 in airplane mode (crashed it within seconds and had to spend a lot of time working on the linkage to get the prop gimbals back in line, but got it done without spending any money). But it's cool that it looks like I am good at flying airplanes in 'drone' mode. I've only flown the 520 in vertical mode. Been working on teaching myself to actually fly fixed wings lately using park flyers and watching y'all's beginners series. I'll figure it out. And I gotta say, the beginner series is really helpful. So thank you. :)
I own the X450 and XK 520. Have only hovered the X450 around the house as a test. I don't think I live far from you in Canton, OH. Abbey had a classic stall. I do agree, I've hit the ground at 30 mph with the XK 520 and only had to re glue the wing tips. The X450 does appear to be less durable. IMO, JJRC is a quality step down from XK although I think the same company WL Toys owns both.
Not bought one of these vtol fliers but I love them as they should bring lots of people into the hobby and grow the hobby which brings down prices. I just ordered a freewing f22 3s as my first edf which I hope to start flying in the summertime.
Edit: any advice on edf is always most welcome. They look terrifying but so exciting.

great review, i crashed my JJrc m02 and the motor mounts break thats why your left motor is not holding up. ive done a repair video on my channel. But yeah i love this plane its so much fun
My esu burst into flames. Bought a replacement, & can't find a wiring diagram anywhere. Prolly mirror the opposite side & keep my fingers crossed 🤷
Too be honest I’m on my third xk x 450 and they can strip servos just as easy.

Hey Ralph! Thanks a lot for tuning in 👍 If I may ask, why do you think we didnt read the instructions? We definitely flew it alright, just had an accident easy crash.
That was a very slight crash, no where near bad enough to cause that kind of damage.
Ahhh forgot to mention... There are no Velcro holding the battery in place. During those extreme maneuvers the battery is moving around and will cause the gyros to go CRAZY!
The XK450 has velcros for the batteries... I HIGHLY SUGGEST adding Velcro to the inside of this plane and the batteries... Just like the XK450! 😃

They seem way out of place for sure.
The reason that the servos stripped is simply because the props dug into the ground on crashing and the bending moment took over and stripped the plastic gears on the servos.
And they could have gotten stripped when she tried to go into drone mode while it was on the ground. 12:32
Do you guys live very far from that flying field? If so maybe always have something like the Champ kept in your car for when something like this happens. Your filming would be done but you could still enjoy some flying.

I watched another review of the jjrc m02. Same issue you had. The reviewer found 5 gram metal gear servo on banggood. So I've bought 2 so I can upgrade before I have the same issue.
I have one and have had a ton of fun flying it.. it's nice and quiet in Plane Mode and a lot of fun in the other two modes,, .. tho I see it's two front plastic 5G servos won't hold up I have ordered some metal gear spares as replacements so an hoping that someone posts a video on exactly how to swap them out..

Loose servos?
Always, always, always bring a tube of Foam Tac when you go flying! It is great for all kind of virtually instant repairs, and you won’t have to cut your flying time short, or risk destroying your plane because of loose parts.
You should know by now.

Were you ever able to repair this VTOL? If so, can you share the information on which servos you purchased to make the repair with? Or better yet, post a video showing the servos being replaced.

Nate, look at the wings on this and out your XK450 next to it. Notice the wing chord from the engines to the fuselage is SHORTER on this plane and not the XK450!
The crash was INEVITABLE... Because of tip stall in tight turns! The XK450 is steadier in turns having a thicker chord wing from engines to the fuselage...
You must fly HIGH whenever you do tight turns or you will crash. And don't fly towards the ground from up high doing a tight turn. Tip stall is eminent and WILL OCCUR...
The gyros need a few secs to correct the stall but they do work when these tight turns are done at a higher altitude.
This aircraft is more intermediate to expert friendly because of these facts.
But it will fly faster in high mode using multirotor mode than the 450. And not worry about tip stall since all rotors are compensating in tight multirotor turns.
I hope my careful observation has brought you some clarity in this aircraft! 😃

I got the XK X450 after your uploaded recomendation and I learn'tto fly dfone and plane and enjoyed so much I took your advice and went to get a second but they were sold out, but I found a link to the JJRC M02 on here so purchased this as a back up.
I have flown both, and can not tell the difference between them when flying back to back, I am not sure if this is because I am complete newbie to flying. ( I am not yet comfortable useing the 3D setting as yet but now I have two I will go for it as I have the backup, maybe afte this video).
Conclusion: Wing design is an Abortion for tight maneuvers because of increased tip stall due to the chord being shorter than the XK450s...
Fly it like a bomber/passenger aircraft and save the stunts for high altitude ONLY!
Fly scale and FAST any other time is Fine...
Rc Saylor's, . Hopefully You'll take a Old rc'ers opinion to heart.

Just paid $88.00 per jjrc mo2 on Bangood site. Awsome deal, considering the engineering, an computer gyros, etc,,
A few up grades will set it up well. Several videos on very reasonabl upgrades.
We airplane people have little options for a quad plane. .
Personally I feel with your influence, you were snap judging, an doing a disservice to the future of Quad/Planes,

as well as sad because, you didn't bring another plane.

Hi Nate, you flew a plane on your channel that came across the field and you stood right up in the air, and you kept it upright and then took off again. Which video was that also the name of the plane. I watch your videos all the time.

Having watched this again the damage was done trying to take off without checkingit over and the drone was upside down, so the gyro moved the motor's to the vtol mode not knowing it was upside down it moved them 180degrees instead of just 90degrees.
I stripped the splines on one of my motor servo horn'snot the servo, but once it calibrated itself then I repositioned the horn and glued it in place sorted. both back ready to fly, I just need to get better in plane mode before I try the 3D mode again.

Always great to watch your reviews ! I bought the XK version after watching your review of that one. I’ll admit, I’m WAY more comfortable flying my drones. The XK vtol is my first “plane” and I bought it because it seems to be a crossover. So I’m gonna get my feet wet on flying a “plane” with the XK. Question, did you have any problems with the trimming while in drone mode with your XK ?
Also, do you have any videos on R/C repairs ? These foam vehicles scare the willies out of me !
try switching into hover mode right above the ground and then just let your tail touch the ground and then switching to airplane mode as you power down and it'll give you a nice two touchdown your tail touch first and then your nose will touch you won't have to fully Everett to landing and you can basically fly it in the position and then you can just drop the nose with the mold and that should be good enough to give you a nice sweet landing pretty much every time

Nice Video. I want one. Should be easy to fix with another servo. Probably stripped out the gears. Is that a 9 gram servo or smaller?
The servo's probably just need to be repositioned I did the same and didn't damage the prop's and it fell from a lot higher, Oh Abby you done broke it, I bet you did as I did and did not push the left switch up far enough so it went into 3D and missed the 6G position, you probably stripped the servo horn as they are quite weak.
I learnt on the XK X450 and the JJRC M02 and have crashed both and been lucky I suppose as no part's required yet.

It is just that, a proposal. It is very unlikely for the exact proposal to ever take effect. Do you realize how many proposals simply go nowhere? Probably not because they usually arent clickbait worthy. Let's say this exact proposal does pass... we will not live the next 1,000 days in fear of what is to come. That would be ridiculous! Also, we refuse to make a penny off of fear mongering like many people currently are.

How does this plane gain altitude in plane mode? Does it gain height with the throttle or does it have elavators? Or do the props turn downwards or upwards?
Are the servos a standard size? may be replace them a with a better quality servo.

It looked like a nice aircraft...but that durability...or lack thereof....it's too bad. It also seemed to have less rudder authority...when you did your turns, it tended to drag its tush...but the XK X450 didn't have that problem. I guess the XK X450 is the one to get.
