How can you skip Gen 2 ? -best looking mt 09 by far and also if you want to be a hooligan turn off the electronics or if you want riding performance go with sp version or tune it for more refine throttle
It’ll only ever feel dated if every single other motorcycle in the market had futuristic headlights and everyone was riding them 😂 Still new bikes coming out with headlights that aren’t overkill and the old 09 fits right in 🤷♂️
I have the 2015 mt-09 in blaze orange, had it since new. Done suspension upgrades front and rear, K&N air filter, Akropovic exhaust (same as yours...love it!), Quickshifter kit and Power commander 5. Absolutely love it!
I went straight for a Gen1, cheap as chips, had a Woolich tune with quickshifter auto blipper, dna filter, air box mod and velocity stacks, brake and suspension upgrades but nothing crazy. No frills but absolutely hauls. Lots of custom bits. Value for money second to none
Since a week I’m the owner of a street rally, but in terms of ‘most aggressive’, try a 2005 KTM superduke 990. I rode it back in the day, thought I wanted that bike. But when I recently made a testride on one, I decided I wanted something more civil: the street rally. I love it, still needs some mods and much needed maintenance, but already the ideal bike for me. And indeed, more raw than gen2.
@@motomanvlog its all personal preference ofcourse, but for me its a bit too much. Just had a ride in and around Amsterdam, the mt09 is perfect for that. At times you have to ride slow. On the first year(s) 990 superduke it is not doable. With some tweaks, sprockets/ ecu, it is a bit better, but everything below 50 km/h also feels as if your torturing the machine, it wants to go go go. Nice a for a day or week. Not as daily. But I hope you get the chance, it’s always better to ride it yourself, maybe you’ll like it.
@@basx37 sounds like a blast but I get u. Bikes that aren't good at slow speeds can get annoying. I ride just for fun so I'd probably love it. Never seen one in Thailand tho ffs hahaha
@@motomanvlog the smaller KTM’s are present in Thailand? A lot of them are produced in India I believe. In Hong Kong owning a bike that isn’t produced in Asia is pretty expensive from what I’ve heard, same thing in Thailand? Oh well, maybe not a KTM, but I believe living and riding in Thailand isn’t bad ;) thanks for the replies and the video. Awesome quality video as well! Silly that I’m watching it after I bought the bike, but it made me feel good about my choice.
@@basx37 glad you liked the vid mate, Thailand has a high import tax on bikes that aren’t made or assembled in the country so KTM’s and other European bikes etc are $$$ unfortunately. Thankfully most brands have a plant here so the pricing is good in general, especially compared to say 10 years ago. If you get the chance to ride out here someday you should mate it’s an amazingly beautiful country and great for motorcycling.
My 2018 won't power wheelie in second on STD and TCS on 1. It either goes in to power cut or just lifts 20 cm off ground then back down. If l try a clutch up most of the time the TCS will cut it too. Even in first gear the TCS 1 interferes most of the time. Any insights to power up in second while it's on TCS 1 ?
Power wheelies in 1st or 2nd is doable at low speeds, 1st especially. However I would get use to 2nd gear around 50kph with a mini clutch pull to get a feel for it and once you are use to the feeling clutching it up is a lot more controllable. Slow steps mate and cover the back brake if it does get too high.
ive owned a 2nd gen and now own a 3rd and I gotta say both were amazing but the creature comforts of the 3rd is amazing. PS 2nd gen had best styling much better then 1
Got gen 3 myself and found when out with other MT09 they think i am nuts but i say to them that wasnt going to mental bikes got plenty more they laugh not had chance to ride the older gen but hearing what other say about them i see why others who ride them think gen 3 is so crazy because how easy and balenced it is over the older bikes nice video and very nice roads out there
Great video, but you need to either increase the volume of your voice or lower the music audio. Very strange going from loud music to very quiet voice. Had to keep adjusting volume.
Sweet vid man. Very nice. ✌ It's irritating to me that youtube algorithm seems to have put your channel into some sort of box. Or inflicted some sort of ceiling on views or reach or impressions or recommendation. It's unclear to me but exactly but I see it happening to lots of channels these days. Punishing smaller creators for not uploading every single week of the year.. or not making shorts, or something. Not sure exactly but it's BS. This is obviously a sick edit and I bet it doesn't get anywhere near the views it deserves! 🤷♂️
Thanks dude, definitely noticed it for a while now. Hopefully TH-cam can help the smaller guys in some way going forward. Feels somewhat out of my hands tbh. 14k for a while loool
I just got my sixth bike in 12 years, a 2023 MT09, and it's everything I ever wanted in a bike. Super comfy, torquey, perfect sound, handsome face only a mother could love, and doesn't burn my balls. I'll be keeping it for a while.
I don't care about tech and traction control on a motorcycle. I planned on getting a Gen 1 MT-09 as my second bike. Which is better for that throttle issue I keep hearing about, an ECU flash or a power commander? Do I need to go see a Dyno shop to get the flash done or can I do it myself? Any suspension recommendations?
I have put the upgraded springs on my gen1 and tyres . Its basic no luxury compared to gen 3/4. They are much cheaper than gen 2 3 and 4. I dont want to give 12k for a mt09sp as the ZH2 are 12K euro here used. There is soo much choice with 12k here than with 4k euro
I’ve gotta 2014 fz09 and absolutely love the engine. As far as looks go the 3rd gen is hideous, 2nd gen looks great, and my first 1 gen seems to be growing on me the older it gets.

If you watched the whole video you would have clearly noticed I said gen 3 was the best MT09 ever made mate. I like mine for what it is doesn't mean it has to have any bias. Of course I love my own bike lol
Bro if a bagel factory were to have the same production value as this video, they'd make a lot of bagels. Premium bagels. 🤙

The gen 2 is ugly af. Had a cool headlight but that's it. The back looks rubbish
@@Pot8o-w7s Not everyone have a good taste haha
Cool stuff, I own the gen 3 SP but also love the gen 1. The original MT09 has a rawness that you don’t find in many other bikes

The best version of gen 1 Street Rally version, really love the looks of it, a bit of KTM & Yamaha married together have a mix breed offspring
