    I've had mine for 4 years, without a doubt this truly is the most exciting bike I've ever owned out of all 60 and over 57 years of riding. I have the FZ07, a 1200 Thruxton, BMW F800R and NC700X. being old weight plays a major part in my choice of bikes. I liked the Street Triple, they did have an occasional problem but value for money, bang for the buck the 09 is hands down superb. I do not "mod" any of my bikes, experience has taught me to leave it as it can in the box. This bike is brilliant all around.

    Just bought mine 2 months ago as a starter bike. From what i have learned it truly is a monster. The bike is
    so aggresive and a ton of fun to ride but you need to know your limits and have a great amount of respect towards the bike. There is 3 riding modes A,STD and B (2016 mod) and i only ride in STD mode and plan on riding in this mode for a while. You can also use B mode as a Rain mode when roads are wet. As long as you do these steps and have the correct mindset you can start on this bike no problem.

    I got a Black Widow exhaust last year for my FZ09. I bought it directly off their website. Great exhaust and super cheap - whole system for the same cost as a slip on.

    Your mods are awesome. You've turned "ordinary' looking bike into a great custom job. I have a mostly stock MT10 but have ridden an MT09. Both extreme fun bikes. Some have bagged the 09 for the things you have fixed. You've shown a good head doing this. Enjoyment doesn't only come with riding. Enjoying your bikes looks and making it your own is supercool. Nice job. Oh and the front cowl works for me.

    You need a tune for that thing. Makes a world of difference. Also, you won’t risk burning up your valves with a lean air fuel mixture with that exhaust.

    I put my MT09 up for sale a few months ago without much luck to sell, The only reason im selling is that I plan to move overseas. I ride my Dads 2000 BMW RT on occasion (and because backpacking with my gf is easier), however I will never get over the triple cyl sound. Termigoni best exhaust.
    Now Im thinking of just keeping it in the shed when Im back in the country.
    Mine has upgraded suspension when i bought it, and if I really wanted to throw more money at it, i would forsure invest in adjustable foot pegs, sportier handlebars and if i had some money laying around Id probably throw a deep space wrap on the tank. Great bike, great power. Nice video!

    Nice looking FZ! I agree with a lot of your points but I have to disagree with you on the suspension and brakes. While the FZ was not designed to be a track machine you can still rip it stock, a lot of people dump thousands of dollars into it with the mindset to fix a inferior suspension and hardly ride their bike. Unless you drag knee on every corner I don't think the stock suspension is "trash" and needs thousands of dollars spent, it's very capable if you have experience. But hey to each their own! Ride safe

    • @ShakeNBlake509
      @ShakeNBlake509  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know man. I purchased my bike already having aftermarket suspension on it and it has been a world of difference. I've also never been to a track day on it. But I have ridden quite a few stock FZ09's. I do not feel confident with taking that bike around twisty's at all. I've let many FZ09 owners ride mine and they agree with me as well. Also, you can swap zx6r suspension in yours for way cheaper, worth a look. Have a good one.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2018 MT-09 owner here. My 10th bike owned (from supersports to SV650 nakeds). Suspension is definitely trash. Chassis, engine, transmission, etc. is a great platform, suspension is trash. Switchgear, info display, seat/subframe isn't very good, but all that can be forgiven with proper setup.
      If you want to keep the machine for years, it's worth fixing the low points. If you plan to get rid of the bike soon, it's not worth fixing but please don't tell people that the OEM setup is "fine" because it's one of the worst on the market. No reason to avoid buying a new one, just something to consider when buying one.

    • @Matt-ix6ne
      @Matt-ix6ne 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exothermal.sprocket I'll agree to disagree, I have also owned a lot of bikes over the years. Including a 14 FZ-09 for 3 years now. I'm not saying the bike has the best suspension out there. If the suspension was pure "trash" these bikes wouldn't sell. The FZ/MT has become one of Yamaha's best sellers and kicked off the demand for naked sport bikes. To each their own, if you want to drop 2k on suspension that's up to each individual and their needs. The FZ-09/ is plenty capable in stock form, it's way more capable than what most Joe's can push on the streets. You don't need to throw the suspension in the trash LOL. To say stop telling people that the suspension is fine is very ignorant. Best of luck to you, ride safe!

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outside of the 10 bikes I've owned, I've ridden over 50 others of all genres from various brands. Stock MT-09 suspension is trash. Trash spring rate, trash damping circuits, trashy control when underway. You can disagree if you like.

    My favorite bike ever was the 2001 ninja ZX900RR it was the perfect mix of weight and power, and god it was fast, it would keep up or pull any liter bike, it came down to who ever got the jump, and now I’m looking for something comfortable that can match those numbers! I find myself wanting a Ninja 1000, or Suzuki GSXS1000F, I’m leaning towards the Suzuki myself, but the ninjas are every where! I buy a engine, and frame cause the rest I can fix or upgrade if need be, but I ain’t gonna replace a frame, or a engine so I want a big 4 cylinder liter bike to save for when everything is weak electric and no top speed, then we can just walk away from anything on the road and make our deliveries first! I just picked up a 2014 before winter and I love it so much. Only rode it for a few days and it’s been put away for snow reasons. Itching to take it out soon. 😅

    New sub here and wanted to you get your opinion. I currently own a 2014 ZX14R and will probably get bashed for this but there is a good chance I will be trading it in on a new 2018 MT09 tomorrow. I have a test ride set up to see what this bike is all about. Now my reasoning is I am getting to the point where my age and miles I commute isn’t practical on a sport bike. I feel the FZ/MT will be or is the better choice. Thoughts?? Only negative I can think of is going to be buyers remorse wishing kept the 14. I feel the FZ/MT can just do everything around the city better/ better suited anyhow. Thanks man awesome vids.

    I own a 2017 fz09 and just like you can't really complain about what you get for the price you pay. Although one thing I absolutely hate about this bike is how uncomfortable that ironboard stock seat it comes with

    • @dsavv
      @dsavv 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont mind the seat at all, curious, height and weight? I'm 5'11" 145

    • @Nobe616
      @Nobe616 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dsavv 5'8" 200 it's long distances that the stock seat was bad at so I went ahead and bought a comfort seat from Yamaha. Although it makes the seat height much higher but makes it a huge difference in terms of fatigue on long rides
